Old Man hates the film The Terminator 

siskel and ebert were really shocked by the violence in it too. Something about the time it was released led a lot of critics to miss the boat.

Even though The Thing came out 2 years earlier and was even more shocking.

The old man was a jerk , he couldn't figure out that this was a condemnation of technology

he talks about the car crashes,explosions;etc.but there is a reason for all of that to happen in the confines of the story,isn't it?
