Hull, a great city at the end of the M62. Friendly people, entertainments, good banter, stoic attitudes., Went there 1976 for work, education and new life. Was there many years, note the wide straight well planned traffic routes.
Fantastic work finding all those photos, as a local born and bred here it's interesting to see Hull back then, thank you for this channel loved it beginning to end 😊👍👍
THIS MAKES ME SO PROUD TO BE FROM HULL HUMBERSIDE ❤️♥️❤️ MUCH LOVE FROM ,,HULL,,UK,,🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 YOU CANT SAY MY CITY ANT COOL YES BRO BEST CITY EVER ,,HULL,,, HUMBERSIDE
@@stevetaylor8698 fir the people who live in hull me in clued it will always be hull humberside that’s where they got the name fir the bridge,,, Humber bridge you from hull yourself
@@marianorton5604 It was only "Humberside" for 20 years, so what a stupid claim you make amid your mostly indecipherable babbling. It was East Riding of Yorkshire when I was born and I never accepted "Humberside". And I have seniority over you.
Wonderful, integrated transport system, with trains, trams and trolley buses. All swept away under pressure from the road transport lobby in the 50's>60's.
What a wonderful time looking at all those amazing photographs.. Hull looks rough but most of the people are lovely kind and friendly.. This is where my husband is from and most of his family are still living in Hull, Thinking of my amazing mother-in-law now who has sadly passed away .. This brought back many good memories so thank you for the video
you is welcome i was born in 1956 love hull wouldn't levee such a grate place to live my name is nick cox just wondered is any of you family related to me
@@nickladey we really don't know much about Allan's family.. His father left him and his mum in a foreign country when Al was 3 years old.. Apparently he ended up in Australia and had another family and changed his name Allan was born in 1961 joined the army at 17/18 he did 43 years before retirement.. I do know some names of aunt and uncle.. His mum was a Hall before married Robert Cox This probably isn't much use to you. Regards Sally
@@sallycox2135 my uncle gorge had a sun to his first wife who was named Robert when she god divorced and remarried went to Australia and and he took her marred name of kelly he past on about 2 years ago
@@nickladey seriously? As I said in my last message Allan's dad changed his name to kelley. The one I'm on about had three more children to his second wife.. I would be very interested if you can tell me the name's of all three and the second wife's name.. I know them but if you do then we are related.. Also Allan's grandma that's Roberts mum moved to America so we have cousins over that pond too, This is rather exciting
@@nickladey when George remarried did his second wife have a boy called Robert too? Did George's first wife move to America?... if so this is the right family
Nice production, great music ( you know when you're old because you can name all the music tracks). I arrived in Kingston-upon-Hull way back in 1960, it didn't stink of fish and the streets were actually NOT made from mud and straw, they were actually paved and had modern transport going to & fro. Been here ever since ! Lovely City, lovely people. Your production, especially when Moonlight serenade was playing, made me cry. I'm just an old centimentalist from Nottingham.
Great city back in those days when life was at walking pace...and everybody helped each other....unlike todays modern attitude of `Im alright Jack` back then plenty of jobs and a country you were proud to say was great. Thanks for putting these memories up of better days past?
yes you is right in everything you have said it was a grate city don't like the look of it now all the old ornate buildings gone thay say changes have been made for the better but have they ?
Is there a list anywhere of the locations of the photos? My mother and I are just sitting watching it and she is guessing where a lot of them are, but it would be nice to know for sure
How beautiful so many memories of growing up and enjoying life were you respected the things you had didnt need much to make you happy beautiful collection of pictures well done for making us smile and remembering those happy memories of days gone by xxx
Just shown this video to my nan. She says she remembers as a child standing on the footbridge over Botanic Gardens crossing when the steam trains passed under... The kids would squeal with glee as they each disappeared in a cloud of smoke which came through the wooden slats of the bridge. The simple pleasures of a bygone age!
Does anyone know what happened to Tichbourne Terrace.Hessle Hull..my mum was born there and also left when a baby to live in West Yorkshire. We have recently lost mum and would be interested to learn a bit more about about this area.
@@nickladey A couple of EYMS dome tops survived I believe. I used to repair those at the Anlaby Road depot in a previous life. Ended up being a bus driver in Perth Aus for my sins. Good old days. Long retired now mind. Good stuff you put up Nick. Been following you off and on for Yonks. Have you ever come across any old pictures of either Parrot Street, or Tomlinson Street, off Selby St, in your travels. I was born down Wheeler St but raised in Tomlinson Street, now long gone...
