My Uncle loved Old Style. He started drinking it in 1952 and drank it til the day he died. He use to always say “ One for the Old Style!” I miss my uncle. Old Style is Chicago’s beer
G. Heileman started in 1858 and G. Heileman's brewery in 1872, La Cross Wisconsin. Old Style was its biggest seller and the 4th largest brewery in United States in 1983, so it's not a small unknow beer! It used to be huge in Chicago and Wisconsin. Not sure how popular it is today with the advent of all the "craft" beers.
I live in the non-chicago part of illinois, and I love this beer. but in the more rural parts of illinois there's a lot less old style, and a lot more miller and bud. It's still pretty easy to find at liquor stores, but not so much at bars in the area.
You kinda went on and on. Ok I get it. However I grew up with a buddy whose parents escaped Hitler’s Germany. His parents worked hard and became working man’s wealthy. They loved Old Style Beer. We were living in the Chicago Suburbs at the time.
Love Old Style! Hope it picks up steam like PBR did. It's the same price range, and tastes wayyyy better than PBR. Pabst can't hold a candle to Old Style.
Old Style was and still is pretty popular in Chicago. Not sure how popular these days, but I still see Old Style signs outside of bars all over. It is a cheap beer and it has a light flavor but that's ok. I've had some cheap beers where yak piss would be preferable. It's kind of like the cheese pizza of beer. It's simple and basic but sometimes that is what I want.
You should really keep up the budget friendly beer reviews. Really enjoyed this one! Would love to see PBR, High Life, and others. Some blind tastings between 3-4 selections would be great as well.
Beer is supposed to be simple. The stuff you young guys drink today, the craft beers, are not real beer. You're not suppose to be tasting honey with a touch of nuttiness and a hint of flora, that's not beer it's hybrid beer ! OS is good beer, I can understand you thinking it sucks, but most real beer drinkers will be totally satisfied with old style
A beer my family from the UP of Michigan loves is Blatz. Up by them it's roughly 14 bucks for a 24pk. I can't seem to find it most places around me in central Wisconsin but I have found a few stores that carry it.
Yeah bro if you ever come up to Illinois Midwest East Chicago Indiana Gary Indiana that's what we drink up here no we drink a lot of beer but my camp drink a lot of old style just got that flavor that Crisp taste can't get enough of man oh yeah and it's cheap for a six pack is only $3.25 😂😂😂😂🍻
@@Icarusvampire You are 100% correct. The old 'Fully Krausened' Old Style was very good beer. Now it's just a name plastered on a can of generic beer made as cheaply as possible.
Dude, that's from God's country, (that's what the commercials used to say). The beer of my growing up days. We used to make up & tell stories about the things on the can. My father used to drink that & put in salt when the head dissipated. I am from the Chicago suburbs and most bars would have an Old Style sign out front or a neon in the window. Extremely popular here years ago.
