Old Guy Paragliding-Comparing Advance Process 3 to Easiness 3 Harness

Thanks for watching. I also have a Pi3 and love flying it using the lighter Easiness 3 for a great hike and fly combo.

I use a large size for both and according to the sizing chart I am just above the recommended size limit for the medium size so a large should fit you well (I am 183 cm/ 6 feet). I find that both fit well and are roomy but again, more padding with the Progress 3. There are plenty of adjustments options so definitely do a hang test before flying. You may have to adjust the harness after a few flights to get it just right (as with any harness). By the way, Advance is coming out with a new seat-board harness called the Boundless. Looks like it would be like the Progress 3 but with a seat board…just to add to your buying confusion…but something you may want to check out on their website. Cheers!

Thanks for watching…I saw the new Boundless on Advance’s website and it looks very interesting. Advance products to my eye are always beautiful. According to the specs it is just slightly heavier then the Progress 3 but the same rucksack volume so it should be able to easily pack your Alpha 7. I used to pack the Epsilon 8 & 9, and now my DLS in my Progress 3. The Easiness 3 might prove a challenge as I now just use it for the Pi3 (very lightweight glider) if I am going to pack it… or otherwise I just use a stuff bag. I was able to pack my Epsilon 9 in it but I really had to fold the wing very compactly. A standard weight glider is indeed a challenge to pack into the Easiness 3. I am also interested in the Boundless and wonder if the seat board would be a nice thing to try (again). I used a seat board years ago in my first Gin PG harness and then the Apco & Dudek harness for paramotoring. It might be a wait for the Boundless but you could preorder I suppose. Flybubble in the UK or Superfly in the states might give you a time frame. LOTS of equipment now takes some time right now to deliver. I have found Flybubble VERY helpful and they could certainly give you some insights into glider packing with all the harnesses. Carlo and Nancy are super and have an equipment match program that might really help. Best wishes

There is more padding than the Easiness 3 but no specific back protection as in the Axess 5 or Success 5 but these are not reversible and obviously heavier and have seat boards…I have never flown these. I guess the Progress 3 is a happy medium between a full-on protective harness and a more hike to fly harness. The Easiness 3 goes a step further in lightness AND if you really want a lightweight harness, you could go with the Advance Strapless! That’s like flying with a diaper and weighs next to nothing…a little too minimal for me. The Easiness 3 also has a cover to protect the leg pads if you want to remove the air protector (an option when ordering). I have flown it this way but only when the flight is a true hike & fly without any turbulence….otherwise one gets rocked around a lot! You would need a front reserve if flown this way. Best wishes!

Thanks for the question...I think the Progress 3 is definitely easier to weight shift and will certainly give you greater padding and comfort. After using their Easiness 3 for some time, my first day back to the Progress 3 was like sitting in a nice cushioned sofa chair. I just watched a video from Greg Hamerton who describes the best technique for weight shifting & other thermal flying techniques (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2YoYz21lZsQ.html)...a seat board is overall a bit better but you really only need to START the turn with a bit of weight shift, wait about 2 seconds, and then pull the inside brake to fully extend the turn and then control with the outside brake. The Progress 3 accomplishes this very well and even the Easiness 3 was not difficult. I found that I was relying on the Easiness 3 for all my flights but feel it is better suited (for me) for lightweight hike & fly adventures & calmer thermal days. I am using the Process 3 for most other days when a lighter kit is not my main focus. The Progress 3 ia also very comfortable maneuvering on the ground.
