Such disturbing scenes, it is not love , it’s toxicity. This movie is about a toxic family of a toxic boy friend. There is no love in it. It’s about zid, ana, ego. I feel strange that I felt that it was a love story in my teenage but maturity has taught me that most movies and dramas don’t show love but toxic romance.

don't worry this will not happen with you, not everyne is paro, the most luckiest female ever to be thought of as she had devdas, the most devotted lover ever, but only few people can understand him in this movie.
Animal me ranbir ka cheating hi sabse toxic scene. Uske awala kuch nahi... Aur uska theme love story bhi nahi h kyuki vo animal h insaan nahi 😂😂😂😂 This movie was suppose to tell true love instead it should have been made as toxic love story then people wouldn't have problem.

@@Pixelpulse447that's the exact problem, people are not able to distinguish between fiction and reality. People do get inspired from movies, you can search online just how many people have tried to copy the ways people are murdered in movies and dramas.

Achha h she didn't get married to him. According to the Novel, Devdas's mother humiliated Paro's mother during a Procession. And Paro's mother refused her to marry Devdas's. And now I see why. Because she sensed that toxicity and egoistic approach run in the family. Hurting anybody innocent physically is the worst thing anyone can do.
Those who are criticizing, the movie didn't justify the book trust me. I was disappointed after watching the movie because it couldn't portray the layers and complexity of the characters. Devdas is the story of a man who ruined his own life because of his own ego and stubbornness. The book never glorified the character. The movie was just an adaptation of the book. You also need to understand the time. The book was published in 1917. The society was a very conservative bengali society. Paro was a teenager in the original story and from a very poor family who used to live in a zhopra not a big mahal of thousands of colored doors and a swimming pool. Dev's family was the richest in the city and marrying dev for paru was always impossible because of the societal gap they had. It's kinda like a Cinderella story darker version.

Too much glycerine and glamor in the new version. I would gladly stick to the cozy, realistic and homey 1955 version of the movie. The small moment showing the gaze of Suchitra Sen tops anything else going on in this short.

Old is gold. Simple is beautiful. The old movie is exactly based on the original novel. The new one is filled with drama and is deviant from the original story of the novel.
I don’t think so. Dilip one looked too casual, he put a mark on his lover’s forehead but has no guilt, heart wrenching feeling, just too casual. While in SRK's version, it showed he is also in pain, heartbreak, hurting her and giving her a mark also gave him a lifetime of guilt. I Won't say glamorized, rather showcasing how miserable Devdas was in that time.
Such men should not be celebrated . Movie should not have been on his name at all. His character seems so careless, abusive . Why he is considered so important enough to make movie …

Okay, so if you study each character individually, I feel like the character of Devdas Mukherjee was bipolar - he had random impulses to do things, from gifting the kangan to going away in the middle of the night after the fight with his father to writing a letter to Paro declaring they had nothing between them, they were all random impulsive acts, you even hear him say that he didn't think anything of it through. He slumped into being an alcoholic when he's someone who's the most educated, coming from London, that's a self destructive act, all of his behaviours line up with someone who has Bipolar/Borderline disorder (bipolar and borderline are 2 diff things guys)
What people fail to understand is that the writer agrees that he created a toxic monster in Devdas and rightfully so, the writer condemns him to eternal misery and a death befitting a toxic monster... Saratchandra never backed away from punishing his characters deserving of punishment... Paro was left to live a life of peace and luxury with only her heartache for someone she worshipped but also she understood her loss, had she chosen to elope with him, which she refuses to do as she is more sensible about her and her family's reputation.
Don't judge the whole story just by a bollywood movie scene . Many of the people dont even know the writter of this . Go read the real story and u will understand how hopeless devdas was 💔

Novel me saratbabu ne khud likha tha ki "2 type ke log hote h duniya m , ekprakar bina soche samjhe, chaanbeen kare kuch nahi kehte aur dusre log bina kuch soche samjhe kisi cheez ko bhala ya bura bol dete hai" (2re logo me se devdas bhi tha , ye jo usne paro ko hurt kiya ye usne aage peeche samajh kar nahi kiya , use man me aaya kar diya) wese bhi yaha ki comment wali public hai , bina scene ke impact samjhe aagye "toxicity toxicity" ka nara lagane , ye nahi ki pehle socha is bare me, aagye acid attack se compare karne.
