here are a bunch of tricks that we're invented before the flatground ollie. To make this video more fun i was jumping into this old school outfit. what a video! :D Patreon: / jonnygiger Buy my Pro model: www.theshredqu...
i'm 50 and Jonny I enjoyed this but, I wanted to see you use the old school deck . I've done the same tricks back early 80's and definitely harder on such as the deck you purchased . brought back lotta memories , great vid., you should try to find an old mullen deck ?
THESE TRICK WERE DONE ON 9-10' DECKS BUT VERY HARD , AND IF PEOPLE COULD DO THEM DURING THE LEARNING OUR SHINS WOULD BE HIGHLY BRUSED .ALOT OF FALLING , I HAVENT SKATED SENSE 1998 DUE TO KNEE AND ANKLE INJURIES,AND THE PROGRESION OF SKATING IS GOT'N ENDLESS,I LOVE IT , BUT HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IT ALOT HERE RECENTLY ,AS I'VE GOT A NEPHEW THAT IS INTERESTED IN SKATE'N .
@@thekelsek6337 thats same here lol however freestyle oddly enough helped alot learning front foot late flip variations. people dont like me playing them in skate except if its team skate lol
Jonny, I can honestly say your channel is the sole reason I decided to skate again. It's been about ten years since I last skated and I was never really good. Just ordered the parts online, we'll see how it goes!
Florida in the 80's we're using this exact type of old school board Jonny purchased for freestyle, halfpipe & etc. My 1st board of this type was a Powell Peraltra Bones - We didn't have all the tricks as we have today, yes some less as wide boards were available, but back then we were transiting from the plastic deck era, so most all of us surfer, skaters were so glad to get a wider deck ''even though the decks were heavy no concave action except for the tail and no pop that's the reason's why Jonny did not use the board - Piumarta i.e. Santa Cruz Skateboards was who created a machine that measured pop that lead to the new design that's still n use today, which makes all our skateboard tricks possible ''Great Job Piumarta & Thank You! - Much Love Everyone & Keep Surfing & Skateboarding ''Keeps You Young'' 🙂🙃
Skating the bowl is definitely fun. But incredibly hard to film alone. This video is great. And you look way to comfortable in your 80s gear. Keep crushing it Sir.
you did great showing off some old school tricks, and you are right about using two boards we also rode two boards one on top of each other, not sure if it was called this or not but a crab walk-board sideways feet each foot on ends or the kick turns to move forward without putting your feet on ground. I am 60 years old and for a long time I was way to big and lost my balance but just lost all that weight and got back on the skateboard about two months ago and i was able to still do at least one 360 and kick turns. still need to practice moving again with my foot. loved watching the old tricks that i use to do.
That board from the thrift shop was just like mine - not the colours/design, but the tape, the plastic everywhere - I had a huge amount of plastic on the tail. Great stuff.
Jonny, it's just so great to see you pay tribute to these old tricks and Flatland Freestyle! It always looks easier than it is, but these tricks are / were the foundation of modern Street Skateboarding! This is coming from an old dude, at age 55 who still skates, LOVES skateboarding, and is one of the few who actually can claim to have invented a signiture trick....the YOYO Plant. I'd love to see other people to pull it off.....go out and try it! Greetings from Germany.............
Family friend Shawn was a skater for the Pepsi pro east coast team way back in the day. He could spin on 1 truck forever. Those dudes would come flying at a bunch of people laying down, jump off the board and land on another one on the other side. Manuals on top of other boards, whole bunch of crazy stuff. Thanks for the blast!
Still got my board from the early 90s...powells happy hippies, with indipendend trucks etc... Will grab this this spring and do some street skating again.. After approx 25 years pause.. Lol...
Purely worth the watch to see Jonny to a Purebutter *properly*. (It's not actually called a Strawberry Milkshake. I'm pretty sure Braille just made that up)
Can we get a series of Jonny just doing normal stuff with his constant level of amazement? The dude is pure happiness personified. Finds joy in all things. Beautiful.
I feel like the new generation of skaters deserve the old school tricks so they can learn to make more fluid lines. It's like cumulative experience by combining the various elements with modern techniques. I wish I could skate half as well as anyone on here but I at least get the concepts and how they flow. Physics is fun after all, huh?
I enjoyed this video very much because I skateboard like old school style, my favorite tricks are no complys. 3 60 spin, though when I do my 3 60 spin I step my left foot off my board while i rotate my right foot all around back to regular, among other tricks that are oldschool I do or I try😀
When you are doing those spins on one truck if you pick a spot and keep your eyes on it as you spin it can help you keep your balance better. Examples are ballerinas or ice skaters when they spin in place like that.
