Amen! Got fishing line wrapped all into the prop today and it took less than a minute to clear it and peddle on! I have the other two items installed as well and they do exactly what Nick claims!
Thanks for another great video. The one major upgrade I made was to fix the constant back and forth wobbling of the drive unit while I was peddling. I "glassed" it (as in glassing a rifle barrel). It made a huge difference in performance, not to mention the constant aggravation of having the constant wobbling noise.
Nick you da man bro. Always keeping me updated with the best hacks and innovative stuff going down. I don't have time to put in tons of research hours online with my business and my family and because I like to fish so much. All I have to do is put on your channel and boom. Done. I don't even look anywhere else. I go with the guy that is doing it seven days a week making his living off his hobby. 👊🏼
I have upgraded my Sportsman 120 PDL with I believe 7 of Nick's products. ALL of them improve the performance of the kayak but I agree 1000%%% with this video. The bolt and steering knob are obviously used constantly when peddling and are therefore super helpful but let me tell you, when you wrap 10 years of someone's lost fishing line around your prop in the middle of the lake, that floating prop nut is INVALUABLE, period! No more digging for a wrench and praying you don't drop the nut in the water! Pop the prop off, undo the mess, pop it on and away you go!
Nick, you're the man Bro. I couldn't make up my mind for two years. I researched so many boats. I wanted my kayak, motor ready on the stern. Either, For a Bixpy, NK 180/300 or Torqueedo 403/1103. But I also wanted a 120 and a fun or PDL drive. It's not the $$. I had saved 5k for just my kayak, and whatever was left would cover some accessories and I purchased the rest, for my setup. But the odtown Hull I have been able to test along with a few others. They're built strong, rugged. And you make just about everything. 💯 🎣 🌊
Just bought and installed all 3 of these and love them. 1 tip I’d give 1st timers is because of the way your shear pin is situated, when removing the propeller on the water make sure the blades are positioned straight up/down. Because if you pull the propeller off while it’s left/right, the shear pin will drop straight out. Don’t ask me how I learned this.
Ha! It happens. If you spray corrosion inhibitor on the shear pin it makes it tacky and the shear pin won’t rust or fall off. Here’s a video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HOrgqm6rIFU.html
@@NavarreKayakFishing Im not super picky! I think the Richardson 112 hats are solid and pretty cheap to get! Grey/white or black, or even a khaki color would be sweet. You could also get some brighter colors if you like that
Now I wish I had watched this first! I ordered a bunch of things recently. They are on the way to me now but I didn't snag the replacement handle for the rudder control. Oh well, next time! Excellent video.
Great idea buddy. You have me sold on those items. I agree with the rudder being sloppy. I like the idea of the handle not being a grab all. Keep up the good work buddy.
Thank you!!! 🙌🙌🙌 You’ve just solved a MAJOR problem of mine. I’ll have to see if you have any videos on a squeaky PDL drive? I just picked up some PB blaster, hoping that helps?
I think these items will be immensely important. The rudder bolt and steering control knob will solve my 2 major issues and the floating prop thingamajig is icing on the cake! Is there a special if all 3 items are purchased?🙂
Installed our Rudder Bolts in our Salty's yesterday within a few minutes & makes a difference.. Gonna grab some scupper plugs & 2 of the Control knobs, my top 1/2 of my Stock knob popped off while paddling in shallow water yesterday Only our 2nd time out! I noticed those 2 black inserts on Both our Salty's for the rudder rope are popping out on the bottom also. They came like that from the factory. 😤 Not sure if this is normal or not. I can put some sealant on them but they won't push & stay in flush like our steering cable inserts
Hello Nick, love your videos and your items. I am about to receive a new 2024 ePDL+ Sportsman 132. Will that floating knob also work on the new ePDL assuming it will? One knows what happens when one assumes. I just looked at your Navarre store's website. I don't see the floating orange prop knob if that will work for my ePDL and I don't see the orange steering device that replaces the original gray round tensioner? Are they not listed being out of stock or how am I missing them?
Just bought a 106 pdl and love it, BUT... When peddling in reverse I am feeling a thumping vibration that is not happening when peddling forward. Have you ever noticed this? Thanks for helping.
Thanks for the video! My pedals won’t turn. I watched your other videos and will take apart the unit tomorrow. Any suggestions on what might be causing the pedals to stick ? I cleared out fishing line from inside the prop but unfortunately that didn’t do the trick. Thanks
I've got the bolt and prop nut on my 106MK. What if I drop my prop? Will there ever be a floating prop? I do have two props already stashed in my storage compartment.
Nick, what’s your opinion on fishing offshore with this salty pdl. I haven’t seen many reviews on RU-vid featuring this particular kayak in rough water. The top water pdl yeah, but not the salty 120.
I think it did pretty good everywhere with the exception of the surf. If water comes over the front the area in the front fills with water pushing the kayak down. I was surprised how much it dropped the front of the kayak.
I can’t say I have much experience with the Salty and anyone else in it. It’s stable though. The Predator sits high and can cause some problems when leaning of the person doesn’t carry the weight well.
I’ve got the 132 pdl and I’m big I can stand up in it I’m 380 lbs and it works great Best Buy yet super sturdy can sit on the side with both feet in the water on one side in 30 ft of water wouldn’t stress buying one!
my PDL was recently delivered and i was surprised at how geary it felt, particularly in reverse. is there a break in period or should i talk to the manufacturer / distributor? i am using the upgraded knob for the prop but i cannot imagine that is affecting anything.
@@NavarreKayakFishing ok cool I’ll keep an eye on it. That makes some sense. Reverse stayed flat out bad, geary and rough. forward doesn’t feel terrible.
Hey Nick I purchased and installed the rudder bolt from and I took it out this week. It tracks so much better now. My only issue is now when I turn the steering knob, the rudder squeaks like crazy. Do I maybe have it too tight? Any ideas? Thanks.
Wanted to know if you can help me with my throttle on my 106 mk . Used it today and my throttle does not click into neutral anymore. The throttle just floats from forward to reverse .Kayak is not even a few months old … used only 3 times. Can you help me ?
