Older Than Old! - Metal Detecting finds my oldest coin ever & I got attacked in the process

Myself, Nibbler, Doug, and Leroy all spent the day digging at a 1700's farm and barn. This gracious farmer no longer plants so all the land was available to us for hunting. All was going well until one of the local residence didn't seem to like what I was doing and decided to jump on me, but I dusted myself off and pushed him off like the chicken he was. Good thing too, because a deep faint signal caught my ear and I pulled up the oldest coin I've ever found!

Very nice. 1720! I remember in those days, we would take a farthing and buy a jug of beer with it, and sit by the Thames as boats would ply the river under the Tower Bridge, and read poetry while small roosters would attack us.... Oh these were heady days... hehe... Great finds guys. Cant wait for the next instalment! Cheers.

The lead looked like a Leafy Sea Dragon Seahorse. I think that is what you were trying to remember?! Drink lots of water guys and believe it or not pickle juice to keep your proper salts balanced. It's better for you than gatoraide. Good hunt!

A farthing is 1/4 of a penny in English sterling currency. a penny was two halfpennys (Haypenny) or four farthings.I used farthings right up until 1966 when they were phased out in my home country. A good 1720 farthing sells for $560 USD.

No, it's a rooster. You can tell by the long red "thingys" (LOL) hanging down onto it's chest. Only the males have them that long. The females have them but they are typically much smaller and not prominent.

Here's some info I found: Fantasyland opened in 1959, and was owned and operated by Kenneth and Thelma Dick on 23 wooded acres (later expanded to 35) on the east side of the Taneytown Road south of General Meade's Headquarters and the present National Park Service Visitors Center. Noted for its beauty, tranquility and cleanliness, the storybook land provided over 100 things for the young and young at heart to see and do. Attractions included an Enchanted Forest and Santa's Village; Fort Apache, which was attacked by live Indians; Rapunsel's Castle, and a dairy barn where you could slide into a haymow. All who entered the park were greeted by a talking twenty-three foot Mother Goose.

Thanks Karen! No that chicken bounced right off me. I think his claws hit my camera luckily. I always bring bananas, I just don't always show them. I bury the peel in a hole for good luck!
