Seems like there's no perfect tv. We always se the star field test but nobody I know watches this. Funny how with these tests only a few reviewers point out oled's "black crush" of shadow detail or the micro-stutter and Qled's potential downfall is dirty screen effect but again, no mention of that here. It's this that's putting me off oled at the moment, that and the fact it's organic and degrades over time. My 2016 Samsung still has an amazing picture for everyday viewing, it's just outdated on refresh rates and hdmi ports for next gen gaming....again no mention...HUH?

great point - OLED is often uncritically praised, but there are many (even potential) problems - panel lottery (color hue, bad near black homogenity or banding), wearing (people often understand badly what OLED bourn-in really is - that it's uneven wear of pixels, that is cumulative), stutter (instant response leads to stroboscopic effect if video has low frame rate), color density of lights, limits to show most of screen white / bright ... I would like to buy OLED, because QLED has it's disadvantages too, but I'm afraid of problems if I'm unlucky and will get worse panel , or that the quality of TV changes over time and can deteriorate in a few years, get burn down areas (for example, because I watch a lot of movies with black borders and subtitles ) or change the color setting ..

QLED? OLED? Who gives a 💩 Eastenders is still going to look the same no matter what system you put it through. It's just another con the manufacturers and shops use to lighten your bank account by convincing you to replace your perfectly serviceable telly with another one that is basically the same. How many mugs have gone home with the latest spec in TV's, plugged it in and thought "It's the bloody same as the old one"? RIP The Gadget Show . No hdr bright scene test where QLED would win easily though. Having a star test is an easy win for Oled tech.
@jinx20001
@jinx20001 3 года назад
that's because brightness is only an advantage in a VERY bright room, ever notice the brightness on your mobile phone goes to max when you go outside into the sun, there is a reason for that, the screen needs to get brighter to stay legible, this is far less of an issue when indoors unless you have the sun literally shining straight onto the TV. what is more important for HDR is dynamic range, the difference between black and white when they are right next to each other and the blacker the blacks are the whiter the whites appear, the best HDR is very rarely down to which display is brighter, it makes no difference how bright it goes if there is bloom and highlights are blown out. so yeh... it just does not matter about bright scene tests, most peoples viewing rooms are dim enough for OLED to still take the win comfortably, the star test was a great example of what HDR is all about.

There's plenty on this elsewhere and it seems to be significantly improving. Most problems are 6 series, then 7 but little report of issue with 8/9/cx. Now has lots of techniques to reduce this such as moving the picture very slightly every few minutes so different pixels are used. Tech giant has found minimal damage with newest version. And lcd backlight can wear out. I'd still say if going to be leaving same image on screen for a long time I'd pick qled. For normal varied use either though I love the blacks on oled.

@@Minky92 it depends if you upgrade your TV a lot. Most people say it’s not an issue are talking from two years of experience. Our TV’s last ten years pretty much and we only replaced this year because it stopped working. QLED - Q90T was the obvious option over the CX because there will be burn in and you constantly have it in the back of your mind. I game on an LCD TV and even that’s got burn in from game UI’s. And that’s not even a common thing to happen on those panels, so if you use your tv forcthe long haul then yes it will be an issue.

I favor OLED as i cant stand blooming. The way LED lacks the contrast it needs to make it pop giving you a washed out picture. All the brightness isnt great if the contrast is meh and blooming on top of it makes it not look that great of a picture. Brighter isnt better you have all that peak brightness and blooming = no go. It starts with contrast which is why oleds can get away with infinite contrast and lower peak brightness and people rave over oleds which im seeing alot of people getting them for next gen gaming (ps5 series X) ..Theres a reason for it. OLED is where its at for now

I have both. A c1 and a Q90t. Tv on my profile is the c1. Unless you run an actual blooming test. You'll be hard pressed to find any blooming in regular content. For gaming, I've done side by side tests with hdr games and regular SD switch games. Wanna know which tv gives me the most jaw dropping moments? The q90t. Hands down. The c1 ain't bad and certainly has its jaw dropping moments. But not as much as the powerful hdr brightness image as the qled. Believe me. I've spent 4000$ on these tvs. Compared em both side by side obsessively. Bought an OLED just to see what the fuss was about. Don't regret it at all as I love my OLED. But I feel that for gaming, I enjoy playing on my qled far more than the oled
@DETERMINOLOGY
@DETERMINOLOGY 2 года назад
@@sweedishpie360 I can’t stand blooming tho. Brighter doesn’t mean better actually it makes it worse. Yea I mean the picture is brighter but there blooming as led requires a black light no led can stop that so it’s there and if you sit a qled next to a oled it will show it’s ugly head. Again the qled will look brighter but it’s a bright flat image it Lacks contrast

@@DETERMINOLOGY don't school me on these two tvs dude. I have both flagships models remember. Side by side man you see the difference. And brightness really makes a difference. This is really a case where you have to have both and side by side. You can stick to RU-vid videos blindly saying OLEDs are better. But they just aren't. Not saying qleds are perfect either. Both tvs have their strengths and weaknesses. That's why I love using both. But tend to be more impressed with gaming on the qled

I have a c1 now and used to own a samsung 2020 frame qled tv. Bias lighting completely eliminates blooming on the flagship qled tvs. It's a fact as i used it on my old qled. The bias lighting has to be a 6500k white though which is kind of blue. So with bias lighting you actually get a much higher contrast with qled compared to an oled because the blacks on a qn90b with bias lighting is almost as good as oleds if not the same so one part of the screen is almost jet black while the other part is like 1500 nits. I heard their 8k tvs hit over 2000 nits so they would be even more impressive. So definitely more contrast and the tv reviewers are frauds as they never test the qled vs oled while using bias lighting because they know that if they do that the qled will have a much higher perceived contrast ratio.

To my mind, you missed out on an important test. For the next decade or so broadcast TV is going to be stuck on HD (or even worse SD for the smaller channels), so it would have been really helpful to know if one of the sets was noticeably better at upscaling these signals to fit its 4K screen.

hahaha this is so funny...lets test the irrelevant features! This show is seams to going downhill like most of the shows now days.... Weight? Slim? Test them in the basement in a pitch dark room....OMG. Most of the people want their TV on the wall close and tidy as possible, if you will put the LG on the wall and all the cable will be hanging down it wont be very nice, also good luck to plug anything into the USB....SAMSUNG is way more user friendly and forward thinking. No surprise that back it the days only Samsung was offering down or side facing connectors and LG and the rest were not able to do that for years.... Anyway the LG is like a mirror no matter if its turned on or off. The Samsung has the anti-reflection layer and its does a good job especially near a window or patio door. But on this video you can clearly see that the camera angle and the Samsung position was in front of light source. Its is a very misleading and and wrong comparison...if you thinking buying any of these, there are way better review on RU-vid, check them out and make a decision afterwards...I'm not saying one is better than the other but both TVs have their advantages and disadvantages. LG better for movie watching in a dedicated movie room it means dark room and for Gaming. SAMUNG is more user friendly and better with upscaling and living room with bright lighting. The black levels on the Samsung never going to be as good as on the LG but with this QN95A is very very close and for most of the users will be way more than enough without and risk of burn in displays...

The oled fails to show black tone. You do realise that in real life there are different tones to black. Not all blacks are the same so therefore those inky blacks cause the loss of detailing in dark scenes. Not every black is a deep dark black in real life. The oled fails in scenes where you need to see detail in dark scenes. E.g gaming where an enemy is hiding in the dark you will fail to see the enemy hiding due to the inky blacks causing loss of detail. The facts are some blacks are lighter than others in real world viewing. Qled is superior and especially in this regard
