Ole Miss Band - University of Mississippi. Ole Miss Pride of the South later 70's - early 80's music - Alma Mater, Dixie Fanfare, Medley of the South, Dixie, Rebel March, From Dixie with Love. Rare recording of Medley of the South as arranged by Dr. Andrew Fox. This video is compiled from various recordings and the record was an original recording of the Ole Miss Rebels Band directed by Dr. Luther M. Snavely. Pieces were typical pre-game tunes played before the Star-Spangled Banner. I reserve the right to delete posts that don’t follow community guidelines per RU-vid.

Here's some history no one is taking away: Dixie receded from the union. So a great war was fought, thousands died. Win Dixie. But Dixie didn't win, the slaves are free and now they are citizens like the rest of us. I won't take that history away. OWN IT!

Some people think if you live in Dixie you're already dead, immersed in hatred because Dixie Lost the war, the slaves were freed, the south will never rise again, its a haven for backwards Neanderthal thinking and lifestyle, conspiracy theories, clinging to misconceptions and lies, it's nowhere, actually. No place to live and die.

It was a night game, in Knoxville, in November. Dr. Snavely wouldn't let us cover up with blankets or coats in the stands before halftime because it was a TV game (the reason for its being at night) and "Tennessee's band doesn't do it." We like to froze, even in wool uniforms with layers underneath. I have to admit, it's an awesome sight standing on that field, looking up...and up...and up...at how high the stadium goes, and realizing there are 100,000 orange-clad fans filling the stands.

@MichaelGunner123 The negative stigma was created to give the Union a MORAL ADVANTAGE, and Southerners fell for it by not preserving their own history! The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it!" George Orwell "Surrender means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers their version of the War; will be impressed by all the influences of history and education to our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision!" General Patrick Cleburne, CSA The role of slavery became the proclaimed cause of [Lincoln's] war because it was necessary to put the South at a moral disadvantage by transforming the contest from a war for independence into a war waged for the maintenance and extension of slavery!" Woodrow Wilson, US President LINCOLN AND THE UNION INVADED DIXIE FOR REVENUE TAX MONEY TO PRESERVE THE UNION TREASURY! The Confederate States of America (1861-1865) started with an agrarian-based economy that relied heavily on slave-worked plantations for the production of cotton for export to Europe If classed as an independent country, the area of the Confederate States would have ranked as the *FOURTH-RICHEST country of the world in 1860."* (Wikipedia: Economy of the Confederate States of America). Lincoln Presidential Proclamation No. 81, April 1861 (five days after the evacuation of Ft Sumter) "Whereas an insurrection against the Government of the United States has broken out in the States of South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, and the laws of the United States *FOR THE COLLECTION OF THE REVENUE (TAX MONEY)* can not be effectually executed therein conformably to that provision of the Constitution *WHICH REQUIRES DUTIES (REVENUE TAX MONEY) TO BE UNIFORM THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES;* ...." Lincoln's Presidential Proclamation NO. 82, April 27 1861 (after more States secede) "Whereas since that date, public property of the United States has been seized, *THE COLLECTION OF THE REVENUE OBSTRUCTED,* ......"

These songs bring a smile to the face of this California boy with a southern heart and a confederate relative who rode with Co. B. 19th. Regiment 19th Virginia Cavalry. His unit never surrendered. They just gathered up their things and rode home. They never took the oath of allegiance. I am proud of that heritage.
