I always had a good laugh at the hokey dinah in the videos. Now it all makes sense!

One of the most important items on my yak... the urinal 😂 20:41 Thanks for the video, it’s always nice to see how other people are set up. Good info on the gear tracks and t-bolts. I’ll check mine out.

Great video Jesse! I really enjoy your comparison between the Scotty 343 and the YakAttack GTTL90 - the difference in T-Bolt size is huge and something I hadn't considered before. I know whenever I move my 343s I have to make sure I back off the T-Bolts before tightening them to make sure they are grabbing the rail properly. An alternative to the Scotty braided downrigger line is PowerPro makes a similar product for about half the price. Most important reason, IMHO, for switching to it on a yak is the safety aspect - being able to cut it if things go sideways. I'm using a Scotty 1060 where I shortened the boom arm and then attached it behind my seat with a quick release plate (and one on the inside flipped upside down to be a makeshift backing plate). It's good having a line counter and single hand operation, but I partly wish I went for the Cannon downrigger with the vertical orientation as it may be less awkward. I think KC are looking at changing theirs next year to it. Still, was able to use a 10lb ball at 150' off Kitty Coleman hump this season with no issues (other than it being a huge PITA to drag around and reset with shakers). One upgrade I think you may want to do is the rudder pin upgrade, if you haven't already. You can either DIY it, or grab the kit from Navarre. Just a bolt, some nylon washers, and a nut, but it allows you to really tighten up the steering. That can be pretty important if you need to let go of the rudder control and still keep on the same heading.

Thanks for all the info! I did replace my rudder bolt with Navarre's. It's funny you mention that, as I recorded a bunch of that rudder bolt discussion for this video but cut it out because I thought it was too boring for the audience (as the video is pretty long as it is). As for the downrigger, I'm looking to upgrade to the Cannon downrigger that goes behind the seat, and mounted using the "V-Lock" custom plates. I'm pretty interested to learn more about the Scotty 1060, how are you mounting that? I'm assuming something similar to the V-Lock or aluminum/starboard plates mounted.

Did my first little bit of bottom fishing on the island this past season and am itching for a kayak to open up more water haha

@@KeepCastingNW 100% recommend it! Kayak fishing is growing fast here in PNW and rightfully so. It’s a blast, and opens up salmon fishing all year round. (Although best in summer). Can’t say enough good things about kayak fishing.

Glad YT tossed me your video and channel! I just bought mine yesterday and waiting for it to ship now, going to have the winter to mess with setting it up.

I had Scotty send me the proper T-bolts. If you reach out to Scotty they will have you send them a pic and then mail them to you at no charge.

Great walk through and video as always bro! Couple recommendations: Our Scotty Laketrollers are getting retired this off-season, definitely going to be switching to the Cannons, also after having a solid year with the Navarre aluminum rudder upgrade, we highly recommend it! 👍 Happy Holidays from our fam to yours! We need to make a plan for getting out together in 2024! Cheers!

100% would love to connect in 2024. Also took your advice, I got the aluminum Ridder, just need to install. And I bought the Easi-Troll Cannon downrigger, mounting it with the V-lock system.

@BCFishingJournal nice that was our plan as well, are you still thinking behind the seat for the downrigger?
@BCFishingJournal
@BCFishingJournal 6 месяцев назад
@@kckayakfishing yes, basically copying “Spilt Milt Productions” channel install. The only challenge will be the boom cut/drilling as it’s stainless steel on the Easi-Troll.

@BCFishingJournal yup that was our plan too! Also hoping to attach a drill to the downrigger, would be amazing to not have to worry about cranking up the ball!

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people put docking plates on and adding those. What kind of kayak are you using or looking to add the motor too?

Pardon me, that looks more like something from my old Saturday morning cartoons. Im expecting to see Inspector Gadget. Limits for gear needs to be placed on tournaments for kayaks.

What do you mean? Aside from a cart and a $160 fish finder, he’s got a pedal driven kayak.
