Sucks Tiff didn't stay on Top Gear. He is a fun and entertaining host as well a far superior driver. 5th gear was a good show and had fun hosts, but could never keep up with the budget of TG.
Mclaren f1, the best ever. To this day the fastest naturally aspirated car ever made. Such an ICON. MCLAREN WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST AT WHAT EVER THEY DO.
Don't think he had a choice......... He wouldn't fit in new format. We will never find out but it wouldn't have given top gear the chemistry it had with Hammond and May. When you watch the first episode of the "new" top gear you can see they where struggling for audience. Seems no one knew what was coming.
you're right, he had no choice. when original tg was cancelled, he wanted to start a new show with that name, but they wouldn't let him have it, so fifth gear was born. and clarkson got to re-do top gear. i think it worked out well. well, up to the punching incident anyway...
I remember seeing an electric blue Lotus Elan one summers day with the roof down in around 1988 and it looked bloody awesome!!The rear end was stunning!!
I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, but I think he neglected to mention a pretty damn cool selling point for the center-seat setup: ingress and egress are, I assume, relatively similar in practice, pretty much ensuring that you can always get in and out, even if someone parks close enough as to block one of those fancy doors from opening (which is quite unlikely in itself, with the minimal space used by the scissor-ish door setup).
Tbh ive been a top gear fan for about 5-6 years now and this is my first time seeing the originals, its good but weird not seeing Hammond, May and the Orangutan

How is the XK8 convirtible faster to 60 and 100 and has a higher top speed? Did put the numbers in the wrong place or did Jaguar actually just chop the roof off with no extra reinforcements to the chasis?
Great old days when cars were great when simple cars daily cars were great well built. Now days cars are built of tin and plastic which is recyled plastic and cheap recycled cloths that you throw In charity bins are used for seats and doors. I mean you can get a brand new car and maybe pay 30k for it but that's what you going to get. Not like good high end quality when wood was real or even plastic was real hard quality plastic that lasted 20+years and seats made of sude or alctera and good leathers, also uses to be comfortable like your sofas.
The headlights from the front.. aren’t quite handsome.. and of course they fall apart..why? Do they need a better glue????I absolutely love the 928 S-4 and my first Audi Quattro..first car.. But the 959 was my favorite..
Tiff has always been an incredible driver, not Schumacher good but enough for Ferrari to let him loose in Prosts F1 car plus the cars are damned good and Clarkson wasn't being such an idiot. I still loved how it evolved with May and Hamster but the new one is a steaming pile of turd only made slightly better with that ginger idiot Evans quitting. It may get better, same with the Amazon thing Clarkson is doing
Elegant? Sure but something is missing.. When new RX 7 came out with the wing a new engine, I thought that was more exciting and ingenious than the beautiful but tiring AM.The Viper, Vette, Ferrari 550 Maranello was so much cooler then the 355 or any previous pony..The 944 turbo, 935 Turbo, 928 S-4, and the upcoming Boxster was a great little drivers car with mid engine., finally..balance and just a better feel..
Never really liked the DB7. Especially since I heard it's chassis is from a Jag XJS lmao. You only buy it for 007 puns. XKR is better 😏, sure that's automatic only not manual, but this is a GT, not a full on supercar.
@greathey1234 Well... that's your opinion. If it was strictly on beauty, the DB9 and Vantage in 2005 definitely are beautiful. They got it soo right with those cars.
If Aston Martin had the build quality of jaguar.. they would be so popular… So what’s the problem? Why can’t they build as well as the Germans or Japanese? It’s very shameful of course it took a long time and things are better now but there really was no excuse back then…
Back then cars in the 90s could not keep up with Japan's cars at all. There all slow but there now fast enough to keep up but there still somewhat slow while japan still making fast cars to prove why they are the speed kings

Sorry I was rather ill and not thinking straight when i posted my original reply. My point being that they they are using a non street car, non current car for as a bench mark to run UP against "other" fast and furious cars. All cars being considered were performance tested and bench marked. All cars being considered were publicly purchasable. Ferrari F1 Clienti did not start operations until 2003, so it is not a public car. So until 2003 no one could privately own a Ferrari F1 race car (sort of own), let alone that it is not a current. You would need to be a time traveler to do that.
Can you imagine getting cornered at a dinner party with Tiff Needell? Every third word out of his mouth is a number - even down to telling us, for some reason, the cooking time for Carbon Fibre. ZZZzzzzzzzz The real difference between him and Clarkson is that Jeremy sees 'super' cars for what they actually are - very expensive toys for boys who never grew up.
That DB7 is gorgeous..BUTT... and a huge one..it’s slower than my infiniti EX37.. yes.. it’s a 2013 wagon with AWD and about 325hp tuned to another 40hp..The air fuel mix is designed to explode a bit more giving it more torque and a 0-60 approximately 5.3 seconds for a overweight but beautiful mid SUV.. and it actually reminds me and others of an old Jaaaaaaag!!!Mixed with Porsche Macaan lines..it’s a looker..and has a very nice although NOT Bentley like interior..🎊Still wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a collectible like the new MX5 2018 Mazda t-top..and the BMW Z8/Z4-and of course the obvious Alfa Romeos..
