Fun fact: where I'm from, we call an RV a "camper." Hello TravelingRobert, thank you for taking the time to document your travels through Florida. I think that many people have a misconception that Florida is only a tourist attraction and doesn't have history or a lot of the other great features of many other states. :)
@TravelingRobert

Thank you. I call it camper sometimes too. After almost 27 years living in Miami, I'm now starting to "discover" Florida.

You really do a great job making the viewer feel like he/she is actually with you on your tours. I am so impressed with the amount of research you must do around each area you visit to inform us of all the sights and history. But most important, with the music, dialog and video editing you make everything seem so interesting(as though we are actually there with you). A real joy to watch...

Good one once again, Robert. Fort Pierce Marina Square is best seen on a Saturday morning. They have a fresh produce market, live entertainment, and crafts / artisans" wares being sold as well. Jensen Beach usually becomes more animated every other Thursday evening with live entertainment with street vendors galore.

The sandhill crane at 23:32 is always a thrill when they're on the golf fairway and cry out on your backswing -- or at an intersection in Melbourne, Fl. walking around the cars and pecking at their reflection in hubcaps.

I love watching this older one when I miss home, my family is literally 5 miles north of the campground. It is a nice place to live,visiting little more challenging in terms of where to go. Little Jims kind of blows,Waldo's in Vero I love,Archie's on South Hutch,and you know I have to go to my favorite brewery Sailfish Brewing in Fort Pierce. If driving through ,you must visit.

Hey Robert I live in this area, know it like the back of my hand. It's called the Treasure Coast, between Vero Beach and Jupiter. It's a beautiful area. You did a nice job capturing many of the hilights. There's also the Heathcote Botanical Garden in Fort Pierce as well as the Fort Pierce Inlet Park which is really nice. Over the intracoastal bridge in fort pierce just after where Indian River Drive begins, there are nice beaches, restaurants and some small aquarium and history museum, and at the end is the inlet park with a nice walkway along the inlet out to the beach and pier. Alot of people hang out there. Also at Indian River Park in Jensen Beach right by that historic house you featured, up on the hill is a historic mansion which is now a public facility the town rents out for events. You can walk up the stairs to the top of the mansion and view one of the most gorgeous views in Florida overlooking the intracoastal. The mansion overlooks a beautifully maintained outdoor amphitheatre area which is also part of the events facility. Beneath the mansion is a boardwalk along the water which extends about 1/2 mile to the other side of Indian River Park which features dolphin statues and a water fountain park where children love to frollic. Then a pier walk out onto the lagoon with great views of the bridge. I realize it is not always possible to do everything or to even know about all the sweetspots. Alot of these places you may not even find out about on the tourist websites unless a local cues you in. Next time you're back in the area I may be able to offer some suggestions. I would suggest Jupiter area and West Palm Beach. Guanabanas in Jupiter is an amazing tropical oasis and along with other sweetspots like the Jupiter Inlet Park & adjacent Dubois Park as well as the Riverwalk restaurant/shopping complex Harbourside Place. Happy travels.

+Madhava Nanda I was just back in Jensen a couple of weeks ago. There's not a whole lot of info online about the area. It is close enough to Miami that I think I'll go again soon. So when we go I'll check out some to the hidden gems you mention. Thank you and see you on the road.

Back in 2004 I used to walk the walking path at Indian River Park. The historic mansion was all boarded up and run down at the time, but I remember plans were being discussed to fix it up and use it for something. But a couple hurricanes hit that year and even the Holiday Inn hotel out on Jensen Beach was decimated and left abandoned for years afterward.

P.S. If you come through Sarasota take a drive from Venice via Casey Key Island. All magnificent homes but alas no parking on the drive except at the beach located at the south end of Casey Key. Also The Ringling Museum and property is FREE on Mondays. Great views from the patio of Ringings house of the intercostal and Longboat Key.

Robert, you should do a video of A1A along coastal South Florida, a beautiful drive, one of Florida's best. My recommended route is to take 95 from Miami up to Fort Lauderdale & get off at 842/Broward Blvd E towards the beach. Turn onto E. Las Olas Blvd to pass over the Intracoastal bridge. Along Las Olas you'll pass through Ft. Lauderdale's main street for shops/restaurants and beachfront. I like to start my trip up North along the coast on the A1A starting from here rather than Miami. I find the ride starting from Miami a bit tedious getting through all the lights and traffic and diverts from the beachfront. Starting from Fort Lauderdale Beach up to West Palm is a smooth trip passing many beautiful beaches and parks. When you reach West Palm Beach at A1A & Royal Palm Way you have to divert for some miles to get back to A1A at Riviera Beach- West Heron Blvd/ back over the intracoastal onto A1A. But if you like it is worthwhile to continue down along the beach drive in WPB to the end of the peninsula and explore the posh neighborhoods along the peninsula until you reach the inlet at the end. If turning down Royal Palm Way, just before the bridge turn right on 4 Arts Plaza, park there and explore a beautiful free botanical garden and walk along the intracoastal River walk - N/S. Lake Trail, a gorgeous walk and cycling path several miles long. Be sure to walk at least 10 or so minutes (north) at least until you see the enormous Banyon tree next to historical landmark buildings like the Flagler museum. Drive further along Royal Palm Way over the intracoastal bridge, just at the end of the bridge I like to turn right onto S. Flagler and meander along the intracoastal as far as it will go until eventually you have to get back to US before you can back to A1A via Heron Blvd. (Aside from this route there's more to explore in WPB like Cityplace shopping area, Clematis St & the WPB Greenmarket along Flagler Dr waterfront on Saturdays, all in downtown WPB) Back on the A1A in Riviera Beach continue on through beautiful Juno Beach. Stay on A1A & pass through Jupiter Island, one of the most posh areas in Florida where every home owns the beach. Reach Jupiter and explore the places I previously mentioned (additionally Jupiter lighthouse park and restaurants on the other side of the inlet overlooking the lighthouse, as well as Burt Reynolds Park & Sawfish Bay Park - more lighthouse views!). Happy Travels.

@ 18:28 there is a green-roofed house and and green-roofed gazebo on the left side of the road. That house is owned by someone who is an heir to the John Deere tractor company. My father lived just behind it for over twenty years until his demise. He moved up to Jensen Beach from Fort Lauderdale once Broward county lost that old Florida feel as did many people moving from Miami and Broward once it was over-crowded. These people looking for old Florida start at Hobe Sound going all the way north along the Treasure Coast. To be honest Sebastian-Vero all the way down to Hobe Sound is beautiful but very laid back without much night life so one has to drive down to Palm Beach and Boca to get some of that.

P.P.S. - Forgot to mention in St. Petersburg, The Fort DeSoto Campground (Pinellas State Park County System) has beautiful waterfront sites on the island in the middle of Tampa Bay at very low prices. Jan-April is $46 and May - Dec is $42. All sites have water and electric, table and grill. There is a central dumping station. Also on the drive over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge are exits for daytime stopovers on small beachfronts on both sides of the bridge. Great for picnics, windsurfing etc.

Really enjoy your videos and commentary. How about giving Mrs Traveling Robert some photo appearances in the videos. Next time you have a week or so to explore Florida, try my side of the state. The coastline of the west coast has more character and beaches because of all the inlets and coves from Ft Myers all the way north to Tarpon Springs and is much more interesting than the east coast. Plus water you can swin in because it's the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Lots to do in Ft Myers, although sometimes a bit of traffic. Venice a nice town known for hunting for sharks teeth at the beach. My home Sarasota a small but modern downtown, great shopping and restaurants on St Armands Circle, including the famous Columbia Restaurant and Kilwins ice cream(Not too be missed). The 1905 salad eat Columbia is great and the Flan dessert is the best in the world. Fabulous beach 1/4 mile away called Lido Beach and Lido Beach Park and nearby is very upscale Longboat Key. But we have a world class beach on Siesta Key. Sand like white talcum powder and cool to the touch. There is even an RV campground at the south end of Siesta Key right on the beach. It's a small campground, nothing fancy but you're right on the beach. Nearby are all the beaches in neighboring town of Bradenton which can be easily reached by continuing from St Armands Circle through Longboat Key and directly to the beaches in Bradenton. Another campground in Sarasota is Sun N Fun directly off of I-75. No water views but a huge complex with many amenities. I camped there back in the 1990's for 3 months during Jan, Feb and Mar to see what life in Sarasota was like before selling our homes in New Jersey and moving to Sarasota. Of course back then the rates were a lot cheaper. Then there is all of St Petersburg and Tampa to explore. Take the Sunshine Drive bridge for the spectacular views. St Pete waterfront area loaded with charm and restaurants and nearby is the Salvatore Dali Museum. Continuing north is Clearwater and further north is Tarpon Springs, the sponge diving capitol and loads of Greek restaurants . All this should keep you busy for couple of weeks.

Robert not sure I have mentioned this on another video, but when in Fort Pierce I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Road Runner Campground. Very nice, may have the best showers/bathrooms of any campground. It also has a 3 hole golf course and a small restaurant on site with cheap meals, but they are great... we failed to check it out until our last morning.... should have ate every night and morning at it.... would have saved us a lot of money. Pay extra for the pull through sites... they have a great setup. Road Runner is not far from the KOA, but so much nicer.

We did the same turn around for the Fort park, but did not drive to Stuart on that road, used the ocean side road and missed the restaurants.... but on our way to Key West. The Tiki baR in Ft. PIERCE DOES REALLY SUCK. BAD SERVICE LOUSY FOOD. COBB HOUSE IS MUCH MUCH BETTER ALL AROUND. OUTSTANDING SERVICE AND PEOPLE. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN FT.PIERCE.
