As a Dawg fan, I can speak for the ENTIRE SOUTH when I say that this is OUR SONG! If that offends you, as Lewis Grizzard, another great Georgia Bulldog once said "Delta is ready when you are!" From Dixie With Love FOREVER!!!!
As a yankee that moved south as a kid and was forced to play this song in band, I appreciate and remember it with the highest sentimentality. I was a trumpet player and LOVED this song and especially the drumline. Dixieland forever...
You know I went to Jack c hays high school, Kyle, Texas class of 2004. I do like the Dixie song always have always will be and I still got the real flag and I still support it thumbs up.
Now, this is music! God bless the south! I am so sad/mad/frustrated/etc. that the Ole Miss admin cut both these songs from the bands line-up. Beautiful, beautiful music
Never thought I was being racist or waved the confederate flag and hating blacks in the stadiums I've been in. Apparently, I was! I despise political correctness!
Nothing better than the way the Ole Miss band plays Dixie!!! Simply BEAUTIFUL!!! This takes me back so many years since I was a student cheering for the Rebels with my Rebel flag singing Dixie with my hand over my heart. Nothing but Rebel football pride.
In my America we stand for the Star Spangled Banner whenever we hear it and either render a salute or place our hand over our heart. We also stand when we hear Dixie.
unfortunately my university sold its self i would love to see this come back but oxford and ole miss have given in and not stood next to the things that made them grate one day hopefully but untill then the memories live on
Just one of the best fighting songs ever in the Civil War people got it all wrong they think it's all about race hatred wrong it's not what it's about that flag is just about a flag of American history you take away all of our making history and we've got nothing so don't let the damn Democrats or anti-antifa or the government tells us different because we have a right to waive the battle flag of the Confederacy and we have right to sing Dixie hooray for the South God bless Robert E Lee Stonewall Jackson Andrew Jackson Jefferson Davis but we can't forget about old man Pickett Pickett's Charge in Battle of Gettysburg God bless the South
There is nothing wrong with this song, it isn’t about the whites and blacks, it’s about the south and even Elvis Presley sang it and he was not racists. BEAUTIFUL SONG BRING IT BACK Ole Miss!!
You know, Jesus died for confederate sins also. Confusion? Who said you were right in all your ways. Edit: Jesus died for every man on planet earth. Look away, look away, Dixie land. P.S. oh yeah, ROLL TIDE! I loved hearing Dixie played by the ole miss band.
Nothing wrong with the song. Nothing wrong with the South. Nothing wrong with the rebel flag, except stupid, misguided individuals have to let it be a symbol of racism, bigotry, pretending Dixie won the Civil War, and slavery as an institution should have continued on to this day. THAT is wrong..
bret shaw the Franklin county Rebel Pride Marching Band (aka FCHS REBEL PRIDE BAND) also play "From Dixie with Love" and it makes me feel so at home and alive when I hear and play it. You can look up FCHS Marching Band or FCHS Rebel Pride Marching band to see our half time show and to see us perform.
My high school plays Dixie and I'm proud of it! This song brings back SO many memories! Cant wait for two more football seasons of amazing memories and Dixie!!
As a Tennessee Vols and Ole Miss Rebels fanatic I gotta say I do miss hearing Dixieland at the Miss games. Love hearing it as much as Rocky Top! Volunteer Rebel 4 Life!
When you're in the stands and the drums come in at that 1:37 mark, just blows you away. Body moving with the bum bum bum bum....and picks up so by the time the team was running on the field everyone was out of their seats. It was a wonderful feeling and these are beautiful pieces of music that if you didn't know what it was you would have no complaints. All of the different instruments being played and being able to hear them so clearly makes me want to listen over and over just to listen to the individual pieces.
I guess this will only stay in my memories, as a child I didn’t know then how powerful of memories those football games growing up would be later in life and I regret taking advantage of that
I wish Mississippi hadn't changed the state flag to its current ugly version. It doesn't look like a state flag at all. Personally, I liked the previous version that respected the history of the state.
Bring it back indeed we have a right to protect the south in every sport nascar ncaa don't just hate the flag just because something happened decade's ago is that what we want to teach our kids to hate the confederate flag no we love it
I'm a Dawg fan(Georgia) but this music is for ALL SOUTHERNERS! And I always shed a tear when I hear "from Dixie with love". The bravery those young Confederate Soldiers had!!!! I will ALWAYS honor you!❤
Excellent job by the OM band. Tell your kids about their heritage. Hint: maybe the federal government IS power hungry and self interested. A government called to arms against its own seems ridiculous, but here we are again.
“I have always thought `Dixie’ one of the best tunes I have ever heard. Our adversaries over the way attempted to appropriate it, but I insisted yesterday that we fairly captured it. I presented the question to the Attorney General, and he gave it as his legal opinion that it is our lawful prize. I now request the band to favor me with its performance.'” - Abraham Lincoln
Whenever I get shit for loving this song, I always pull that quote out. Most people don't know what to do with it, because they've only been taught to hate and not to understand.
This was my fight song in high school then a year after I graduated they changed the mascot from rebels to hawks and got rid of everything else such a shame smh REBEL PRIDE
I went to Richland, and the “Bonnie Blue Flag” was our fight song, but yet again they changed their mascot from a rebel to a “royal” sad what the south is becoming.
I’m black and from the south this song absolutely sucks and I can’t relate maybe because my people was in chains under this non racist flag and southern heritage
@@atlhoe564 well it's got the battle hymn of the republic which was the unions song but Georgia the state that received prolly the most brutality from union forces has made it their anthem so it was a healing song. For an older generation at least, we don't need it anymore cuz it's a new South but it was a healing song
