Old Composer REACTS to Chaoseum SMILE AGAIN // Heavy Metal and Rock Music Reactions 

The band recorded their official music video for this song on a cellphone during the pandemic when they were unable to tour or travel. Brilliantly done by just the band members with no high tech cameras or high cost production. Excellent song and tribute to the style of the band with the backwards R who pioneered the new metal song. Long live KoRn!!!

Hearing Smile Again was like hearing a Korn song I never knew about, such a nostalgic feeling, takes me right back to Blind.

After being bombarded by this video in RU-vid suggestions a few months back, I gave it a listen, I now own the CD. I'm that easy XD Great album, do not regret.

The more you listen to this. The less he sounds like Jonathan Davis. Also, this is the only song that’s Korn like.

Apparently they made this song as a tribute to Korn which (if that's true) is why it's so heavily influenced by them. None of their other songs sound quite like this and are influenced more by later nu metal and early metalcore bands

CK Smile's voice is definitely influenced by Jonathon Davis. There's no bass, which means the music doesn't really sound like Korn. Korn was influenced by Faith No More. Can you hear Faith No More in Chaoseum? CK Smile is the youngest member of the band. The guitarists are influenced by Iron Maiden and older bands because they are older. What gets me are the people that claim to love Korn but hate Chaoseum because they sound like Korn. It's like saying I hate cherry strudel because it tastes like cherry pie, but I love cherry pie.

Found out about this band about 2 weeks ago. Can't stop listening to them. True, there are obvious Korn influences in this song, but there's much more variety throughout the whole record. There are songs with blistering guitar solos, double bass drumming, metalcore and melodic death metal elements we do not usually hear in Korn's music. CK Smile vocal range is absolutely great, ranging from Layne Staley-like vocals, Jonathan Davis' tone or Marilyn Manson's rasping vocals to Johannes Eckerstrom, from Avatar, growling.

Sounds a lot like Korn and Adema. I dig it

I found this band this year and I love them, they sound like Korn ,but after listening to them more they have there own sounds!

what I like is when a band *starts* with the glaring influence and as they mature they start to make a sound their own. in flames started out basically as iron maiden with harsh vocals and slowly became an innovator in early melodic death in the Gothenburg scene (ofc they took a far left on style now which isn't my cup o' tea, but fine.) but they made something amazing from really leaning hard into an influence and now a zillion bands sound like early in flames.

Always interesting to hear your analysis. I've only recently found these guys myself but they grabbed me as the nu-metal scene has been somewhat lacking in my opinion for years and this was the track that got me interested. Considering the vocalist they have (CK) only joined them in 2018 they've seemed to gel pretty well and CK just posted on facebook a couple hours ago that their acoustic album's going to be released next month. It'll be interesting to hear how the engineering is handled on some of those revisited tracks.

If you had never heard Korn “type” music all the Korn fans would be losing their minds over this. If I could keep new scene bands sounding like the old rock gods like AIC, STP, etc etc, I think that would be amazing. It’s about how it hits you emotionally.

I have seen a lot of reviews for Smile again but it's not their best imo. I've grown to prefer Stick Under My Skin way more so try this one please :P

In an interview, when this CD first came out, they acknowledged and fully accepted that they sound like Korn (it almost sounded like a badge of honor to them). They know what they're doing, and they're good musicians. Korn won't be around forever... Hopefully this will keep that going a little longer... I wasn't sure about it at first, but after my 10th time (and counting) playing this song, I'm in.

World to Come - Gojira Has one the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard. It's worth a listen if you haven't yet.

Bro, I'd love to witness your reaction to "Mindless Self Indulgence." They are an experimental high energy NYC band that ppl either absolutely love or hate but no one can honestly argue they, & Jimmy Urine (singer & composer) in particular, haven't been pushing musical boundaries for over 2 decades. I think "Ala Mode" might be YT friendly. Great song but also probably the least novel out of their cornucopia. "Bitches" & "Planet of the Apes" would likely blow your mind. "Never Wanted to Dance" & "Shut Me Up" are some others. Doubt you'll end up doing it but if so strap yourself in & clinch your sphincter to prepare. I personally always believed that - out of every person in existence, in any walk of life, of any race, religion, creed, sexuality and so forth - the most positive person ever to be born was Nile Rodgers. That guy always seems to be smiling, happy and has not a single drop of negativity in him. Then I found this channel and that feeling I have of Nile Rodgers, I started to have of Geebz. THEN I came to a realisation that I haven't ever send Nile or Geebz together at the same time. I'm not saying they're the same person - but I'm also not, not saying it either.

Funny feel like I heard this song 20 yrs ago. Oh well if anything happens to the "other" bands singer they already have a replacement lined up.

Congratulations Geebz!! This was the most tactful way I’ve ever seen to say “so this is just a straight ripoff of Korn, right?” I mean if you like Korn I’m sure this is a sound you’d like, but I don’t see how this song can be described as anything other than a carbon copy of Korn. Granted, maybe their other stuff is different and this was a deliberate nod to Korn. But if I was a betting man... And where’s that guy that said Tool was boring? I did try to comfort him by saying I was sure we’d get to something much more derivative soon; I just didn’t think it would be this soon.

Only a few of their songs have this amount of obvious influence by Korn. Other songs sound nothing like Korn. The vocalist is very talented.

I'm not sure if you can hear the accent, but if you pay close attention, you'll hear it. The first language of all the band members isn't English. It's French and they don't speak English very often.
