Hi John - for the basic temp adjustment no need to turn the supply off. its actually better to have shower running when you do it so you can test the temperature is ok for you as you make the changes (turn the adjuster). If you find you cant fix it / get the temp right even turning the adjuster loads of times you may need to take the unit apart to tighten the pin inside the cartridge, I found at this point that leaving the water on a tiny bit (just a trickle) was useful as if you reassemble it wrong it won't seal and water will run out of shower head even in the off position and you wont know until you turn the water back on which is a pain, so leaving a trickle was useful to show if I had reassembled properly without having to turn water off and on all the time. I'm sure there is a knack to reassemble but I never found it - it was more luck than judgement that I got it back sealed and working, I had to try many times! so make sure you take plenty of pics if you have to go down that route to ensure you know how to put it back together.
Hi Chloe - it’s hidden you have to push a small Allen key through the hole which is revealed in the centre of the mechanism - at the back of that hole you will feel the 2nd Allen key slot if you have the correct size key - use a key that just fits through the hole without having to force it - eventually if you fish about you should find the 2nd key finds a home and you can turn something even tho you can’t see it !
@@thecheltenhambrand3259 hello, right in the centre of it, there's a small metal piece which has an Allen key slot, but it was so hard to turn, I think the shape of it has smoothed now. It won't turn anymore. I presume now it won't turn, I'm buggered!
@@JJ-qt8zb yes you are right thats the one you need to remove to get to the hidden adjustment - its unusual that its seized as the parts are stainless steel i think - obvious question but i'm sure you were turning it the correct way? ie to the left!!! sure you were- maybe its just stuck - you may need to give it a light tap with something to break whatever corrosive bond is holding it in? there are ways to remove rounded off fixings - have a google - the normal way i often use is hammer in a larger allen key fixing into the old hole until it gets stuck and use this to turn it but obviously hammering a shower isnt ideal - you can also buy a screw extractor bit or similar there are lots of options
@@thecheltenhambrand3259 yeah, lefty loosey. Good ideas with the hammer and larger Allen key. I thought pliers maybe? Hopefully it's fixable, or its new shower time! 🙄
