We take Oliver and Classy to the farrier! Oliver is our 3 year old Rescue Clydesdale stallion and Classy is our 4 year old Missouri Foxtrotter mare. Our farrier/blacksmiths name is Reuben and we absolutelyloge him! He is very talented at what he does and outs a lot of tome and care in to each horse.

Watching a farrier is fascinating to me & I’m always amazed by how they can stay bent over for so long, how great they are at accurately forming the shoe on the anvil, & that the hot fitting doesn’t t hurt the horse. Classy always looks like she enjoys being ridden. Tail up, ears forward, & lots of energy. Oliver’s such a good boy! 💖💖

they get super love from these folks...my dad was a gentle man with our work horse but I did see him get angry ,,and jr does not.. Jr is so knowledgeable and a patient gentleman..

I love how, when JR was leading Oliver to the trailer after being shoed, Oliver almost looked like he caught himself thinking "oh right, a girl, better act studdy! ~Hello beautiful~"... and then imideatly went back to munching on grass. What a chill dude! No wonder he's such a good boy ❤

Oliver….what a Champ, standing there having his lower Lip dangling almost sleeping😂😂❤ Regular Warmbloods have a size 3 to 4 Hoof-shoe…so that’s enormous…. Wow Classy is such a beautiful Horse and her gaits are awesome…Reuben works like a typical German Ferrier 👍👍👍

I'm amazed to see how experienced Rueben the farrier is and how detailed the work is he does to clean up and fit the correct size shoes. I had never had the experience of watching the process before. Very impressive! The horses probably really appreciate how their feet feel after the process. 😊

If I remember correctly, they couldn't find a farrier closer to them that would work on large hoofs like Oliver's. They ended up finding Reuben who turned out to be phenomenal.

Sorry JD I hate those heel caulks on Oliver, just not needed and will mess up his hoof angles and increase the concussion up his legs. Clydesdales are already prone to arthritis in the hocks so you wanna preserve and protect those legs. In Scotland we've really tried to move away from heels, the foot needs to slip and slide a little and the caulks crush the heel tubules due to uneven forces. The heels wont grow and you end up needing higher caulks as there is no heel, compounding the problem!
