When Kpop was more underground, it left room for more artists to flourish. But it still had toxic fandoms. I never forget the horrible fanwars because of the oversaturation of Kpop groups. It was brutal, especially because music shows had much more viewership and would decide success, and you could only choose one group to get into those free shows. Nowadays, I would say that one whole group is monopolizing the market, making it harder for there to be variety, so the toxicity is felt stronger from one side.
quit right ahah, even if i miss those time, i don't miss fight btw ELF and VIP, but now we joined force against new fans disregarding the golden age of 2nd gen
almost every thing the old once are much better .. K-pop .. English songs .. Arabic songs .. movies .. games .. every thing now they take the easy way and the fast way to Finnish the job for money only that's why it doesn't has the taste and the feeling it has before ( plus : the people who create those things before are wise grown men and experts .. but now .. its just a bunch of teen punks and non expert collage students )
@xgummibearx don't need to take someone else's opinion so seriously. Why so pressed? 🙄 Kpop before was much more unique sounding before. And that is a fact. Don't get me wrong, kpop groups nowadays are incredible and there is still unique music coming out. But there's nothing wrong with someone reminiscing and missing the earlier eras. Plus when kpop was less popular 10 years ago, there were much less toxic fans. Again a fact. Not an opinion. Yes there was definitely still toxicity and fan wars. But some aspects are so much worse now than ever. Cancel culture definitely has a large part to do with it
@@yusukefuuma08 i agree with ur first statement but not with the second bc I think kpop songs has always been influenced from the west since the beginning. It’s just that nowadays, I would say kpop songs focus too much on dancing that the quality of the music starts to deteriorate. There’s just too much overwhelmingly loud instrumentals and a lack of balance b/w singing and dancing
This just made me realize how fast time flies. I've been a K-pop fan since 2007, so when I see "old kpop songs" my immediate thought are early SNSD, SJ, T-ara, BigBang, WG, and 2PM songs. When I saw songs from 3rd gen groups on the list, my immediate reaction was "that's not old!" but realized a split second later those songs were released literally 9-10 years ago and are certainly old. Also a fantastic reminder that I AM OLD. lmao thanks for this nostalgic compilation.
Ahora mismo me siento vieja y solo tengo 16 😭
It would be great if the list included artist like B.A.P, INFINITE, FT Island, CN Blue, Lee Hi, C-Clown, BOYFRIEND, MBLAQ, VIXX, GOT7, SS501, IU. Each of them had fantastic songs too during the Golden Era ☺
Even tho I don't consider 2011-2014 old, this 2007-2014 era is probably the best era of kpop. So many hit songs, so many different concepts. We were able to enjoy every single group in the industry (at least until the 2012 debut-boom). Every song was catchy, very different than the noisy k-pop that is the 4th gen. (Btw, some of these groups are actually part of the 3rd gen, like AOA, BTS, EXO, NU'EST, BTOB. Even APINK were considered by the media, at that time, the "next generation groups")
I know it’s that I made this video 2 years ago when I was brand new to kpop so I couldn’t really differentiate who was 2nd or who was 3rd other than oh anything that was a hit between 2007-2015 ish is 2nd gen
I thought i was the only one that feels 4th gen songs noisy, especially boy groups. Not all but many of the bg songs sounded like non stop chanting/ cheering you hear at sport stadium. 4th gen gg on the other hand, went heavily on edm, girl crush type of songs most of the time.
@@kayuberuti So true about boy groups. All i hear is a noisy sound and tons of rap by Male Groups. You can't even distinguish one from another. Before each group had its own sound. The moment you heard them you knew it was the x Group's song. Shinee, Beast, BigBang, SJ, DBSK, 2pm, Mblaq, Ukiss, Exo, Got7, Old BTS, Infinite and others. Each group had sth new to bring. Girl Groups are still having a bit of variety in music genres. But i wouldn't say the same about their looks and style, which is similar to one another. Some groups that are very distinct now is Twice, Gidle, BP, Aespa, RV, Dreamcatcher, Itzy mostly.
I still remember shinee, VIXX, n SUJU n EXO being the kings of K-pop. BTOB, BAP, AJAX, B1A4, SS501, UKISS, B2ST, ZE:A, CROSS GENE, FT ISLAND, LED APPLE, NUEST, 2PM, n more. They were the legends. Still my playlist.
Yessss, the classics will forever be the best! Kpop used to be so fun and unique, I'm not saying it isn't now but it definitely isn't as fun imo as it used to be. The songs were all so catchy and the instrumentals were always so cool. It makes me want to go back in time to experience it all over again 😭
There's a reason why the first 2-3 generations of K-Pop made up the Golden Era of K-Pop. Even though the compilation is missing many other songs, even groups/soloists like 9MUSES, INFINITE, VIXX, G.NA, B.A.P, SS501, UKISS, CNBLUE, FT ISLAND, Rain, etc. it also shows the uniqueness of K-Pop right before it boomed in the West. It's ironic how people argue that the Golden Era started only recently, or with the boom of a specific group, but let's be all honest and face it, it already happened between 2010-2012/2014.
Oh damn, I know, right? Now k-pop is something MASS which is listented even to boys who before named it gay-pop, and this is embarassing. Miss our small fanclub which belonged only to us.
kpop used to have so much variety and genre like these. we actually got option to listen to which song depending on our mood, nowadays, it just similar beats. similar genre, similar rhythm with different lyrics.
Y, siendo sincera, pocas canciones me parecen buenas.
nowadays, popular kpop songs are basically very similar but it doesn’t mean that all kpop songs sounds the same. if you wanna listen something cute you can listen to CSR or iz*one, if you want something badass you got dreamcatcher, everglow, if you want something bubbly try Yena or rocket punch.. none of this sounds the same
Shoutout to all 2nd Gen kpop fans! I got into kpop in high school! Legends like BoA, SHINee, 2NE1, Wonder Girls, 2PM….i could go on! I miss this era so much!
I feel like back then there was a bit more diversity of sound and concept. I feel like i could point out each group from the music video or their vibe. But nowadays it feels like there's a lot of trends that companies push on groups kind of blend into each other.
As a Korean, I'm very pleased and surprised to see such a good and accurately classic list of Kpop songs. This list was very well made and really has songs which represent that great era of Kpop nicely.
Jonghyun - Shinee Go Hara- KARA Sulli- f(x) They just the legend and best idol of K-pop 👑 all the time.. Nothing can be replaced the innocent of them.. Rest in peace King and Angels.. 🌹💓
@@humaur5469 depression and bullying still exist, you know? Everyone can suffer from it, no matter how much money they have. Having a family doesn't mean that you're close with your family members. Beauty is subjective, maybe they weren't beautiful in their own eyes. And friends... We don't know if they really had them. But still, no amount of friends can save you from suffering from a mental illness.
2007-2014ish was my era, and 2009-2011 my most "nostalgic" years. SHINee, Super Junior, SNSD, TVXQ, 2PM, f(x), U-KISS, 2NE1, T-ARA, KARA,... these are my jams. My brain still considers anything after 2013 "new" which is crazy lol
@@Lktlyyyyy i was only 7 so I’m 17 now, but my early childhood (2-9) are my most memorable years thats why I keep thinking it was only yesterday😔 its very depressing to think about😂 the nostalgia hits extremely hard when u don’t realise where the time went
This era had so many unique, individual bangers. Today, a lot of Kpop songs mesh together and are very formulaic. There are still bangers, of course, but the unique beats that never felt recycled are a rarity.
@@cupidream9702 I know that, but it was much popier and more eccentric. In the mid 2000s a lot of western pop music followed the same format and similar music videos
I can cross reference each song on this list to a western song of the same era that sounds the exact same 0:43 problem Ari and Iggy 2:00 Britney if you seek amy or rihanna SOS It's not an old Kpop thing it's a 2010s thing!
I miss this era :') whenever you heard a song you instinctively knew which group it was sung by or even which member is singing bc each group and member had distinctive voices/style. Nowadays, its not like that.
That's true, nowadays... When i try guessing songs by who with friends, from 10 songs maybe 1 or 2 songs, my answer got wrong cause i think its 1 group who sing the songs. So much group not have uniq voice or singing style in now era... Really miss 2nd gen era...
Autotune makes all voices sound the same. It takes away the natural tones. Back then they still used some autotune and filters but it was balanced, today they turn on the effect to a 100%.
aahhh i'm 27 now and still love the old kpop and i've been a kpop fan since high school? around 2007. thank you for bringing this back, gonna listen to all of them. big fan of 2NE1 here!
This is era is the peak of KPOP. When a song got popular, that means that the song itself is good musically and production wise. Nowadays, song popularity is heavily based on the fandom size. And these old groups are really singing LIVE in their stages, not just focused on visuals. With current girl groups G(I)-DLE, StayC, and NMIXX are the only groups who are confident with their vocals.
Honestly, I think one of the reasons why these older songs were so good and still are is maybe that their voices weren't so heavily modified and high pitched and autotuned, they all sound so fake and robotic now, its like you're not even listening to a human voice idk. Now they all sound the same
@@nystagmus1036 That's very true as laziness took hold and pretty much anything coming out nowadays is going to sound the same. I don't listen to much modern music myself but if anything, these songs are a testament to what was once a good thing but it's been sabotaged beyond belief now.
@@nystagmus1036 I was listening to that! People sound a lil rougher in these songs sometimes but I like it. Made their voices more unique, I legit cannot tell some of the new groups apart by voice or music style. No idea who TF is playing until I get a look at em.
there is just something special bout 2007-2015 kpop like the vibes are just right everything is just perfect no one can replicate that vibe after that era passed, at most a few more songs from 2016 had that vibe but thats all i want to rewind time and live in that era of music as a teenager and just enjoy life
This makes me feel so damn old. I’m not too much into it anymore, but I pop in to see who’s new on occasion and to listen to the few oldies who are still around. I firmly believe 2006-2016 were the best years for kpop. All the greats were putting out music or stepping onto the scene. You could easily identify groups based on music as well as clothing style. Now almost everyone sounds the same. This weird dubstep rap trend has to end at some point.
Ah!! The difference between Kpop then and now is that they were using disco!! That's why BIGBANG and 2NE1 sounded so different and ahead of the curve, they were using dance/electro instead of disco for a baseline. (TaeYang was pure R&B)
i don’t like kpop anymore, nothing wrong with it, it’s very different from the kpop i was raised with(2007-2017) and i respect all current kpop artists because they’re really talented. but ugh, the old kpop era just hit different. it was so energetic, less problematic, the music truly made me get up and pretend i was clubbing lol. definitely wished groups like u-kiss, secret, vixx, infinite, c-clown, girl’s day, etc were on here.
Totally agree with you!! I only listen to old kpop songs, they were the best and every group had their own unique style... I don't like the new kpop anymore🥺
i still like kpop but am disillusioned by all the suicide from slave contracts and over-work and bullying etc, several of these bands can never exist again becasue the members killed themselves
I also think Infinite has this place here. I don't listen their music but it was such an important group. B.A.P miss also on this list. Their beginning was epic. It was the start of the "bad boy" concept for rookies that was taken by many groups like BTS the next year. Personally, I miss U-kiss but I don't think it was an important group. I just liked listening to their music when I was studying back in time ☺ I also like VIXX and their creative concepts.
I'm always happy when I find NU'EST in this kind of videos, 'cause it means they really made history even when their company didn't support them enough, and disband them after 10 years. They'll always be one of the greatest acts in K-pop not only for their debut, but their story through these years.
I miss this era, back when the fandom is not toxic and actually more supportive towards each other (even if there's a battle of groups popularity example: back then Wonder Girls vs Girl's Generation vs 2ne1 but no fandom bringing down the others), kpop groups is more engaging in friendly manners, female & male idols cutesy interaction without worrying anyone shipping them, no obsessive shipping. No bullying news popping up everywhere. The song is actual song. Storyline mvs. 😭..I know that this era has passed now, I myself has grown older & don't have much time to watch kpop anymore. But I very much shocked how much kpop has changed these days, especially fandom interaction & that some kpop groups value the dance quality rather than the song quality. Also the excessively short & sexy clothes??? 🤨
I got you hahaha. That's also what put me off.. I used tp enjoy Kpop music until it become a trend that idol just focusing on dancing & using their prerecorded voice or they just simply lip syncing 😭 it just.. I prefer listen their actual singing voice even if it may be slightly unstable from dancing, than lipsync. Maybe it just me but I used to really adore idol for their ability to keep their singing voice stable while dancing the coreography.. to me it was showing more talent & showing more effort
I miss when girl groups had multiple concepts instead of everyone trying to do the same thing, and I also miss when girl group members looked so mature and grow-women like (because they were and the majority was older than 20 with one maknae who was 18 at least, they had one minor at best), nowadays everyone looks like a baby (and they are, with oldest member being 18 to youngest being 14??? And most of them minors???) and even the adult idols still look childish for some reason
Really miss when both the boy group and the girl group were able to interact freely and don't feel afraid of their fans attacking them. Back then we were able to ship one member of the boy group with one member from the girl group.
i got into kpop at around 2008 and believe me, even if I still listen to a good amount of 4th gen, nothing compares to the eras that took place before them, the current generation may have surpassed them in terms of viewership, sales, audience reach but it was because of these idols/artists, musicians back in the day who made kpop a global phenomenon that it is today.
The fact that we barely had social media back then (forums, some youtube, etc.) and that these groups went international (especially 2NE1, SNSD, BIGBANG, EXO, and countless others) was INSANE. We should be proud the views we have now, all of these old songs would have had views in the billions if they were released today.
It makes me very nostalgic to see various groups with incredible songs and then see the faces and hear the voices of some idols who are no longer with us. What good times those were.
I recognized all the songs and was there when it was released…My kpop era began with me seeing the 2NE1 poster in my sister’s room and I went search them up….. It was such a great time. I’m After School fans (despite the situation, I will always appreciate them) and Infinite is still my ult bg.
Literally all these songs I can sing along. This is my youth, the happiest time of my life… so much memories. Waiting for each groups comeback. The things is most of us then was into all the groups it wasn’t like …I’m only going to like this and this groups. It was just KPOP. I don’t know most kook groups now and that made me feel old lol
I'm 20...almost 21....I've been listening to kpop for quite some time now...I know majority of them...miss the old days and songs...also it was so much better before...the new gen . ...nope ...they will never reach the same level as the og groups.... suju , snsd , fx , Kara, miss a , tara , to some extent exid....really really miss them...well it's good...groups like suju and snsd are still coming strong...saranghda suju sunbaenim , snsd sunbaenim.... and also love always to my favorite, the grp closest to my heart..Bangtan...saranghda....once an army forever an army..
back when each group had their own colors and companies werent imitating the bigger groups just for some success the downside was there were so many nugus that were so talented yet never made it due to the still small kpop audience
Shinee started me down the road of my love for kpop in 2008. This was the time of great songs, amazing groups, when each day brought a new thrill in music. I miss it very much.❤
Even though Idols treatment by their respective companies were awful and the groups are recycled/manufactured, you cant deny the true talent in all of these groups and individuals. The quality of the songs and a lot of them iconic in their own ways. 2008 to 2015 is definitely the golden era for sure!
I left the kpop community in 2014 ahh this is so nostalgic brb crying. Recently SM groups have been pulling me back in here and there, but the community is crazy different.
Best era of K-Pop for sure. I definitely listen to newer groups and there is good songs now but something about the 2007-2015 period is peak K-Pop for me.
As a 27 year old I have to say this are the best K-pop years ever. Remember back then as a german girl I had to import the CDs from Korea, because the store didn't have any of them. Hehe xd. Best years ever ❤
True, we used to have a variety of groups with individual sounds, concepts and styling. Even for a casual Kpop fan it was easy to tell them apart. Now they all look and sound alike.
