Both decks are genuine copies. The pocket version has been corrected. I think that the pocket edition has the original backs which were previously rejected. The larger version had its highlights and saturation boosted for print which made it appear washed out and lost the finer detail of the colour pencil. I much prefer the pocket edition and hope that one day it will be released as a standard edition with better card stock.

You can definitely tell that they did a better job with the newer version. I could find the larger version for sale but only as a deck/book set. See my video description fr a link if yr interested. Thx for watching and sharing! 🙏🏻💖✨

So, I can’t speak to if it’s a knockoff, or simply a newer version than what I have. I first got the Universal Waite in the … I want to say ‘70s or ‘80s but maybe it was in the ‘90s, it was just a long, long time ago. (Completely different box.) It was my go to deck, I loved it so much. It’s got soft pastel colors, nothing like your regular size deck looks like, and I loved it so much I also bought the pocket version. I actually at first was a little disappointed because the pocket version was not quite as soft at the full size, but it was close enough, still beautiful and became the only deck I used for years and years. (Thick as a brick from use, by this point.) It’s an unfortunate story of many tarot decks how they are altered in either the reprint or the printing themselves, and certainly the card stock, of the later decks. I’m in bed about to go to sleep right now, but I have my own tarot channel and will endeavor to do the exact same review that you did here, for you, but with my original (both of them) decks. The colors of your large deck truly are garish, but that’s what has happened with the classic yellow box deck, as well. It’s a shame. If I have time this weekend, I’ll pop off that video for you and let you know. Thanks for this. Interesting to see the differences.

The artwork on the Universal Waite will always stand out to me. As a Waite-Smith Enthusiast, and a fan of Mary Hanson-Roberts and her Tarot, this deck will never leave my collection. Thank you for sharing your space and for the review! 🌟🌟🌟

There is another Universal Waite deck published in 1990 colored by Mary Hanson-Roberts. It is the standard tarot size. It comes in a tan colored box. You may be able to get them on eBay.

I think that maybe the smaller version has been revised so it looks different. I have the larger tuck box version and the coloring is the same as yours. It has an isbn number on box so its not a knock off! I just think its revised in the coloring and the backs!

I think ur right. The coloring and photo quality is much improved on the newer version. The older version looked fine until I compared the two. Thx for watching! 🙏🏻💖✨

The large is not a knock off. The smaller deck has been revised, as well as images always looking better in most cases because they are not blown up the same as larger ones. But that isn’t a knock off deck the larger one. I have a vintage deck, and it’s almost exact to what you’re showing. Which has a gold(ish) colored box. But I have gotten several mini decks since they’ve come out with them. And the imagery seems to look better in smaller decks. Before the last year or so, there was only a handful of pocket size decks. And I do not know for certain if Universal Waite was one or not. But looking at what you’re showing, looks exact to the one ive had for well over 20 years!!! Which I haven’t had to replace. Because I own hundreds of decks and so many of them are RWS versions! BUT- Universal Waite, has always been one of my favorites. I have the white waite, the pastel! I have just Sooo many!!!! I can spot a knock off a mile away! My niece is just getting into reading Tarot, and she has gotten duped buying online so she makes sure to send me links now before ordering!!!! Even though I have a full bin of decks waiting for her to drive 20 minutes to get!!!! But no- I don’t believe that the larger deck is a replica deck. They are BAD! Usually like paper thin. You normally do not even have to question it!!! You KNOW!!!!

They’re all what you see is what you get! Mine look exactly like yours. My Universal RWS, and my mini every day witch- amongst some random print outs. But yep we’re now in Aries season- pyromaniacs lol kidding- sorta!

You are so right about the differences. I just got the pocket version today and am delighted with the print quality. It makes the larger version look washed out . The deck has obviously been 'cleaned up' for the pocket version and I hope US Games releases in a standard size too.

Ive used the same Universal Waite since the mid 90s. At the time mine were printed in Belgium, where I believe the modern versions were printed in Italy then China. I like the pocket version now that I see them side by side. Thanks for the comparison : )

Hello there excellent video comparison I agree with you that the pocket version is much clearer The one thing I absolutely LOVE about the full size version is the card stock and glossy finish to the cards If the pocket version had the glossy finish , that same feeling, it would be in my top decks I would also like to see the new version with the same backing as the original. I’m picky and The Universal Rider-Waite is my favourite deck out of the 300 something decks in do have. Love seeing your videos keep up the great work.!!

Ok. So the cardstock in the pocket version (exact same deck in size and cardstock as the one in the tin) is your typical US Games cardstock for thickness. The finish is not quite as glossy as the original Universal Waite but is definitely NOT matte or rose petal. I would say that the paper has a bit of "texture" that dims the shine a touch. I feel like it shuffles just as nicely as the original Universal Waite. On a side note I have seen this deck in a standard size but only as a part of a deck/book set. I don't want the set but did want the pocket size anyway. However, if it ever goes for sale as just the standard deck alone, I'm buying it. Links for all the Universal Waite decks I'm aware of are in the video description. Thx fr watching and commenting! 🙏💫💖

I imagine after 3 years!!!! If your keys were in the wrong hand. You may got a lot of hate I hope not bc the way I see it. This is the way for families in my financial bracket. I’d sooner wait years and years for an authentic then buy a fake one. Can’t do it.
