I have watched several of your "old school stock car" vids and I love them! Here's some trivia for ya. At 1:02 you see Ron Hutcherson & Ernie Derr from Keokuk,Iowa. I grew up in Keokuk and in the 1970's we had a sigh in town declaring Keokuk as "The Racing Capitol of the World "! We had more professional racers per ca pita than anywhere else. Along with Ron & Ernie were Ron's brother Dick Hutcherson , Don White , Ramo Stott , brothers Lem & Gordy Blankenship , Jerry McCredie , etc. When Dick Hutcherson retired from driving he moved south , teamed up with a fellow named Pagen , and Hutcherson - Pagen Enterprises built the majority of the chassis used in the the NASCAR cup series during the 1980's. When Dick still lived and raced out of Keokuk he had a concrete contracting business to help ends meet in the off season. Dick formed and poured the foundation and basement of the house I live in to this day. About 60 years or so since then. I myself raced a hobby stock car for a season when I was 18 and even though Don White was a big deal in USAC stock cars (look him up)he was very kind , helpful and generous with his time to a kid with nothing that he didn't know from Adam. GREAT GUY , never forget you Don.
At 2:22 #58 is "Marvelous" Merv Treichler from Sanborn, New York. Photo is taken @ Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, New York which has been closed since 2017. Merv is the only driver to have won both the big Syracuse race for dirt Modifieds in 1981 and 1982 and the asphalt Race of Champions at Langhorne in 1970. Oh, by the way he's also won on the road courses at Watkins Glen and Daytona with a Monza bodied Modified.
