I went to investigate an Old St Augustine Florida Fishing tale of Landlocked Monster Snook trapped in a freshwater borrow pit close enough to the beach that many years ago there was a hurricane and flooded the area which enabled some big saltwater fish to go into this tiny lake and get trapped. As the water went down the fish had no way out. Some say that there is 40lbs Snook that got trapped 20 plus years ago in this freshwater tiny hidden lake in the woods.
I had to use my GPS to get to this lake because it has no visible trails leading to it and the woods were really thick. I emailed an old guard that worked at the state park and he confirmed the rumor was true, and that the million dollar question is, "Are they still there?" that was for me to find out. It's the most magical tiny lake ever full of life with 2 feeder creeks running into it, the perfect environment to create a monster. Come on this great adventure with me to beautiful St Augustine Florida now to find out if the snook still live in this lake or if they are all gone. #fishing #shorefishing #catchandrelease

I was a Park Ranger there at Anastasia State Park, and yes there is a little saltwater pond back there behind the Ranger Motorpool. That has a little stream that goes to it that feeds from Salt Run

It's a great fishing tale, would love to still see someone catch the 40lbs monsters that are talked about, it's definately the right environment. I'm going to have to make a new video soon and investigate some more and see if they really exist and get my hands on one.

So much for secret spots !! Cool you got it, but not cool giving the exact spot . Lol

I didn’t give the exact spot anywhere in the video and I also don’t think anyone can find it based on the video, because people were asking “where’s that?” The only ones that are giving it away are the ones that know where it’s at and are commenting about it in the comments, not me. If you know where it’s at don’t comment about where it’s at lol and if anything if you have been there recently the “place” must have plans for it because they are digging a road next to it.

Great! Everyone should catch fish, abide by the laws and pick up their trash. I always leave spots looking like I was never there.

I know a few rangers very well and unfortunately dexided that they're actually opening it up for public use and even going to be putting in a fishing dock as well. It was an awesome little hidden gem for locals and a few other people that were doing their homework and willing to do some exploring. Their are some big tarpon in there as well. And that feeder creek almost never runs completely dry. It's like a little bait highway.

Thanks for the comment Sam, that would explain the road I seen being plowed over there, that's to bad. You nailed it on the nose, about being an awesome little gem. I remeber many years ago when I found it, I think part of the challenge and adventure was getting there, more so than the fishing, I went through those woods and never seen so many spiders in my life that morning! lol

Amazing, I live in NY but I’m in the St Augustine area at least once a year. I’ve been looking at this pond on google for literally years wondering what it’s about!

That trail wasn't there 5 years ago, they shouldn't have plowed it, now its easier to get to, but I will keep it on the low, your buddy asked me if that's what it was, I can delete that if you like, but he asked lol

Before anyone thinks I'm giving away their secret spot I'm not, for a number of reasons, I wanted to address a few things, lets discuss it if anyone disagrees and have a positive discussion: 1) I have known about this spot for 10 years and talked to people that have know about it longer, I have the emails to prove it, I'm a pioneer of this spot, so its actually my secret spot. 2) If anyone knows where this is, its not from my video, they already knew or where aware of it. 3) This was my first time back here in probably 5 years, because there are a million other spots to fish in Florida, anyone that figures out where this is will most likely not put in the effort to get to it, and the cost, and if they do they will probably be an above average respectful fisherman (I hope) 4) If anyone does find it, the chances of them catching anything are slim and wont go back. Most likely go one time. 5) Ask yourself this question, if you do know about it, when was the last time you went? It's probably been a very long time. You can't protect something you don't fish or maintain. 6) If it makes anyone feel better maybe I should let some juvenile Tarpon go in there to liven the places up, and see if we can grow 100lbs monsters in there, now that would be a great show! I appreciate you all watching, make sure you subscribe to my channel.
