OLIGHT OTACLE FAIL!!! not an end-of-the-world fail... but a fail nonetheless

in todays video i tried swapping parts from the nextool mini sailor over to the olight otacle p1...
it didnt go well.
the screws on the otacle rounded off my lenox micro bit... then my tsc micro bit rounded off the otacle screws.
yes, theres ways to get the screws out... but i'm not gonna mess with this for a while.

To my knowledge the only difference between the plier based Nextool mini sailor and the otacle p1 is the handle scale. I’ve heard that the detent of the implements are stronger but nobody has confirmed it.

You could have just bought the nextool mini sailor pliers version it’s the same as the Olight! Great video man I love it!

True. But my budget is tight. & i saw no need to get the naxtool pliers because i like the olight scales. However, i might buy the nextool pliers in the future & try again. If only they came with the file the scissors have

4:00 - Idk man, just about every multi tool I have has 3-4 tools I actually want and 3-4 "alternative prybars" in my head :D Tbf I miss the Squirt too, but I understand why they discontinued it. It just failed so much that they were losing more money from its warranty than they were making from its sales.

The mini sailor I saw on Amazon doesn’t have the file, it has same type bottle opener

No offense but it could be the operator. I am aware of this happening and often so, however there’s just too much rounding going on.

Too bad it didn’t work out as It would be nice to see if the swap would be straight as forward as it seems. I have a regular size multi bit Lennox screw driver and the tips on those hold up great so was surprise to see the 4mm didn’t. Menards Masterforce multi tip screwdrivers seem to have great bits also but retention is an issue. I don’t know if they offer a Masterforce 4mm kit to try out. I have not seen an upload on RU-vid from Jamie for a long while now. He said he needed some time and wouldn’t be posting for a couple weeks or so but it’s been a fair bit longer than a couple weeks. If you talk to him let him know we’re thinking of him and hope all is well.

When i heard from him a few weeks ago, he said he went in for surgery. Came out, & a week later went in for another surgery... so i assume he went in for another surgery

Is the Nextool mini-sailor file any good? I have the Nextool Light Wrench W1 and W2 and those files suck.

Maybe you should try unscrewing it from the other side of the screw, maybe you twisted the part where it is screwed in and the screw itself is on the other side.

I mean for $20 and 13% chromium.. why not? definitely as a second or third MT. its for the lightest work and opening boxes.. not doing construction.

@@jspr_edc hmmm weird i was able to pop it out quite easy with heat and a knafs bit driver and wiha micro bits my guess is your 1/4 inch bits are too much torqe for these little micro screws i suggest trying going 1 size up in bit size in a microbit size bit instead of the bigger bit size and when you try the bigger size put the handle on a hard flat surface and push in hard with the bit driver while turning the bit slowly i actually just took out that annoying lanyard hole thing like wdh you put a poky on a lanyard hole for? now im looking for something to swap the scissors with but best of luck hope you figure something out and are able to find some other screw to replace and fix it! might have to grab a second one for a donor parts and screws at least they arnt too expencive
