Wow, finally some Isis! Lots to discover here. Each album is a very different beast. I highly recommend checking out their track "Syndic Calls", it's on the album "Panopticon". Another, instrumental masterpiece of tension is "Weight" off their album "Oceanic", a monumental record that helped shape the genre. "Dulcinea" or "Holy Tears" off their album "In the Absence of Truth" are good choices as well that showcase their melodic development. To me, they feel like a more organic Tool, which are more 'mechanical' if that makes sense.

@ShivaWilding It may be a strange starting point for you or anyone if you're familiar, and a fan of this particular band. I assume you are new to Geebzs channel, otherwise you would know he just posted a video to explain in detail the how's & why he clicks on a certain song. His niche has been in the media business, jingles, commercials, local movie productions, which have been incredibly successful etc... His channel has been so wildly positive because he intuitively knows and sometimes not understandably, but people still appreciate his mastery regardless. He hits the nail on the head almost always because of his incredible ear & engineering talents from back in the day when he DID engineer music and put together & give feedback for artists wanting to break through in the music industry. He can hear everything! So having chosen music that he is not familiar with can be a big gamble, and he tries his hardest to please everyone! Geebzs is doing something fantastically right. Because look at his subscription numbers. People, including me love him for a very good reason! 💯❤️🎶

7:05 At this part, picture yourself relaxing backward into your plush armchair or whatever. It's that kind of relaxation that takes you higher up spiritually, substance use can be involved, I really don't judge. But you get there, and there's this array of ghosts talking to you. Ghosts that have meaning to you. You were with me then and always Through the fluttering veil of frozen blue, A hooded figure cuts its path To cleave the night in two. Aaron Turner also has two other projects he is a member of aside from Isis, which sadly drew to a close in 2010 - Old Man Gloom and SUMAC. In short, I would describe Old Man Gloom as being a post-metal band that incorporates elements of sludge and doom metal into the mix alongside a bit of post-hardcore. SUMAC is similar in genre, a sort of sludgey post-metal, however the styles and themes of the two vary quite a bit and thus they sound fairly different from one another. I believe he's also in a few other projects, but I cannot recall what they are off the top of my head.

Love me some Isis. I’m partial to “In Fiction” myself. Now, how about doing “Heaven In Her Arms” or “Dark Horse” by Converge!?

I'm so glad you finally put yourself into post metaal ! And yeah Isis is one of the best of this genre ! The groove of the bass/drum section is always on point. This genre contains so many good bands, Cult Of Luna, Russian Circles, Pelican, Neurosis, If These Trees Could Talk, The Ocean etc...

I got to see Isis live. They opened for Tool in Boston at the show right around the time of the release of 10,000 Days. I remember they played this song. Then I got this album. I love this album.

At last! Certainly worth a deep dive, like others have mentioned, each album is different and i would say they dont have a bad album to their name. They are either great or exceptional. My favourite album is probably Panopticon. That album also has a direct link to Tool as Justin Chancellor plays guest bass on the track "Altered Course".

This was my favorite on Wavering Radiant. That split release they did with The Melvins is an absolute masterpiece. Panopticon will always be my favorite though. (Edit for spelling.) (Edit 2 PLEASE listen to Pliable Foe. You don't even need to analyze it. You'll love it.)

I don't know why I keep seeing ISIS pop up now in reactions but I'm glad it is. I used to listen to them years ago, and honestly sometimes forget about them. I think I found them through Tool. They have a cover of Hand of Doom by Black Sabbath that's really good, would be an interesting one to check out.

Geebz, huge fan of yours. Have been silently observing listening since your Sober reaction. I have not put in a request yet but I feel overcome with the need to shed some light on the band 'The Moth Gatherer'. This is likely the very best band you've never heard of. Extraordinary composition. I can't imagine why these guys aren't spoken about more. You could start anywhere in their discography, but I recommend the song Pale Explosions off of the album 'The Earth is the Sky'. I guarantee you won't regret giving it your time of day, and I think the band would really benefit from the exposure your channel would provide. Please take a chance on a random fans opinion. 🙏

Somewhere along the same vein are bands like : The Ocean (the album "Pelagial"), Light bearer, Alaskan, Old man gloom, Fall of efrafa, Down fall of gaia, Archivist, Neurosis, La ligne Maginot. They are more on the post hardcore and Neo-crust Crust punk side of the spectrum (Because it is what I listen to and know about within that branch of the rock tree)but are still under the Post metal, epic Doom and Sludge umbrella. Some of them more than others.

YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!!! This band is the king of build ups!!! They took me down a very cool path of Post Metal bands (Jesu, Mouth of the Architect, Pelican, Red Sparowes, and Rosetta to name a few). Their album “Panopticon” is one of those rare albums that I can just leave on loop for hours to chill out and let my mind wander. Highly recommend that one!!! Favorite track: Altered Course Thanks, Jeebz!!! Keep ‘em rollin’ :-)

Jakob is a great Kiwi band who I've seen open for both Isis & Tool, very atmospheric layered slow build (yet still heavy in its own right) without vocals. I'd love to see you react to one their songs (Malachite or Blind Them With Science immediately come to mind as maybe more accessible from a reaction POV)! And even if you don't react I'd recommend them as ambient background music, I used them as my go to when I was studying to get in the zone!!!

Really good song to get started with them, though it's from their final album and was one of two written after they toured with Tool (In the Absence of Truth was the other.) Speaking of Absence, "Garden of Light" is my all-time favorite song period, so I'm gonna have to suggest that one, but "In Fiction" is an incredibly close second place. On the keyboardist (Bryant Meyer), he also serves as a third guitarist when needed. Five dudes total, Aaron Turner does all the vocals and is the lead guitarist. Aaron has gone on to form several sludgier bands like Old Man Gloom and Sumac. He's done some noise stuff too. These guys, along with Cult of Luna and, wait for it, NEUROSIS are the "holy trinity" of what folks call post-metal. I've commented about Neurosis twice already ("Through Silver in Blood"), so for Cult of Luna, I'd check out "The Silent Man," "Ghost Trail," or "The Fall". And as always: "Onda" by Jambinai. They could easily share a stage with Isis, if Isis were still around.

Yes! This song is gorgeously structured. Some like to diss on this album and the previous one (In The Absence of Truth that is also an awesome album) but they're likely their best melodically driven music even if Oceanic and Panopticon (which I both love with a passion) are the fan loved ones because of their heavy crushing sound. Anyways I hope you check them out again in the future, here some suggestions: From their first album ' Celestial ': Gentle Time or Glisten From their 2nd album ' Oceanic ': Weight or False Light From their 3rd album ' Panopticon ': Altered Course or In Fiction From their 4th album ' In The Absence of Truth ': Garden of Light or Dulcinea And from this (their last album): Threshold of Transformation or Stone to Wake a Serpent As usual, great vid Geebz :)

Also Isis did have a keyboard player. Fun fact on this album Adam Jones plays guitar on “Hall of the Dead” and keyboards on “Wavering Radiant”. Another connection of this bad with a different artist you have reviewed is that this record was released on Ipecac records which was founded by Mike Patton from Mr. Bungle.
