I'm 55 remember those days going to look at them , had to piece a bike together , change out upgrades webco, mongóose , to a Schwinn comp ,cook bros. , Alloys and aluminum with everything else for lightness .
Im right there with you Bro my family was to Poor as well✅I was born 1977 in South Central Los Angeles California As a Kid I would go travel 35-minutes down the road to Santa Ana Orange County California Disneyland to watch the Old School 80’s GT Freestyle BMX show’s❤️man I miss those Days✅
@Brandon Duhon, I know the feeling of all my friends owning GTs and Mongooses and us not having enough money to fork out 600 bucks for one of these. Eventually my dad found a way to get me a decent bike but we still couldn't afford the GT Pro Performer so I ended up getting a General which itself was a great bike. Only to have it stolen a year later. I still haven't gotten over that :O(
My sister and I had 2 matching BMX bikes hers was a smaller one because she was younger. I remember the pads were checkered white and blue on one and red and blue on the other. You brought back so many memories.
I had that EXACT Schwinn Predator. I lived in queens NY and I kept it in my parents dining room! Yes they let me. I swapped out all the Black on it for Blue. My friend had one and he made his RED. So I had blue tires with black mags. Blue Mushroom grips and Blue California Lite pads. Goosneck seat pole and blue Viscount seat...Blue Pegs...man that bike was awesome
Super nice collection . reminds me of going to the bike shop as a kid just to drool.got a GT and a GT dyno That have sat around for years. Gonna fix em up a little along with several others. Gotta get my Takara road bike going and start ridding again . getting old and flabby..
My youth was an amazing this is a blast from the past!! I had a goose, red line, and a quadangle! Stayed away from the Ripper didn't want a trip to the welding yard every week!! Nice collection
Man I wish i could go back and tell myself to hoard all my cool 80's stuff....dammit lol. Thanks man, brings back alot of good memories. Great collection!
If I had to pick one to ride home with....errrrmmm.. I love the gooses but I'd take a GT either one..probably the mach..or the Hutch lol...errrrrrrrr...SO MUCH CANDY!!😍😍
My god this brings back so many memories. I think I had a Ross Piranha back in the 80s. All those Mongoose man... Crazy how now they are the "walmart bike"
Just refurbished my 1977 20”DG Racer w/ DG Forks , Shimano Dura Ace 44T Crank and ⚙️ Sprockets, Dia Compe BullDog rear brakes. FMF Handlebar, Pro Neck, Araya & Ukai Rims, GT Hubs , AME Grips, GT LaybAck SEATPOST WITH AN ELINA super light seat.
I loved bmx years ago but never rode seriously, just a fan. I had a Dyno and that’s when Redline and Mongoose were popular, good bikes. Started on a Schwinn (?)
I had a baby blue diamondback viper with white tires that I used to love. Later I got a newer chrome one with black GT star rims, but I would really like to have a baby blue one again.
Always liked SR head set. First bmx i had was a team murray 1982was yellow and black. then few years later got a torker 280x sent from the usa £180 for just the frame & forks. Nice bike.
Nice collection man👍🏻 I had a huffy for my first bike (parents didn’t have a lot of money back in the 70’s) then later in the late eighties a friend in high school sold me an awesome bike he had (needed parts for his 78 v8 camaro😂) which was a beautiful chrome frame skyway with all the best parts on it and of course had to ride it to school one day and proof it was gone first period😢 missed it every day since…especially when my dad’s insurance cut us a check for $750 back in 1988 that was a lot of money!
I always wanted a Skyway T/A, chrome frame, white tuff wheels. A friend had a Torker, another had the VDC Changa and another the PK Ripper. Great times riding around the skate parks.
bikes are gorgeous. the polished and anodizing is unreal. do that continue to make cool bikes like these? or are they better today with new technology?
My issue with some of these bikes and boards is that they would attract too much attention and would likely get stolen. What’s worse is that you don’t want to ride them because you might mess them up. Same with some of the boards. Likewise I like your bikes and what a lot of people are doing these days by taking modern parts and using old bmx frames, that’s so cool and practical IMO. You see with cars getting REALLY EXPENSIVE bmx bikes are coming back... Dead serious on that.lol strange times....
I remember having 2 really cool bikes when I was a kid in the 80’s & 90’s......one of them was a black Norco Dirt Race bike (I have no idea what it was called). The other was this weird (and really old) off-road bike with 1 speed and 4 spring shocks (basically full suspension).....I have no clue who made it or what it was called. Sadly both were stolen out of my back yard and I haven’t seen them in at least two decades 😔😡 I’m more into Dirt Bikes these days but that collection you have would be wicked to own, nice to see someone taking the time to resurrect these classics ✌🏻🤘🏻
I'm an uphostery worker those bike seats are eazy to refoam and wrap. Problem is wrinkles and metal bottom. Heat gun and slowly heat corners. Bottom you can drill wood to bottom with self tappers. I cut screws make them shorter so the top side can't be felt. You go slowly the eazy way I'd stretchy fabric or eazy to work with vynil trick is too much material to tuck spread out wrinkles. Or live with wrinkles. It takes like 5 years before your work looks good.spray can glue spray both sides wait till tacky.
What does something like that 83 Redline go for or cost to rebuild? You said you got rid of some, do you have a shop? I had a 1986 Raleigh Reflex Pro. I would like to get it back.
No shop just my personal collection but if I see something worthwhile I usually pick it up even if it's not collection worthy. The 83 redline I picked up frame and fork pretty reasonably the old three piece crank was something I took off of another old bike wheels tires other parts I probably have around $350 in it should be worth 500 to 600 I'd say
I had,and raced a 79 motomag,like many,i moved on to a kuwahara,then a haro freestler,then a redline,im am now kicking myself for getting rid of any of them,if only we knew 😔
