Great video and very fine camera work as well! Like the view from down track looking at starting line, and one of my favorites is hearing the entire rig "sing" going through the finish line!
Nice display of vintage style dragsters, Would love to see the time/speed board at the end of the run whenever possible. Some of these cars look like they are really goin' and it would be great to see the numbers! Thank you!
@@williamcox281 I want there but I imagine it had something to do with breaking traction shifting from 3rd to 4th with his blown and injected 40 Willys. 10.10,s in 1962.
Very nice video. It would add to the experience if the camera would capture the lights on all the runs, so we could know the times and the winner. Not always possible, but it would be helpful where you can.
I get why the trax were shortened to 1000' after Scott Kalitta's fiery fatal death. That's a terrible video to watch :( The 1/4 mile track is 1320 feet and you wouldn't think that 320 feet would affect the race so much but it makes it look like some sort of warm up, doesn't it? Or a trial run. The funny cars and top fuel races go so fast you count "One Miss..." and it's over!! I'm certainly all for safety for the drivers. I was a safety guy at a university for over 20 years. i wouldn't ever want the drivers to take on any more risks than necessary. But 1/4 mile racing as I used to call it, and other people did, is kind of risky to begin with, isn't it? What if they shortened the quarter mile of 1320 feet to 1100 feet? That would slow those monster machines down just a little bit. And it would give the spectators a little pinch of extra time to get more of a look at each race. 1000' "sounds" more proper of a number I think. But that's just how the mind works. They could set the race to 1176' if they felt like it. It doesn't need to be some sort of "scientific" sounding number. How about 1134'? Now anybody reading this post thinks I'm making fun of drag racing but I AM NOT!! I'm trying to get the NHRA to consider a wee bit longer race that still keeps safety in mind!! Make a longer track. Pick a number that you like. 1139' Just give us spectators a little more. And not so much that we're worrying about the drivers being at risk of some sort of Kallita crash!! Of course I don't really know too much, as you can tell. And I thought the 1000' race was supposed to be a temporary measure to begin with, to see how well it worked.? Well it seems to have worked. I just think it might need a bit of tweaking, that's all. I'm a fan, ya know!! HAHA.
Don't call this old school!! 1/8th mile is not old school. its for boy racers and guys that are afraid of real speed. Old school were real men that raced a quarter mile!!!!
@@curtvick2892 excellent for you Curt. I'm happy to hear that some folks get to live their dreams. Unfortunately for me, I have lived my whole life of 56 years without being able to reach my dream of racing a big bucks operation. I've raced on and off on the only track near me for 30+ years. It's an 1/8 mile track and it is bracket racing. Bracket racing is the only racing I've been able to afford and compete in. My desire to race is still in my bones and there are a few of us that sorta take offense to comments like yours. I do congratulate you on your success but "little folks" like me still like to race. Please let us have our fun too without being so thoughtless with the "boys" comments. Thank you for your consideration.
