Thanks for these and all the other photos you put on here, as a Lincoln born lad, like many other viewers, nostalgia, it sparks memories from childhood..... like the Durham Ox pub, ive heard many stories about this land mark, 🤫🤭 my granddad used to drink in it when he was a young one, the railway pics are my favourite.....
Thanks for that, I hope these videos will be used as a sort of historical archive eventually. I'm Lincoln born and bred and have learned so much through making these videos.
Yes indeed. I think with the very early photos that is partly because people were unused to seeing a photographer so stopped and stared, and also those early cameras needed a long exposure so people were encouraged to stand like statues to avoid blur?
I kind of see why you went on a camping trip. Sometimes the streets are tidy, but it often doesn't look like a place where one would want to live. What about the Higgs shop? Kind of a retreat from it....
I'll never tire of these photos, whatever the presentation. The ones including the oldest cars/transport which I remember, make me smile, as they remind me that I grew up in a different age. The Ford Anglia, Hillman Imp, Morris 1000, Mk2 Jaguar, Mk1 Cortina, Mk1 Escort, Vauxhall Viva, Rover P4 ("suicide" rear doors).. The diesel "car" at Lincoln Central reminds me of the Airfix, OO/HO Diesel Railbus. Although never motorised, I'd push it along the tracks of the very advanced layout which dad built in our 9' x 9' shed; twin track bridge across the doorway, central control panel.. must try to find the photos..
@@lightanddreamsphotography7140 A company in Wales offers new, Mk 1 & 2 Escorts but the basic, "fast road" models are 250 horses & £115k. No.. on both counts. Dad was a TV engineer, following wartime service as a RAF wireless operator instructor. He flew in de Havilland Dragon Rapides (biplane) & my only flight was in the example at Duxford. A memorable hour.
