My maternal and paternal grandparents grew up in Western Ukraine in small villages before immigrating to Canada. I can only imagine that there life was simple and beautiful like this. Have never heard of onion pancakes though - potato yes. Slava Ukraina!

AFK onion pancakes were basic food on the east of Ukraine in soviet-provoked hunger times of soviet occupation. My grandma shoved this recipe (but without tomatoes). They taste like deruny (hashbrowns), but the smell of onion imitates meaty taste.
