Only since 1967 onward, the year after the Ford GT40 won Le Mans 66', Caroll Shelby thought of putting the V8 of the GT40 into the Stang, and made it the legend we all know today. Which also makes V6 trims of the Mustang not at all irrelevant after all, since it's less costly, more gas mileage, and more fitting to what the Stang originally was - a secretary car. 2. Toyota Supra was a technical marvel for the tuner, but it's not a big performer at stock. Tested by BESTMotoring of Japan, it lost to an M3 E42 in a drag race, stock. The reason why Supra are sought so frequently is due to its engine's durability withstanding horsepower 5 times than what it came out stock. This was partly due to the laws of Japan restricting HP output to a certain level, and carmakers had to go for "making bulletproof engine for tuners so we get their money and HP problem is theirs now". Mustang's not what I'd call a technological marvel, but more of a realized greatness. Supra's a technical marvel, but it wasn't until years later that it was appreciated. To conclude, both cars are cool. They were pretty much as slow as the other in their stock original form. Numbers never tell the whole story, just like drag strips never tell the true greatness of anything but acceleration. I love Supra as a Toyota appreciator, and Mustang as an American car fan (Hail Viper). I'm just not into debating whether a car beats another just for internet relevancy. p.s: the greatest ferrari street car was named dino, after enzo ferrari's son alfredino, who he loved the most and tragically died at 22. unlike most of the modern ferrari except the 296, it has a v6, developed directly from the works of alfredino. so don't go trust people when they say the dino was something enzo hated so much he stripped the ferrari badge out of it - the dino badge was the honor of his late son.

Almost took my dads too My dad used to have one when he was 18 or smthn and damn it got abused He was drifting it around and hit a patch of road that was grippy asf and slammed into a side walk killing his rims but not the car And then he was driving down a road quickly and there was a puddle of water and he ran over it It sprayed up and killed the underside 💀
Old cars were designed by artists. Modern cars are designed by computers that optimize everything with respect to regulations and efficiency. The end result is a soulless product.

Teslas are actually nice, but if you say, "Oh, well, they are bad," it might be because you've never had one before. My cousin's dad got a Tesla recently, and he took my cousin and me for a test drive. It is incredibly fast and good for the environment. Sports cars peaked in the late 90's early 2000's. This is when most cars came 6 speed manual, engine's were built with tighter tolerances than previous cars and all aluminum, and they were void of unneeded safety and electronics leading to a simpler and lighter weight package. It's the intersection in car history where mechanical advancements meets simplicity right before the era where sports cars started to become heavy and over complicated, using electronic diffs and magneride to compensate for it.
As a car guy, i like different cars for different reasons. The classics will always be the classics and be legends until the end of time. But, there are also a lot of new cars that are absolutely incredible as well. So I wouldn't say old cars are better, as there were plenty of crap cars back in that day too. I would just say certain classics deserve respect and admiration for the impact they've had on the entire car industry. Not that they're better than newer cars.
It's about design that makes classic cars so unique. I think that's what this video is trying to put out. Older cars had this style from their era that really pops out compared to today's computer generated look. It's not today's cars fault they look awful it's what years of research let up too
It's the overall trends both cosmetic and mechanical, and business practices of the auto industry that i think are more shit today than before, if not the cars themselves.
@GalaxyStandard77 but there's a lot of newer cars that have incredible designs and are already legends in their own rights. The Chiron, Bollide, McMurtry Spéirling, Gordan Murray T.50, Valkyrie, Pagani Utopia...etc. And that's just the hyper cars. The c8 zo6, for example, is already a legend as well. With its engine alone being the most powerful NA V8 to ever be put into a production car. But, the C8's design is what really got it to draw so much attention and really place itself in the supercar status. To be able to get a car that looks and performs like that for the price that you can get it, is an incredible design and engineering feat. Then you have the new Lexus IS500. The new design on the IS models is one of the best in its class, if not the best. If you see one on the road, it almost looks like a supercar. Then, you get the incredible quality and reliability of Toyota to back it up. The new Honda civics are very good-looking cars, and they have some of the best driving characteristics of their class, as well as some of the most comfortable, reliable, and safest. The Type R doesn't look as good as previous generations, imo, but it certainly drives even better than any before it, and once again is the fastest production fwd car around a track. And it still only comes with a manual. And there are plenty more, but im obviously not going to name all of them, just some of my favorites. But, yes, in some brands and models, there are cars that lack in their design where they haven't in the past. But, it was the same back then as it is now. There were certain models and brands back then that were seen as not good designs, and their previous generations or models of cars were significantly better. Computers certainly have changed the design and development of cars these days, but I'd certainly say it has changed it for the better. Yes, again, there are brands and models that suffer from this change, but there are many more that benefit significantly from it as well. We wouldn't have all these legendary cars and their performance without the technology we have today. And we certainly wouldn't have the incredible safety of the modern car if it weren't for computers. Just like every era of cars, there's upsides and there's downsides.

@@gtoenthusiast And a few months ago, I learned that my father was a street drifter until I was 4-5 years old, but then he learned the responsibilities of being a father, etc. Now, no matter how fast his car is, he does not exceed 80 km/h in the city.
