Man, I STILL have my copy of blur. I remember beating it, accidentally deleting all of the data when I wanted to get the shirt for my avatar but not being able to get it, and then beating every event on Hard with all lights. Good times.

I still can't believe how insane Burnout Paradise still looks and feels and that game was released in 2008! Blur and Split/Second were the underdogs of that generation and I can't believe how people overlooked them.

I just noticed that most of the underrated racing games come from the 7th generation of consoles: Need for Speed Prostreet, Blur, Split Second etc. Sure, there were underrated racing games for the 6th generation of consoles as well but that generation was filled with so many good racing games that are still fun to this day that most look back on the 6th gen as the golden era for racing games. Whereas the 7th gen of racing games is slightly overshadowed by the 6th gen (apart from the heavy hitters like Midnight Club LA, Forza Motorsport 4 and Forza Horizon 1 etc). You really don't know what you have until it's gone.

Man, literally peak nostalgia for me, some of my favourite racing games of all time are here especially on X-360 like FM2, FM3, FM4, FH1, B.Paradise, Blur, PGR4, Split Second, Dirt 2 & 3 (CE), NFS HP 2010, The Run, MW 2012, Grid 1, TDU 1 & 2 and the list goes on, time to turn up the console again, so thanks for this great video. This gen was the last hurrah for arcade racers so much variety and originality that is almost non existent these days.

The game is definitely great but I remember buying it off PS store for $15 years back and being frustrated that I wasted my money because I was terrible at it and couldn’t finish a single race. I remember spending so much time with my cousin on this one race and the best we got was 3rd. I hated the traffic so much in that game.

The Gran Turismo series is ground breaking and amazing as always… but I put more hours into Prostreet. There was something so fun about the grassroots racing scene. Just wish any of these games got drifting physics right.

PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 got the last golden era of arcade racing games, after that, the arcade racing games entered in a downfall. Doesn't have a big variety that used to be.

Some GRID, DIRT, NFS and especially Forza Horizon are amazing, I prefer them over at least a half of PS3 and Xbox 360 era installments. Every generation had it's ups and downs.

I still remembered BLUR, SPLIT SECOND, MOTORSTORM, LittleBigPlanet Karting, GRAN TURISMO 5 & 6, Midnight Club LA, WipEout HD, PGR4, RIDGE RACER 7, and NFS HOT PURSUIT 2010. All those racing games, even in 2024 are still legendary and unforgotten.

@@TheBossGaming I've never actually played the game before or anything, but from my perspective, the reason why it failed is because of the non licensed cars and the physics, to be honet non licensed car in video games such as burnout, flatout, and motorstorm are really good but the ones in blur looks like a direct and poor copy of what they're supposed to be

We've had a lot of good racing games over the years, until the PS4/XONE generation when the variety and quality dropped drastically, you could count the ones that were worth it on one hand. But the PS2 widows still insist that they no longer make racing games like they used to.

2010 was sadly the last good year of racing games. After that, we only sporadically had good games. Forza Horizon, Dirt, Ride and sometimes good ones on Steam, but they don't feel big.

PS3 / 360 period were the golden age of "modern" racing games. This video covers most, but "Test Drive Unlimited" "Driver 3" and GTI Club+ would make the list more complete among the great ones.

PS2 was the best era for racers. NFS Underground 1&2, NFS MW, Burnout 3 Takedown, Burnout Revenge, Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix, Gran Turismo 4, Tokyo Xtreme Racer. PS3 era was alright, but can't touch the PS2

Despite the fact that I spent years playing different Grand Turismo games, I still can't shake that nasty feeling of how "sterile" and flat those games were with every later release, to the point where I stopped playing it, because some other most popular hardcore sim and arcade racing games on the other hand are simply more fun from both sides.

From the modern nfs i think heat and payback were good, unbound is kind of a 6/10. The driving with heat burst, and cornering at insane speeds is too unrealistic already.
