I would kind of love to live there. To move there. I'm 42, have IT experience, have worked with VSAT systems, Microwave, POTS, as well as network administration and PC repair. I don't know if any of that kind of thing is needed there, but living in a remote, isolated place, with few enough people that I could actually get to know them all, and be a part of a community I care about, and whom I appreciate, sounds really appealing. I'm not sure how to make that happen though.
That is one thing I have learned about the Yukon. Most goods need to be trucked in. I don't know if goods coming into Skagway or Haines, can be shipped via the narrow gauge railway to Whitehorse ? I hope that new road if it comes off the Dempster highway can make goods not so pricey. Beautiful country there in Old Crow. I think in way its good to be isolated and not have your way of life tarnished by pollution and outside influences.
