The brilliant thing about this, is that the memories of Cups are not making him more crazy, but they're actually saving him. They keep snapping him back to his true self. Jagger is a genius and needs to win role player of the year. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
I was blown away with the editing of this cold open and then Chatty shocked me even more by telling us that it was not pre-made and he did it all on the fly live! I’ve seen pre-made cold opens that were nowhere near as good! Looking forward to seeing where this storyline goes!
Long TLDR for those who want the backstory: For Chatterbox, Ray Mond was the missing piece. His twin flame that helped him grow as a person. He left his mask with her when she left to remind her of him. That mask was an essential part of Chatterbox’s identity. It represents his “better self.” Without his mask, and with Ray gone, he looks in the mirror and doesn’t recognize himself. He’s dissociating. It may have something to do with his almost near death experience. Trauma may have separated Chatterbox from his old self for the sake of his own protection. His mind is fragmented and he’s drifting in and out of consciousness. When chatterbox is asleep he has dreams… in those dreams he does really bad things to people. Those dreams are actually old Chatterbox taking over, murdering, and possibly eating people (what Bobo taught him to do in the basement). Hence, for the past few streams he has been waking up in strange places. Unsure of how he got there, wearing odd outfits. The ray of hope (pun intended) is Chatterbox’s hallucinations/flashbacks of Ray Mond. Whenever he hears and sees her, the old Chatterbox disappears. If Chatterbox ever truly loses her… we can be certain we will lose Chatterbox as we know him.
I dont know everything, but I know that his original form was a cannibal. He also used to take people and force them to a gladiatorial fight to the death, and the winner survives. I think Tessa was a big factor in pulling him away from that back in the day, I think especially in 3.0. Obviously correct me if Im wrong on anything.

I love how Jagger is RPing this from Chatterbox’s point of view. We get to see the fear of not knowing what he did. The memory loss. The dissociation. The terrifying voice in his head urging him to k*ll. And the small glimmer of hope when he has a flashback to Ray’s memories… which are like a tether, keeping him sane, showing him his true self. Pure cinema. Jagger is too good.
No it’s just a shift back to his old personality, maybe even a personality split between old murderous chatterbox and the new chatterbox. I don’t think it has anything to do with any memory loss
I don't think this has anything to do with memory loss, it's more about reverting back slowly to his old personality.. If anything, Cups memories keeps him somewhat "sane" atm but the more time she takes to come back the less he'll look like the Chatterbox she knows which would makes things interesting if she does comeback at some point.. He would be the one needing saving/healing..
I think it's more about regression because it's still Chatterbox but reverting to his old ways. The memories that keeps appearing in his head has taken a toll on him and this is the result.
When he gave Ray the mask, he talked about how the mask signifies his current "self" and he wears it because he prefers this version of himself, vs the split personality he had in the past. But after a long time without the mask, his split personality is returning again. imo it makes a lot of sense for the story, and it feels fresh the way he's doing it.
