4:42 The only issue I have with these sorts of designs (Glow version) is that I immediately remove them from my "consideration" list when looking for EDC items. The deal-breaker for me is portable electronics that require a proprietary charger or require a charging cradle instead of using the global standard USB-C. This way, I only need to carry one kind of charging cable instead of many. My current SHTF bag has a mini solar charger/power-bank, VHF/UHF radio, electronic lighter and GPS locator that all use USB-C. It looks like the "Pro" model has it, so I'd rather go with that. I realize that not everyone is planning to use this light for those purposes, but it would be nice carry this as a primary light source.
@@mattrhoton9219That's not a bad idea. At the same time it's not that hard to just throw the base in your bag if you're going to be leaving for an extended period of time. They should work wireless charging into these so that we can just set it down on our charge pads since we all have phones or tablets these days that wireless charge. I don't know the pen is more ergonomic and nicer than the previous versions but I'm not quite sure where you would fit a USB C port on the glow
@@patc2515that’s not the point. It’s not the inconvenience. It’s the fact that it’s not buyer friendly. Its done with a custom base to charge not bc of design, it’s to increase company profits
I just ordered two of these, one for myself, and another for my nephew currently deployed in the Navy. I also sent him an Arkfeld Pro, and and Oclip for working under red light. I have an idea for a feature to be added to subsequent model updates. A magnetic stylus tip would be very handy for people who work with tablets. Without obstructing the pen, and laser features, it could clip onto the pen bolt when not in use. Just a thought from a fan, and non engineer.

A step backwards in convenience and usability. What a very sad and interesting design choice. Now you need a special proprietary charger base....instead of just using the globally available ubiquitous usb-c.
Recently got my Glow and I really like it but I do hope in the next version they fix a couple things. I do like the fact that you can lock it out because I was somehow accidentally turning the light on all the time with it clipped into my pocket. Being able to properly lock it out without having to change it from toggle to hold would be nice. I don't love the fact that I have to turn it to hold for the light just to be able to lock it out. Tapping at five times or something to lock it out would be great. Another thing I don't like is that if you have it set to hold for the light so that it doesn't accidentally turn on in your pocket makes it to where you cannot turn The light on for the pen. So if you have it set to hold for lockout purposes and then you deploy your pen and you wish to turn on the pen light for writing in the dark, it won't work and you'll have to hold the cap to turn it back on toggle. I find that annoying. I still like the pen but that's really annoying. As others have said, not having any USB-C built into the pen itself is also a swing and a miss. I'm fine with bringing the base if I'm going to travel but it really would be nice if somewhere on the pen there was a USB-C port hidden so that I could charge it even if the base wasn't around. Other than that, this is a great pen. It writes well, it's ergonomic, looks good, clip is nice and tight, the light on the clip is quite impressive. The only thing that would make me even happier with this would be if they added red LED. I do a lot of work at night and I use red LED far more often than I ever thought I would. All in all a great pen. If anyone's on the fence, wait for it to go on sale and then grab it. Even at full price you probably won't be disappointed. Even with my whining and crying above, I'm still very happy with it and don't regret buying it.
I just purchased the Glow. Had it for a week now and have a few criticisms. Regarding the button for the light. It should be tilted down in the opposite direction. Regarding the mechanism used to extend the pen. Instead of pushing down the lever before pulling in, it should be pushing down the lever before pushing away. Regarding the light itself. I think it should have a bit of a hood over the light. This would block the light from blinding someone using it while it's in their front shirt pocket. The ink is much better than I expected. It writes really nice. And, the light is much brighter than expected. I use it regularly and have yet to have an issue with battery life or speed to a full charge.
The lock out mode, the exciting new feature that the original oPen had 😅 I'm only considering one to add a color I don't already have but I don't like the charging or the need for yet another refill.
I like the milling (excellent), I like the tapering (cool), I like the light at the tip (nice), and I enjoyed my O’Pen Pro since I’ve had it. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the O’Pen Glow as well. One single problem I have with the Glow is the lack of black ink cartridges for refills. The one in the chamber is super awesome, but no refills in black is disheartening. 😢 I hope that matter gets resolved before my only black cartridge is used up.
Just got my O'Pen Glow stars and stripes edition today. Loving the design! However, you need to remove the tiny bit of plastic at the tip of the exposed pen BEFORE trying to charge it. Had me thinking I had a dud for a full 20 minutes after trying multiple cords and USB ports,,,,,
I am very curious that since we live it such a technological age and most things are done with a phone or laptop which have touch capabilities have you considered having the nose bezelle of the pen made out of a hardened rubber that when the tip of the pen is retracted you can use the pen itself as a stylus which you can use to navigate you electronic touch devices. I think this will make your product a much more widely powerful tool. Not to mention you can give me some proceedes from this fabulous addition to your Olight Glow!
I have both and absolutely love them! Was lucky enough to get a Stars and Stripes edition. They are very well made! Looking forward to future products!
Wow. Eleven minute video and no mention on how, you know, bring out the BALLPOINT…the part you write with. Sure, you brought it out once, but no clear indication as to how.
I just got mine. And the charger turns all.green for about 30sec-1min when plugged in and then turns off, and when I insert the pen it doesn't turn red like it's charging. It has no colour. Like it's doing nothing?
I just got mine in the mail yesterday. I purchased 2 extra refills, but I had to pay $9.99 for each one? Why didn't I get at least one of the refill packs for $3?

That's their sales model. They actually have several models already ready to go, but they introduce them one model at a time. They slowly milk your money out of you. They should call the company Elsie (the Borden cow). Milk them babies!!!
I hear you, but after investing countless thousands into my collection, that is topping at least 75 total O'light products by now (I would have to lay them all out and do a full count), you need to just understand that it's always evolving and changing. After I receive this pen in the mail, I will have ALL versions of the O' Pen, all the way back to the OG one. They're all cool in their own way, and I will be proud to have all of them. The fact is, they just improve as time goes on... with customer feedback and ongoing R&D, they're going to continue to evolve their products. And this is a very unique pen, that no other company makes anything like. This is definitely the best version yet. You don't have to buy the most expensive material, just get the new version in standard black or blue, so at least you have it. It's $55 bucks lol. And a free Gober! No I don't work for O'light lol, I just love their products, and have been shopping with them for the last 5 years. Never been disappointed.
Too bad they advertised the cool red white and blue pen for their sale but conveniently had none available when the sale started. I was told premium members got first crack at the sale. I cry foul and I'm rethinking if I should spend my money with this company. Don't advertise something and then not have enough of the product to sell. I don't deny they make great products but I think they need to rethink this premium member thing.
How the F do you remove the ink cartridge? It only moves the bolt. Also the manual doesn't how how to use the laser that is why I had to watch this video.
I WILL CANCEL my order in the morning i dont need and extra base and cable to worry about. I have the original open i skip 2 and now will skip the glow charging the pen directly was the best ever. 😡😡
Pity the quality is not there, and when sent back for warrantee was returned no fault with failed battery (O-pen) I have since replaced only the battery and all good, Not happy with lack of service support at all.
No, it is a proprietary cartridge with dimensions that are unlike any other refill currently available. And since that cartridge is part of the light circuitry, their cartridge must be used.
Work as an airline mechanic, all our paperwork has to be black ink and black ink only. Never actually come across a requirement for blue in, might be due to country?
Honestly I feel like the green laser should have come out of the pen end too, I'm uncomfotable with the thought that someone could unknowingly pick up the pen and somehow turn on the laser whilst its pointed at their face and suffer an injury accidentally.

I like the pro better. The original UI was better. I like the charger but hate that we now HAVE to buy your dumb ink cartridges. I don’t want a subscription based ink. Just run a thin wire inside for the charging and stop with the proprietary ink. I guess the ink is the price we pay for a pen with these features.
I am sorry the charging base is nice as an option but not as the only way to charge an item. I love your items but the only being able to charge your items woth an extra magnetic charger has made me stop buying your products. It a real world situation they just make zero sence.
