Olight listened to the market and definitely filled a need with their innovation, esp. in the ultracompact sized pistols which might have only one pic rail tooth and/or off the norm trigger guard designs and dimensions.
I have 2 Mini Valkyries, they're my favorite. Great light output, and won't blind me if I have to do a house check in the middle of the night. I also have a holster made for my G30 to carry the mini val IWB. Works great.
KS has put in lots of work & RE: U tube , it helps to get activity , like comments , thumbs up or down .. even if you just say >> thanks . So .. ya ! HA ! ! ! @@techs5384
Thanks for the review KS, I got one of the PL Mini 2’s a couple months ago and have been plenty happy with it. Plenty of lumens, small, easy to mount and adjust, easy charging capability and it was not crazy expensive. I didn’t feel the need to spend $100+ on a light and this fit the bill well. Thanks as always man!
I own 11 different Olights one of every WML they make, 2 PL-Mini first gen Valkyries and a bunch of EDC lights they are high quality, and for the price well below SureFire and StreamLight. I’m not saying they are as durable only time will tell but if build quality is any indication Olight will cement their place as a top tier light company as well. The PL-Mini Valkyrie 2 is the perfect light for someone who may only want to purchase a single WML for a variety of different guns. It works on subcompact to full size and puts out 600 lumens in a small package all with a rechargeable magnetic usb cord. I own SureFire and StreamLight WML’s and consider them the (Glock) of lights for reliability with years of consistent and reliable use in all scenarios but Olight is building a great reputation on their own and I think 5-10 years from now they will be looked at in the same light (pun intended) 😁. Best lights for the money you will find especially if you catch their flash sales I have only paid full price for one Olight most were 30%-45% off! By the way my favorite WML for my carry gun G19 Gen 5 MOS is StreamLight TLR-7 but my CZ P10C runs a Olight PL-Mini Valkyrie, G21 a Olight PL-2, Sub2K Olight PL-2RL BALDR, and my AR has a Olight Warrior X with the magnetic pressure switch. PL-Mini Valkyrie 2 doesn’t have a permanent home yet but I’m sure I will find use for it. Great video as always KS 👍🏻
Wow! That’s a great collection Adam! I like that you’ve done some serious homework on these lights. I agree that ultimately time will tell on durability but they’ve held up well over the last year or so I’ve been using them. Thank you for sharing and cheers brother!
I have an Olight PL-Mini that fits great on my P-07, P229, etc. It's a great, compact and very lightweight WML. I also love how quickly and easily it pops on and off, while still being very secure when it's mounted. When it eventually wears out, I'll be upgrading to a PL Mini-2, for sure.
I have the PL-Mini and absolutely love the design and quality of the light. I also love that I can just keep the battery topped off using the quick-connect charger. Now it looks like I’ll have to get myself a Mini-2!
I bought this exact light last month and it works very well. Fits the SW 2.0 compact and CZ P-07. Cleveland Kydex made me a holster for it that fits with the light on and even for left handed shooters like me. I highly recommend the O-light and Cleveland Kydex
You do not have to push anything to take the light off .... After you flip the lever all you have to do is grab the light and pull one side of the light down .. kind of like a twisting motion ... The spring will allow to light to be pulled off in this way and is made for that.. I have one and love it .. I can just pull the light off the mount if I want a little light with out pointing my gun everywhere and then just slip it back on the mount that can stay on the gun .. it's a great design and a welcome innovation to the light world !!
We must be twins, I have all the same lights and pistols. :P I finally got my X-compact today after work, and I can't wait to get it out. I think the PL Mini-2 is perfect, love the adjustability of it! Another great review brother, have a great week!
I bought the "nForce" yes spelled right but crappy tape switch, and not the real InForce either. I got on one of their one day sales, the website was jammed and saw they are a 15 mile drive in Atlanta. I bought two mini Valkrie and a flashlight and was given a keychain and silicone towel because i drove there. The last one day sale i bought the Warrior X with mount and tape switch for my LWRC M6. I also bought the PL2 and have it on my Remington tac13. I bought 5 small flashlights for Christmas stockings. I love the features and boxes. Glad you are recommending them. I think they are Taiwanese, they do not look Chinese.
Thanks to the HD quality of your video I see that the GL (Glock) rail mount adapter is on both the PL-mini and the mini 2. Both of these w/ GL adapter fit ok and work on my M&P 2.0C and my P320 SC. I put the 1913 rail mount adapter on the mini 2 and it now fits my P320 SC perfectly! The mini 2 seems to be more specifically for subcompacts but it's versatility allows it to fit almost any gun with a rail, aesthetics aside? I also have all 3 of these lights and can move them around to different guns but holsters are another matter! 😁 FDE light on a black pistol and vice versa is visually disconcerting and kinda like wearing mismatched socks with high water pants! 😂
Glad you said something about the adapters. I'll be honest, I've never messed with them. The lights seem to work with any gun without swapping them thankfully. I agree that moving these around to various guns is a breeze. As for the colors, it makes it easy to highlight on video, but I do agree with you. Thank you and cheers!
Great video as usual. I like the Olights but haven't bought any yet. I have really been enjoying the Inforce APLC just for how it fits on my guns. Not terribly bright but seems perfect for inside use. Thanks for the review!
Thank you for the detailed overview. I already own several of the Valkyrie PL mini lights. I've been dying to get my hands on one of these for my HK P30sk and my upcoming Sig 320 XCompact.
I'm kind of on the fence with Olight. I'm glad that they're innovating and I hope that it pushes the Big Boys in the lighting industry to step up their game. I want every major manufacturer to create rechargeable lights in the footprint of their CR123A lights. I wish that they would spend less money on Marketing Blitz and focus on putting their products into the hands of as many holster manufacturers as possible. The biggest issue hardware issue for me - besides the lack of holsters - is the QD latch. My PL-Mini latch wiggles a lot and the fact that the design sticks out so much makes it annoying for holster manufacturers. I like it just fine for a bedside option; I just think that there's a lot of room for improvement. I'd rather just have a screw, honestly. Look at what Holosun did with the HS507C. They targeted the primary competitor and made a cheaper option in the same footprint. Light companies should do the same. I don't mind magnetic chargers, but I do wish we'd see some standardization (Olight, Klarus, or various others opening their standard for the benefit of the industry in general). It's just one more proprietary connector to worry about (which is why I think I might prefer a sealed USB-C port on products, going forward).
Excellent analysis! I do agree that more holster manufacturers should get on board with Olight. I haven't found the latch to be an issue in terms of wiggle. Standardization in charging would be fantastic for sure. Thank you and cheers!
I have 6 O Lights 3 PL Valkerie's(One FDE) 2 Pl mini's and a PL-2RL BALDR. The BALDR has a Laser/Laser & Light/ 400-1200 lumen setting. Bought all on FLASH SALES so saved a bunch of money and very happy with their products.
I think Olight makes great products. I have a couple S1R Baton's and a Mini Valkyrie. They all work well. That Mini 2 is pretty slick with the ratchet adjustment. May be my next choice if I buy another weapon light, but I really like the slim profile of the Mini Valkyrie.
I got 1 on my G45....Love it, Plenty bright enough esp for home defense cuz some lights can be to bright for home defense. Easy on easy off charging doesnt get any easier....I can't imagine a better light....
Many companies fail to add strobe. Strobe program feature is easy. A $20 Amazon light has strobe; but Olight has only two or three of the $100+, out of some-40 lights, has a strobe feature?... They could make a click combination on all lights, to enable or disable such feature.
Olight makes great products. I got a Valkyrie Mini for my 2.0 Compact and a Valkyrie Mini 2 currently on Vp9sk. But looking at the X-Compact, I have a strong feeling the Mini 2 for be on a X-Compact in my future. I wonder if Harry's will have holsters for these olights 🤔
I bet the Mini 2 is awesome with the VP9sk! The X-Compact review comes out this weekend... hopefully it will help but it Paris really well with the Olight. We just need to keep pestering Harry on the holster upgrades, lol. Thank you and cheers!
Say you’re out camping, it’s night, you’ve been using the light to see around, keeping it in your pocket. Before crawling into your bag for the night, you decide to slap it on your pistol. Would it be easier to slide the whole unit on, or leave the mount on the pistol and then attach the light body? The light without mount might feel better in the pocket?
I have on for my Beretta PX4 Compact Carry, and it’s perfect. It works on my M&P 9C, and neither of these pistols will take any other high output light. I was using a Streamlight TLR-3, but that’s a clunky low powered light. P.S. The Mini 2 lasts FOREVER. Some rechargeable devices run down with the power off, but not the Olights.
That’s awesome Frank! I was in the same boat and now have a good option for those smaller guns. Good to hear about the lifespan of the Mini. Thank you and cheers!
Great video! I've been curious about the Olight. I am a believer in weapon mounted lights since I was charged by a wild boar and was able to defend myself because I had just bought a light. I would have liked a view of how bright the light is in a dark area. Thank you!
I just got one off of ebay for $70 and I will say it is very bright. For a pistol I'm sure it will throw far enough for the situation that statistically happens the most.
love my pl mini, I will wait for the mini 2 ratchet system on the qd to be proven as i have concerns of it either breaking off/coming off by itself due to qd not being integral
Hey! Curious if you've tried it on the P365, I'm worried the switches would be too low to reach due to the picatinny rail mount attachment adding distance from light to frame
Get the recover tactical rail if you don’t get an aftermarket rail you can’t put anything but the shit sig 100 lumens lights or the shitty sure fire 100 lumens light as well. Recover tactical rail + olight Pl mini 2= profit you get the light and rail for half the price of that sig light or sure fire one and it has 500 more lumens
I really like Olight and I have a couple of the mini II’s but my hope is having a battery option down the road for those models. I’m just not sure I trust the run time and not a fan of having to wait on it to charge. I had one of mine mounted after a full charge for a few weeks and went to use it and only got about 10 minutes out of it. Again I think they make great products, have great customer service and are innovative but I just don’t think I trust the rechargeable set up.
Hi, thanks for video! A couple questions come to mind... is it thicker than the slide on a Glock 9mm?, and what holsters can be used with it!? Also, what battery does it take? Thanks dude!
@KSGunGuy great video! Looking at getting a gun light and can't decide if I want flush fit or light extending out, what would you recommend? Thank you for great videos
I have two olights I got on sale and they're worth what I paid on sale. I would not buy them at regular prices at all, there is a marked difference in quality between olight and other brands like streamlight and surefire. Olight is just ok and not a great value if you are buying outside of sales
KSGunGuy... I live locally in the Kc metro area. Newer sub but been watching for awhile now. Quick question. Interested in the apex trigger system, any recommendations on a local gunsmith?
Thank you very much Allen! If it’s the Smith or Glock trigger system, go see Nolan at Centerfire Shooting Sports. He is a magician with triggers. If it’s the 509, you might try Stu at Frontier Justice in Lees Summit. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Hey KS what would you suggest for a carry that is super easy to carry in a t shirt on a day to day that is either da or da/sa. I work where I cant really have a gun so I need to be able to carry something small. I'm thinking revolver but wanted to know if you have any other ideas?
It’s tougher to find DA/SA in a smaller form factor. The Taurus TP9C comes to mind. If you can get away with it though, I’d consider a CZ P07 or Beretta PX4 Storm. The top recommendation though would be the HK P30sk. Great gun in a smallish form factor. I bet others will have some great suggestions as well. Hope that helps and keep me posted! Thank you and cheers!
@Nick Aren't Your best bet isn't going to be a DA or DA/SA firearm. Though many people would not consider .380 A.C.P. they will get the job done with modern ammo. A very easy pistol to carry is a Ruger LCP 2. IWB with a suede soft side holster and good belt clip works well. It is an Internal hammer fired single action trigger and as long as the trigger guard is covered you can carry one all day with one in the chamber. Yes, caution is key when re-holstering as with any single action pistol. Next choice is the P 365 9mm IWB. I don't like safeties but new this year is a safety model. I use a Vedder's Light Tuc IWB holster and have carried both all day. Good Luck in your quest to find the right firearm for you. I have a small frame and everybody is a bit different in how big or small a pistol they can carry..
Thanks for recommendations. I have been carrying a p320 compact for 4 years now but with a new job I have to think a bit different now. We have to wear business causal so basically a dress t shirt and slacks so trying to find something a bit more concealable.
Well, I was about to get it during their big promotion for 40% off. But, it was their own flawed demo showing the competition to be superior, which totally turned-me-off to Olight.
Near the end (link below) where he shows light out-put for (what he calls a long time) only one minute, it drops in brightness way too fast. And, he tells people to just ignore it. This is Olight's standard guy? Get rid of him! He does a better job selling competitors. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eAP3oUnHfwk.html
also just found out that Tim at MAC doesn't like it either. As he reportedly Tweeted. Whatever works for you is great. But, it just doesn't last long enough.
Looks like garbage when the light isn't flush with the barrel. Which for you glock guys wouldn't be a problem. After all good looking pistols aren't priority for you guys
