I'm English working class. We are not known for showing emotion. Tears flooded down my face when I heard this - because it's true. My people and my country are being destroyed.
Indeed the sad thing is that the main opposition are the same on high cost energy, mass migration, removing cash and cars from all but the rich - leaving nowhere to turn.
I'm Italian, I'm 60, it's the first time I've cried since my mom died 30 years ago. This song is the new anthem of the western world because globalization has enslaved all workers like the Chinese were. Lord keep this boy as a symbol of asking for change
Don't know if this is what he meant when he sang about the "young men putting themselves six feet in the ground," but i come from a proud Military family and my beloved niece deals with PTSD from her two tours in Afghanistan. There is an epidemic of our military taking their lives at a rate of 22 a day. My Annie has struggled greatly with how we gave up the country. She lost Brothers and Sisters in Arms there, friends. The Afghans who helped them were left alone to face the Taliban. They were forced to leave their courageous Military Dogs in kennels in the hangers (some who actually had prices on their heads) to be tortured and slaughtered. The rich men north of Richmond are doing nothing but kicking Veterans down when they should be raising them up. i pray for a day when there are no more homeless Vets or Vets on food stamps and when they receive the help and the praise that they deserve. 🙏🇺🇲 🩵☘️🥀
@@citizenbobx They do it because they still believe in what the Flag stands for. They may not agree with some of the things being said, but they will fight to protect those people's Right to say it. They fight for those of us still standing beside them. Blessings.🙏🇺🇲
That was my thought too, but on listening to it many times, and how it is joined with the 5-3 obese person (a woman is more probably that hieght) I think he is talking about all young men, including civilians, because so many men have no role in society due to government paying so much welfare to women, women dont need, nor want a male presence in their household. young men are dying by thier own hand and by thier self destructive due to having no role in this new social order, where government is a womans husband and provider.
I think all of you are correct. This song speaks to so many people on so many different levels that are hurting right now. Oliver rightly points out that most of the issues faced by the common people are caused by elites who sit in positions of power over us and enrich themselves by controlling us and keeping us down. He does it so eloquently.
As a 67 year old Navy veteran, I have felt this way about my country for around 40 years. FINALLY, a voice has appeared which captures the pent up rage far too many of WE THE PEOPLE have felt for far too long... as you say, a boiling point is fast approaching.
shynickel’s a leftist hoping you won’t notice. He knows what’s coming for him and his consortium and wants to gaslight his way out of due punishment. It won’t work
I’ve never watched so many reactions in my life but this awesome young man has me floored with this super powerful songs. Speechless over this. Love you guys.
Same, I’ve watched so many, black, white, Asian, young, old, all of it and everyone has the same reactions. I still get choked up. This is a powerful song!
I am from Italy. I understood not just every single word that Oliver sings, it touched me deep down. His message is universal. Although singing about his generation, I am 65, I found my eyes watering. God bless you Chris "Oliver", y Hasta la victoria siempre (even psalm 37 says so...)
I'm in Ireland and in the EU we have EXACTLY the same. It's time to unite worldwide and end the elite bs that we are all subjected too 😢I truly belive that United we are stronger. This song is a global anthem with the same reaction from each person x
@aoifeboland8100 that is what I have been saying since I first heard the song. It is a global anthem. There are elites everywhere trying to implement a new world order that will starve most of the people to death. I am 60 and the song shook my soul.
I'm from Germany and I'm listening to this song multiple times every day for nearly two weeks now (mostly reactions). This song bears a powerful message that is heard around the world. Love the Catturd mug btw
You can turn on the words on youtube. The first time I listened to this I found myself in tears. Thinking about what has happened to our country. Not that I didn't already know but the pain in his voicing of these lyrics brought the reality to the surface.
Im sitting in my driveway right now, drinking a 6 pack after work in tears, listening to you fully understand the song. I love my country, I love America, but I hate what we have become, and more importantly, I hate what we have allowed to happen. We need to take America back. The world needs to take the world back. Ive never watched you channel before but you just earned my subscription.
I'm about to be 58 years old and the last time a tear came to my eye was when my boy was born. This song touched my soul and it will touch many others as well. This man is singing from the heart. I've never felt so emotional over music before but it speaks to me. This is the new American anthem.
This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. This is on the level of U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday. Just as powerful. This song song could start a revolution! I absolutely love it, I'm obsessed with this song!
Latest statement by Oliver(Chris) Anthony---It's been difficult as I browse through the 50,000+ messages and emails I've received in the last week. The stories that have been shared paint a brutally honest picture. Suicide, addiction, unemployment, anxiety and depression, hopelessness and the list goes on. Im sitting in such a weird place in my life right now. I never wanted to be a full time musician, much less sit at the top of the iTunes charts. Draven from RadioWv and I filmed these tunes on my land with the hope that it may hit 300k views. I still don't quite believe what has went on since we uploaded that. It's just strange to me. People in the music industry give me blank stares when I brush off 8 million dollar offers. I don't want 6 tour buses, 15 tractor trailers and a jet. I don't want to play stadium shows, I don't want to be in the spotlight. I wrote the music I wrote because I was suffering with mental health and depression. These songs have connected with millions of people on such a deep level because they're being sung by someone feeling the words in the very moment they were being sung. No editing, no agent, no bullshit. Just some idiot and his guitar. The style of music that we should have never gotten away from in the first place. So that being said, I have never taken the time to tell you who I actually am. Here's a formal introduction: My legal name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford. My grandfather was Oliver Anthony, and "Oliver Anthony Music" is a dedication not only to him, but 1930's Appalachia where he was born and raised. Dirt floors, seven kids, hard times. At this point, I'll gladly go by Oliver because everyone knows me as such. But my friends and family still call me Chris. You can decide for yourself, either is fine. In 2010, I dropped out of high school at age 17. I have a GED from Spruce Pine, NC. I worked multiple plant jobs in Western NC, my last being at the paper mill in McDowell county. I worked 3rd shift, 6 days a week for $14.50 an hour in a living hell. In 2013, I had a bad fall at work and fractured my skull. It forced me to move back home to Virginia. Due to complications from the injury, it took me 6 months or so before I could work again. From 2014 until just a few days ago, I've worked outside sales in the industrial manufacturing world. My job has taken me all over Virginia and into the Carolinas, getting to know tens of thousands of other blue collar workers on job sites and in factories. Ive spent all day, everyday, for the last 10 years hearing the same story. People are SO damn tired of being neglected, divided and manipulated. In 2019, I paid $97,500 for the property and still owe about $60,000 on it. I am living in a 27' camper with a tarp on the roof that I got off of craigslist for $750. There's nothing special about me. I'm not a good musician, I'm not a very good person. I've spent the last 5 years struggling with mental health and using alcohol to drown it. I am sad to see the world in the state it's in, with everyone fighting with each other. I have spent many nights feeling hopeless, that the greatest country on Earth is quickly fading away. That being said, I HATE the way the Internet has divided all of us. The Internet is a parasite, that infects the minds of humans and has their way with them. Hours wasted, goals forgotten, loved ones sitting in houses with each other distracted all day by technology made by the hands of other poor souls in sweat shops in a foreign land. When is enough, enough? When are we going to fight for what is right again? MILLIONS have died protecting the liberties we have. Freedom of speech is such a precious gift. Never in world history has the world had the freedom it currently does. Don't let them take it away from you. Just like those once wandering in the desert, we have lost our way from God and have let false idols distract us and divide us. It's a damn shame.
Sir, you are one of the most intelligent people I have seen, heard, and read about in a very long time. You deserve great things, but stay who you are in your heart and with Jesus in your soul, you are safe.
I love the song, and it’s interesting how much it resonates with people on both sides of the left/right divide. It’s made me see that part of the “rich men north of Richmond” plan is to divide people from each other. A song like this, full of soul and truth, cuts right through the division and hype, straight to our human existence, no matter where we hear it around the world. Much needed! 🤘
I’m an immigrant and this country gave me home. I don’t feel contempt for this country, I feel contempt for corrupt politicians that are driving this country to hell.
This man sings to everyone. It's powerful, and everyone says the same thing, I feel the pain I feel the anger from his song. It makes me tear up in anger, and it's beautiful.
We're all feeling what he is feeling, that's why this blew up. "People like me...people like you" says it right there. I have faith our country will get it together, I have to. We're American's that's just what we do!
I'm with ya brother... I love the song but it infuriates me to no end. This is the pain my fellow Americans are feeling every day and it breaks my heart.
I honestly think this song is going to change the world. This song has the passion to spur all the run down and had enough people to stand up to the establishments in amy county. It certainly opens your eyes and i dont think i have ever heard a song have this effect on so many people.
I'm from the UK and I can tell you it's not just the US where the lunatics have taken over the asylum, it's here too, the only difference is that our 'rich men' operate north-east of Richmond (upon Thames).. Thank God for Oliver Anthony's song, it's the first time that the feelings and predicaments of the ordinary working people have been shoved into the spotlight like this and I sincerely thank him for it..
This man has no fear. This country needs more young men like this one with big brass balls to lead us into the future. He doesn't want to be part of music industry because he wants to sing, write, and produce all of his own music without interference from the machine that is power in the United States. He wants to tell the stories he wants to tell the way he wants to tell them and I love it. Had he signed for a big contract with the music industry they would have buried this song so that regular people only hear the message they want us to instead truth coming for regular folks.
This is what we lack a musical vent more real music for our youth. Its human nature to rebel against injustice when everything is mainstream its a social void. For many of us old souls this type of music is nothing new its just refreshing coming from today's world.. We need more of this from all genres!!!
This is one of the best breakdowns of this song/video, I am a veteran and our country needs to get back on track, I love my fellow person and would have died for them in battle but for some reason politicians want to divide us, thanks Oliver Anthony for putting TRUTH in the song!
LYRICS: [Verse 1] I've been sellin' my soul, workin' all day Overtime hours for bullshit pay So I can sit out here and waste my life away Drag back home and drown my troubles away [Pre-Chorus] It's a damn shame what the world's gotten to For people like me and people like you Wish I could just wake up and it not be true But it is, oh, it is [Chorus] Livin' in the new world With an old soul These rich men north of Richmond Lord knows they all just wanna have total control Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do And they don't think you know, but I know that you do 'Cause your dollar ain't shit and it's taxed to no end 'Cause of rich men north of Richmond [Verse 2] I wish politicians would look out for miners And not just minors on an island somewhere Lord, we got folks in the street, ain't got nothin' to eat And the obese milkin' welfare [Verse 3] Well, God, if you're 5-foot-3 and you're 300 pounds Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds Young men are puttin' themselves six feet in the ground 'Cause all this damn country does is keep on kickin' them down [Pre-Chorus] Lord, it's a damn shame what the world's gotten to For people like me and people like you Wish I could just wake up and it not be true But it is, oh, it is [Chorus] Livin' in the new world With an old soul These rich men north of Richmond Lord knows they all just wanna have total control Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do And they don't think you know, but I know that you do 'Cause your dollar ain't shit and it's taxed to no end 'Cause of rich men north of Richmond [Outro] I've been sellin' my soul, workin' all day Overtime hours for bullshit pay
I never would imagine that rich men north of Richmond leave America people feeling undefeated the voice for us all ! God bless America God only knows! Heart felt so surreal we're living in last days it's worse everyday in our government! Oliver Anthony amazingly beautiful song from his ❤️
Sung from a heart that sees what’s going on. There’s more of us than them. Hopefully the clock is ticking for those monsters. This song fits any country. Greetings from the UK
I have watched over a dozen of these reaction videos and they are all great! But, you are the first person to take the time to actually look at the lyrics and understand what he is taking about! And I appreciate that!!! So many others have just listened to the song and the whole Miners / Minors on Epstein Island just goes over their heads (Not All mind you). You are one of the few that said wait... I He just talked about some being 300 pounds and I am not understanding that and then you looked up the lyrics! BRAVO!!!!
One man sings from his soul truths that we know are for and by richmen. A worker no matter where on this earth they live work for bulls u it pay from youth to death not getting ahead but just to survive
Watched this commentry from Sweden, and my heart is broken. The light of America 🇺🇸 is gone and the Darkness is upon us. This man is not a Singer but a Messenger please American save us from the Darkness
😢😢😢 I can feel the healing coming😊 The rich men north of Richmond nearly won! They’ve tried & tried to divide us! DONT LET EM!! We have to stick together & have each others back!!! FEEL THE LOVE & HEALING! Let it wash over us all so it can wash away the………. Rich men north of Richmond!
Just ribbing ya but when you said "for my spanish followers you're probably not going to understand this is more about the cultural things going on here in the united states." Then the music hits: I've been sellin' my soul, workin' all day - overtime hours for bullshit pay... I had to pause to laugh out loud, oh I think they understand.
Lol damn skippy. Hah I almost wanna cry when some produce goes bad on me before I get to eat it because I know some poor way underpaid worker slaved away in the hot sun to get me that.
You will see that me and my friend Cynthia react to a lot of Spanish music. Specifically, I have a lot of people from Spain that sub. Perhaps they will understand.
If you are 5'3" and 300 pounds our taxes should not pay for your bags of fudge rounds. i.e., if you need us to provide food for you, our taxes should not pay for your health destruction. Do it on your own dollar.
Regardless how a poor person chooses to spend the few funds they receive in aid, they are not causing the economic injustice the song otherwise focuses on. He should keep his sites on the rich men north of Richmond.
@@willjohnson8446 Nah, he's bang on. Socialism is the means these "men" are using to destroy us. Possession of meth should be a capital offense, would take care of the problem right quick, and people on welfare should be able to work jobs like road clearing to get welfare.
Even with our "safe" system in Denmark this hit so hard ! WE WORK SO HARD FOR NOTHING ! we pay taxes of earned money, and when we spend our money we pay taxes on items, its a damn shame this cycle and people cant get out!. WE NEED TO STAND UP NOW TOGETHER
Its an easy song, simple chords but played with desperation and anger. The same with the lyrics. Simple yet unbelivebel poetic, sung with a nerv. But the most important ingrediens is the truth to it. Absolutley true and directly from the hart without all the sounds and bling bling. Just straight and pure... He just sings about america but in a deeper sence, this resonates in every hart around the world were People dont have any power over their lifes... Its spot on and its a damn shame.... Greetings from sweden
He ai t goin nowhere. He wo t be cancelled, def wont be in jail. Hes and honest to God normal guy speakin his truth n waytoo many of us agree, Song for the people🙌❤️
@CAFETIBURON bulls on parade no longer has the meaning it used to. I can't even listen to them anymore. The worst is what happened to the offspring and firing Pete because he could not get the jab
The 300 pounds line means there’s people out here with nothing to eat and people on the street but the fully capable people who do nothing all day are the ones milking the government benefits while they fail to bat an eye at the hopeless
I’m gonna repeat one thought I posted earlier today after stumbling across Oliver. Not only in just this song, but everything I could find sung and spoken by him - is this a Woody Guthrie / early Bob Dylan voice for the 21st Century?
When he’s talking about abusing welfare but he also address (gingerly) the high self deletion that’s happening at the same time. Also the authorities are acting as if obesity is okay now. So he hit on many things in that versus, I have to remember he’s just a musician that’s never played for more than just the small communities around where he live’s. You can feel how his SOUL is aching and I get chills every time I listen. I hear it different or catch thing’s I missed every time I listen again as well. People from all over the WORLD are understanding and feeling this song as well, I’ve read comments from at least 10 countries stating they get choked up and get chill’s also. It’s amazing to see or hear the reach this song is having, it’s truly remarkable.
This guy is pure America. Love it! You do get a sense of helplessness. This is a rallying cry. Tom Macdonald, a Canadian, has some rap songs that hits home as well. He’s reaching the teen to 70 crowd that would never listen to that style of music. People are figuring it out. People are low intensity fighting this. Awareness of this evil is the first step before action can take place. We will not be brainwashed.
Mr. Anthony is voicing how we are all feeling. Frustrated beyond all hope. When i first heard the song, i cried because i felt it deep in my soul. It left a vibrating feeling within me. His other song, " I just want to go home" hits deep too. He puts into words how i have been feeling since my mom died.
I feel you man. Im afraid we need heavenly intervention to survive what’s coming. Worst case, we’ll have another reset of humanity. Best case, it’s all a dream.
We are at a point in time where people are starting to realize that the rich man’s for himself and we are paying for it, all you have to do is look around at what is going on, when I’m at the grocery store I see family’s shopping for the cheapest things that they can afford, kids are getting the things they used to because the money is not there, this song tells it all.
A man true to himself and the people. A Scottish guy said ,politicians in it for them self's, talking bullshit ,too true. I am a farmer , too politicians we are expendable. I'd like to see them go hungry for a while. God bless the working men and women.
Really enjoyed your reaction, sir. I could tell the song resonated with you, as it did with me and damn near every sane, level-headed person who’s heard it. I’ll sub.
Ya I was just chillin and tooling around on RU-vid. I saw people reacting to this song. I said, let me see what the hype is. Then bam! I was affected. This song got me.
It's an All American Song 🇺🇲. The Bots on here calling it a world song. It's there , Cover up. Look at all the videos of this song , it's the same thing "It's a World Song"
I've seen people from all over react and comment. Pakistan, several places in Africa, Vietnam, all over Europe, Canada and America. This song hits everyone. Everyone. It hits the men harder I'm seeing. They can understand him from a man's perspective. He mentions the suicide rate of young men in our country.
