I shoot a Schofield and a Single Action Army on a near Weekly basis. The Single Action Army fits better in the hands and points more naturally but the Schofield is the better gunfighter. Why they are usually known historically as " Colt is the Gunfighter and the Smiths are the Target revolvers " is odd. I really do think the Smith had way more things going for it. The Colts are way stronger though
I agree. I like the overall feel of the colt better, but I seem to be a bit more accurate and as fast with the smith. The reloads are much quicker as long as I don't get a case under the star.
SAA have excellent balance and have the most comfortable grip - whether plowhandle or birdshead. I think they are my favourite. The top-breaks feel barrel heavy, but they are quick to reload and have such a cool design.
250 grn loaded over trail boss for cowboy action. Even the max loads are light with that stuff lol. I have yet to load with BP but it would be really fun to shoot frontier class with all that smoke
