Nicaragüenses, as w'ell as people from all over central and South America call PR Home today many of them already US citizens. I lived in Florida serving Uncle Sam when retiring I returned here back home to Puerto Rico ☝🏾 I lived in Gainesville Alachua County noticed many didn't know much concerning how Historical Events connected Puerto Rico, Cuba and Florida ☝🏾 Especially when I was confronted by biased persons, I would just humbly educate them with "History"☝🏾 Like for Example: In 1565 the French seized Florida and Pedro Menéndez de Avilés was sent with a fleet of 40 ships and 2,000 men to rescue Florida. Pedro Menéndez de Avilés arrived first in San Juan de Puerto Rico, then in Havana Cuba, recruited more Puerto Rican, & Cuban men, Tainos and Creoles from other Spanish territories, and went straight to Florida, where Spaniards, Puerto Ricans & Cubans founded San Agustín on September 8,1565. I would humbly say Ma'am/Sir, Cubanos and Rican's been here before the first "Red Coats" crossed that Georgia Border 🤣😂

Tom you always on point, but you need too read "War Against All Puerto Ricans". Pedro Albizu Campos was the first Puerto Rican too graduate from Harvard Law school. Pedro Albizu Campos was fighting to free Puerto Rico, and he was burned & tortured with Human Radiation. He was burned so bad that he was paralyzed & mute. The U.S. forced sterilization on Puerto Rican woman from 1930-1970. The U.S. was doing so much evil shit to Puerto Rico & Pedro Albizu Campos was fed up. Please read the book of " War Against All Puerto Ricans " you gonna learn some good History of Puerto Rico. Thanks.

A lot of great memories. I traveled on business to Manati to support our pharmaceutical production. During the 15 years, I must have driven around the island 10 times. It's quite a shame for PR government changed the tax law in the islands. All the pharma companies moved their production to lower tax places such as Ireland and Singapore. The island started to run down and pretty much depending on the tourism to support the economy. The latest hurricane hurt the island very bad but Trump was unwilling to support the rebuilding. It's pretty pathetic to be part of USA.

To add a fun fact about the El Convento Hotel. 01. Room 105 - If still available, guest can’t stay in the room because they fill haunted 02. Several time Guests saw nuns walking thru the hallways. Specially the first 3 floors 03. By the entrance to the boardroom you will see 2 painting, should be the original owner of the building as a kid and an adult. 04. They built a swimming pool during the initial restoration in 1955 by Ricardo Alegria, they found a baby fetus skeleton. 05. 2 large tapestry came from Spain during Restoration. 06. The building have tunnels to the Santo Domingo Convent. 07. From what I understand the building was owe initially by a rich merchant from Spain, they never have kids, the husband died in one of the trip, 08. The building have ghosts. I worked 7 years and I experience the presences,

Great job Tom. Your videos are great, funny and very informative. FYI, the reason why the Puerto Rican flag has the colors of the Cuban flag is because Cuba helped Puerto Ricans whom were persecuted by American government by giving them shelter in their country so we adapted their flag colors in honor of their hospitality and help. Also Dr Albizu Campos was an extraordinary man who wanted the best for the island. Please do more research about all he did and attempted to do for his people and land before and after Luis Muñoz sold his soul and that of the people of Puerto Rico to the US. Overall great video

We have this thing called The Jones Act. Puerto Rico, almost singlehandedly, supports Florida's shipping industry. We pay millions to the United States every year. Federal employees pay federal taxes. The rest of us pay into social security and Medicare. We depend on the US because they won't let us establish our own financial models. Wonder why, huh? Whatever money we get from the US is nothing compared to what we contribute to the US economy. That's something I wish people in the US knew. Hearing them say we're basically a charity case draining resources got old a long time ago. :-/
