Was wondering when you'd get to these guys. They're phenomenal.

The craziest part is they do this kinda music for an hour and a half, at least the last time I saw them live they did. It was fuckin incredible.

The vocalist Tommy Rogers, plays the keyboard. These guys are amazing. Their live performances sound just as good as their studio recording! I never miss a show when they come to town. I'm still here!

I think what may be one of the most impressive things about BTBAM is how flawlessly they play their songs live. It's amazing music to listen to, but it's even better to watch.

"Between the Buried and Me", and "Protest the Hero" are the real deal my man. The two are absolute masters when it comes to writing rich, complex and beautiful musical compositions. They are quite literally my two favourite bands, and the two who have shaped my musical tastes more than any other. Glad to see you praise them. I implore you, and anyone else who liked this or the previous PTH video, to check out both bands full discographies.

Some more "straightforward" sort of songs are like Selkies: The Endless Obsession or White Walls (two of my all time fav songs). But if you're looking for their more genre bending stuff, Swim to the Moon, Ants of the Sky, Fossil Genera, or Extremophile Elite are what you'll want to listen to next. And then you have their older stuff like Mordecai or Shevanel that are more metalcore with clear-cut hints of the band they'd eventually become. BtBaM are just a fun band in general to dive into.

Best live metal I've ever heard. Their technical proficiency is only matched by the creativity of the compositions.

As a few have pointed out, listening to a single song by btbam is like finding a 5 minute clip of a symphony and releasing it as a song. Each song builds of an references the ones around it. Callbacks. Every album since at least colors is an experience

This is less of a reaction request and more of a personal time recommendation. You should absolutely listen to this album front to back when you get a chance. All of BTBAMs music is best in album context, the way each song flows into the next is just perfect

This song leads into the next one on the album called Lay Your Ghosts to Rest, my absolute favourite from them! You should definitely listen to them both together in the future! Maybe you could do a video on that song if you ever check them out again!

Between the Buried and Me has a pretty big and long backlog of stuff. And I do mean long. I remember trying to listen to their albums on the bus ride to school, and it usually took two or three complete rides to/from school to home to get through a whole album, back in the mid 2000s when Alaska came out. Definitely looking forward to more reactions and analysis to these guys.

The fusion influence that Paul Waggoner has is one of the reasons he's one of my favorite guitarists. You can really tell he's jazzicly trained, especially when you hear his solos. The solos in _Ants of the Sky_ and _Selkies_ are amazing

The phrasing stuff they do is probably my favorite part. They are always replaying, re imagining and foreshadowing their own parts in the songs.

BTBAM is absurdly talented and branch into pretty much all genres throughout their discography. Saw them live once in 2009 ish and was blown away. After their set they just noodled away for like an hour and took us all places we didn't expect to go. Check out Antebellum from The Human Abstract. It's classically composed metal and it's great.

I saw them play live at a very small venue just a few years ago. It was incredible

It's kind of mind blowing how great their musicianship is. It's so tight. It feels like an entire orchestra bursting through via a modern prog-metal band.

Hey Geebz there has been a hankering for a full album version of this kind of reaction to Colors from Between the Buried and me, and noone has ever done it. You'd be doing a huge service to the fandom. Reason being, Colors is 8 tracks, but 1 long contiguous musical thought (aka song). There are callbacks throughout the entire album from one track to the next, culminating in a giant medley of a finale which calls forth direct motifs from earlier in the album, and extended/altered variations on prior sections. A reaction to Colors would be epic, and much appreciated.

Here are my notes Geebz “they have incredible stamina” Me “oh you don’t even know yet” Geebz “can their be fusion metal” Me “well they do have blue grass parts in a song so yeah I think there can be” Geebz “maybe this is one of their composition heavy songs and they have more radio ones” Me “this was their radio friendly song, welcome to this wonderful rabbit hole my friend” I love seeing Geebz knowledge on this stuff, I was hoping he would catch on a one time breakthrough how BTBAM arranges their songs and how they step out of that arrangement at times to just melt your face. He did not disappoint at all and I found myself watching on the edge of my seat to see if he was going to say that he is going to dive deeper into their catalog. Absolutely made my day. Now I want Blake’s reaction to Geebz’ reaction videos.

Drummer Blake Richardson has a DVD out. He takes the EP 'The Parallax: Hypersleep', removes the drums and vocals and performs the album flawlessly with a multi-camera shoot. Jaw-dropping. Blake has also done video work with Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater/Metal Allegiance. I recommend checking out the the songs White Walls and the Proverbial Bellow. Masterpieces. I'm still here.

dude im loving this channel more and more. i got on about 5.5k and i really appreciate your POV with your expertise evem with the Tool videos and Spiritbox stuff you did. that being said these guys were my intro to heavier prog metal and rougher vocals. i got in woth the Colors album so if you could do some from there that would be amazing, but Paralax II (which this is from) is in my top 3 albums of all time.

yes fusion metal is a thing! I'd recommend Candiria's "Temple of Sickness" or "Paradigm Shift". They were a big influence on the drummer for Between the Buried and Me

Still here! so glad that us viewers could introduce you to wonderful music. Most of BTBAM's albums are concept album and are meant to be listened to as a whole, however i've always loved that the individual songs can still hold their own. A personal favorite is Swim To The Moon.
