God this is so cool. Thanks Kyu-Bum Lee. I've been a huge fan of your work for a while now, ever since those boards of cute space animals first crossed my screen. I just want you to know that the stuff you do is great, and I'll be around for whatever you come up with next. Thanks!
Well done. These sorts of assets are going to become more and more viable as time goes on. Both info AND entertainment will become the domain of ourselves. It will be Peer-to-Peer content over studios. Independent creators will be looking for ways to simplify the toon making process so it can be done by one person.
Thank you so much! I've just picked up ToonBoom and wanted to know how those 3D rigs feel like. Looking forward to learning from the best. If I ever make something worth it one day, I'll have you to thank for it. :)
I just downloaded Harmony and this rig to learn how to use the software and before I even start this video I just wanna say this is the most adorable design ever and I love it.
Thank you for making this rig available!! And thanks for this walkthrough! I first learned about this watching your interview on Toon Boom Animation channel.
I don't know a thing about animation and rigs and I'll certainly never use this tutorial, but I'll be damned if this isn't the most interesting process I've ever watched.
Love this! That is so generous of you, Kyu-bum Lee! Thanks!!!! Animation Tutorial: I'd love to see an animation tutorial - but not to add to your workload- so if any of you users would care to show your rig in action, I am sure this community would love to see it!
I would love for you to make a rig series of this or another character with all the features that you implemented ... it would be incredible greetings, from ECU
Really kool design . I would love to see a stream of you actually animating with rig the switching animating between the different character views. 1. Walk through, (Yes) 2. ?????? (Animating with the rig) ?????? (No? Why not?) 3. End Result (Yes) Thanks so much for sharing.
I'll be honest, I've never bothered to make a 2D rig that was this complicated, which is why I prefer to animate the old-fashioned way (unless I'm doing 3D animation). However, I won't knock anyone for using this method, seeing as the results can be very impressive if the animator knows what they're doing. After all, the newer Mickey Mouse cartoons are very well animated!
You know what? In hindsight, Family Guy would look a lot better if they used this method to animate their episodes. Sure, setting up the rig is the hardest part, but once you’re done with that, you should be all set.
Hi Kyu-bum Lee, Lovely rig. I studied the whole thing in the node view and I realized you have invert cut the Color Art of quite a number of layers by their own same Color Art. Is there a technical secret reason for it that you chose to do so instead of plugging the Color Art directly into the composite? Thanks again. The whole rig is a delight.
I don't know if the fixed it in the later versions of Harmony but all that stuff is to prevent sliver of color showing through when you use cutters. it only shows up in the Rendered view and the tv-production I was in used that particular way to solve it. It would be much simpler if the software works as intended.
Kyu please answer me if you can. Can you make a tutorial covering how to make a turnaround from scratch? The master peg can’t have different locations for different angles and drives me insane
the rig I got off of Gumroad didn't seem to have a mouth chart like yours. Where do I find the mouth shapes cause I can't seem to figure out how to make the mouth move
How are you, friend? I have a question. I'm starting to study Toon Boom and I want to start an animation channel (simple animation). I would like to know if I can create a character for my channel from the pieces that you have made available ... I am from Brazil and I would like to use modeling to create a character with another hair and clothes but with the same face and body. I'm sorry for my English because I speak very little. I can credit you with all the video descriptions. Grateful for the attention
Pretty neat. Do kind of wish it was in something like OpenToonz instead of ToonBoom. ToonBoom's formats are extremely closed down and don't import anywhere else :-| Anyway, thanks for putting this out there!
hi.. i'm totally new to toon boom but want to learn it.. i used this awesome rig but stuck while animating. can you tell how to animate this rig in an action where the character is moving or change the position. I tried but i guess i'm doing something wrong while making poses with this rig. while translating character's upper body in pose where its feet are on floor, whole character is getting mess regarding pivots. plz help me to get out of this...
