Jennifer Rector, Try Russian one for a change. Where you will only see one, censored point of view. And if you have opposing view, you will be silenced in the variety of ways. Guys, you really have no idea what is really happening in our country now.
A I, The thing is, I am Russian. And many time in the recent history I was ashamed of that. I hope in the few years your opinion about Putin will change.
K Monkey, I understand where you are coming from. But if you think that US is unbiased and free of sin then you really have no idea what is going on in our country!
MotoBazooka It’s strange how Americans say PUTN, when Americans say Put in (like put in the money in the wallet for example) Then you already say it right. P u t -I N, is also to speak out for Americans. Instead of that strange sound putn. 😯
What dignity? He fell for Putin’s charm offensive… Oliver stone’s obsequiousness is proof positive that human nature’s propensity to be in awe and bend the knee to a powerful authoritarian leader is deeply rooted
It's so pathetic to see how very uninterested they are to hear the other side of the story but rather doubling down on the same narrative of Cold War mentality which is sickening to the core it's a shame main stream media is this crappy now days. Well done Olivia stone..
Stories of disaster and war brings more money in, than stories of peace, like: russia is now our friend (not good for business). The media goes where there are more money to be earn.
It seems to be a new American thing to aggressively question the interviewee and move from unrelated question to unrelated question if the interviewee resists being bullied. Well done Mr. Stone.
@@peterstafford4426 Through his work Stone is probably the most Honest movie producer and director out there He's not afraid to question his govt and ask the questions nobody else will How is he ''Pompous''?
@@trevortimoko7512 Nothing honest about him. For example, he pushes the 'CIA killed Kennedy' story. That story was created in the 1960's by the KGB. In March 2022, its obvious The Putin Interviews are pure propaganda. Stone is either a fool or complicit.
A typical clueless, bias pretender intellectual "MEDIA" practitioner esp the lady in blue. I can't blamed her for she was just reading what was asked by her producer.
@@ojjoooooo good question - what about the us sponsored Bio Labs - have you thought abouth that Putin is yust protecting his country ? shoud he has waited until they attack him ????really hope he wins
My God! When I listening these show hosts with all their preconceptions to Mr Putin, it makes me feel so sad about US Mass media. USSR propaganda was nothing comparing to this.
Жан Д. Soviet people were mostly educated, so the propaganda had to be subtle and sophisticated. In America it's enough to simply repeat the same thing as often as possible to make it a new reality.
Usually the Soviet propaganda criticized the American way of life in general, the culture of excessive consumption, the oppression of blacks, the unleashing of wars against small countries. I can't remember any article in Pravda where President of US was called serial killer personally almost putting him with one side with Hitler.
He, like many narcissists, has an infatuation with powerful men + how they’ve managed to obtain and hold such power. Hard stop- look what Putin has done since. Cowards and Traitors.
Norah O'Donnell is out of her depth questioning an intelligent and experienced film maker and deep thinker like Oliver Stone. She doesn't know how to listen while interviewing people, something Oliver mastered to perfection. At least Charlie Rose knew better, was respectful and kept his mouth (mostly) shut.
I just finished watching Stone's interview with Vladimir Putin. I believe that those 4 interviews are so important that they should be made available to everyone in the United States. Putin is wise, intelligent leader of the country with the difficult past, thousands years of the history and with him being presented by politicians and media as a greatest enemy of the United States, he is worth listening to.
Oliver Stone, Thank you for your efforts over your lifetime. I hope you inspire others to be more genuine. As for the panel, well I suggest you watch yourselves and realign. Life is not about stratagem, but compassion. Love to ALL
Thank you. The word stratagem so well sums up the obvious hidden agenda of these CBS media clones. Sadly, we seem to be raising up an entire generation of people like this. That's a scary thing!
I like Oliver Stone because he can form his own ideas in spite of American cliches. That being said, I also think that sometimes he "fall in love" with the leaders he interviews. Putin is certainly a charismatic and complex person, and these interviews showed that he has strong values and he's not the "monster" that western media try to create. I liked the guy more than what I expected, I have to admit that. At the same time, during those interviews he managed to not answer some of the most uncomfortable questions that Stone made (like the ones about the transparency on his wealth, for example) and he tended to minimize certain relevant problems linked to the policies of his government (like freedom of speech, gay rights, NSA-style interceptions, etc ). Obviously he was eager to "sell" a certain image of himself: brilliant, calm, open-minded, value-oriented, inclusive, wise (although I think that despite this image he tried to build up, we saw the man behind the Russian President quite a lot here). Thinking that in those 20 hours he was always 100% genuine and he never stretched/omitted facts would be naive. But again, was he that different from western politicians in doing that? I don't think so.
@@kristinahavranova9616 I think that it's hard to be objective nowadays, but in the end we should look at facts. Russia people have its own way to look at things, and western people struggle understanding that. Putin has put up an authoritarian regime, whatever you want to call it, but he could do that because Russians can live with a different system than democracy. Different countries have different cultures and visions. Putin is not a monster, he's a chief of government who takes care of his country's interests. He also have flaws, and he's not indifferent to the dark side of power, no matter what he thinks/says. He did regrettable things in the past, and good things too. He has good reasons to do certain things, and he took decisions that were probably driven only by his own ambitions. He's probably rich in a way that legal and moral/value-driven ways wouldn't have allowed him. He loves Russia, but his personal vision could take directions that collide with Russians' interests. Is a human being in a position of power. A brilliant person with his own personal dark sides. So I just think that it's important for people to stop thinking in terms of "good guys and bad guys". People are bad AND good at the same time, and no matter whether they live in the west or in Russia. Western countries have disgusting politicians who would sell their mothers for a gram of power. The "only problem" with Putin is probably that his government lacks the emergency brakes in case he stops thinking clearly (not saying that this is the case, but it's a problem anyways). So yeah, those were just my 2 cents. Btw, I'm Italian.
I agree with Oliver who said that Megan didn't know what she was talking about. I think Oliver told putin to push US journalists on the issues, because they don't know anything about countries like Ukraine or Crimea. There plastic USA media puppets empty and shallow. when you watch the summit event hosted by Megan, you can see putin pushing back at Megan asking her if she's read the reports on hacking the election. 🤣
Oliver stone, very pragmatic person, and I think after the interviews with Putin, it just put him in another dimension of realism. Good job Oliver we support you mate.
Oliver Stone is an amazing person. He has inspired me so much over the years :-) Too bad our manipulative media, especially Fox News, has drowned out what he says.
@@derekleslie2670 Exactly. Pretty much all main stream media outlets are owned by a few parties.. and to think those people don't collude to find mutual benefit would be ignorant.
Oliver stone is an amazing interviewer. Fox news has proven themselves to be right on several occasions, when the other liberal press was wrong. The vacine is one
Mr. Oliver Stone, my respects, your work will be written for centuries in not thousand of years, director extraordinaire, a true history recording no other director attempted...a fine work of fine man...my respectful greetings to you...
At the end of the documentary Mr. Putin said to Mr Stone," you will suffer a lot after this! Mr. Stone response was," I know but it is worth it". The Documentary was brilliant by all means.
That documentary was phenomenal. It’s fascinating. Oliver Stone is brilliant, open minded because he wants to see thee truth. The guy volunteered to fight Vietnam. He is just a worldly individual
Jan F , Sarcastically I said this because the question could be asked of the USA too, and would have the same answer. So My point is to ask questions that does not put us in a bad light. Pick a question that that the USA is not guilty of our selves.
its so funny...america has openly interfered with elections around the world from south america, central america, europe, africa, middle east etc...(read confessions of an economic hitman)
She didn't say that. She said you just can't assume everything a politician says in a interview is true. That's how journalism works.. but Stone is a filmmaker, not a journalist. He just cares about a Putin's money
After watching all the parts, and then the Meghan Kelly 'interview/attack', it seems I believe him more than our own media...he's straight, no punches and I'd trust him with his word moreso than Obama or anyone in DC.
Respect to Oliver for his personality, big Respect. And also big respect for not throwing up at this table, surrounded by such disgraceful idiots. I'm shocked how the US media is turning facrs around and believe in everything being told by stuff like CIA etc. It's frustrating.
Vladimir Putin has a powerful personality. He is a very well educated man and he is very clear about what he wants. nobody can resist his charismatic personality. He has all the condition of a great leader.
LMAO A Great Leader, Are you Fu#kin kidding me, The Great Leader that directed Innocent women and children being murdered for no reason except to fulfill his wicked thirst for power. And now the world clearly sees what he really wants.
@@russelltate1394 Well, is your opinion but I would look into how many innocent people US and allies have killed in the many many many wars they invented to keep their power. Is not good thing to play blind.
I agree that US mainstream media demonize Putin way too much, but it's also clear that Oliver Stone is also pretty native on judging Putin, based on what he said in the interview. No politician on earth would entirely reveal him/her self during a televised interview.
@@neilpeartspurplenose8739 I didn't say America is a saint. I said Putin is a horrific war criminal. Because he is. Do you support his war crimes or not?
In April 1967, Stone enlisted in the United States Army and requested combat duty in Vietnam. From September 16, 1967 to April 1968, he served in Vietnam with 2nd Platoon, B Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Infantry Division and was twice wounded in action.[15] He was then transferred to the First Cavalry Division participating in long range patrols before being transferred again to drive for a motorized infantry unit of the division until November 1968.[17] For his service, his military awards include the Bronze Star with "V" Device for heroism, the Purple Heart with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster to denote two awards, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
His interview was so much better than the typical western interviews where they just accuse him of things over and over again and he denies it. We end up knowing nothing about him if you only get your info from the mainstream media
Pause the video at 2:44, look all 3 want to jump in (Lady in yellow wanted to read out anything, Charlie always relies on improvising, third one was the quickest). What Stone said between 2:38 and 2:44 is UNACCEPTABLE to be aired on CBS. It was like - "We'll interview Oliver Stone" and - "We'll answer all the questions too"
He quoted Robert gates who has blood of thousands of iraqis on his hands. He is not eligible to pass such comments on others when he himself is a war criminal!😂
A picture equals a thousand words a 20 hour interview means billions of words with no place to hide.Unlike his interviewers mr Stone seems quite objective.
Oliver stone is a brilliant filmmaker and Vietnam Vet, and I don't question his honesty AT ALL. It's important to remember, however, that for 16 years at least, Putin was a KGB officer who worked for Boris Yeltsin. So, I'd take Putin's honesty with a grain of salt. I'm not sure what the baseline of honest feedback is for Ex-KGB officers, but it's not likely to be high.
Watching this four years later, these people talking about ‘meddling’ and ‘collusion’ look really naive and unintelligent. I called it out then, and now we can all sit here with hindsight.
Calm, Just like a cold blooded serial killer who wants to eat Ukranian babies for dinner. Obviously your assessment of "The Great Mr Calm Putin" is Highly Disturbing and you need therapy as soon as possible.
The first thing about this interview with OS, is how hostile almost all the hosts, but the one in the stripe outfit in particular. It's clear from the outset that their mind is set and regardless how wrong they might be, they're sticking to their thinking.
It's pathetic that the CBS cast simply shifted to Oliver when they didn't like the answers they wanted. " Why did he grant you so much access". Oliver made an objective observation and they are trying to pin him as a puppet.
Oliver Stone said, I would know if Putin is lying- I dont see it". Oliver, you are a freaking Hollywood film director and He was KGB agent, and now politician! Really, you would know?
American media repulses me. Putin has perform brilliant international politics that short-sighted Americans are not able to see nor understand. The inveighing manipulations of these reporters are outfront. Oliver Stone leaves to the viewer a delightful jewels of journalism to see and freely let us to form an opinion about Putin.
I noticed how the more convicting movies were NOT mentioned. Armageddon now ,JFK, The untold history of the United states .That was on purpose. The tone was " why dont you hate Putin like us ? "
Lets not forget that Oliver Stones son works for Russia Today, part of the propaganda machine of Russia, and he has a history of bending the facts in his movies. His first successful movie that he wrote, Midnight Express, was supposed to be based on a true story but the man how´s life the movie was based on thought it was skewed, his movie about the Doors was highly criticized by the people that where interviewed for the movie because he didn´t listen to a word they said as he already had a story that he wanted to tell and of course there is the conspiracy movie JFK. It obvious that Oliver Stone has his own agenda and finding the truth is not part of it
Now this didn't hold up very well for Oliver Stone. "Never interfere in other countries"...."peaceful coexistence"...he ate all the crap and ended up brown-faced. Lots of apparatchiks here in the comments btw
Iraq in 2003. America and Nato did half a job in 1991. They have to go in 2003 to finish the job. Trouble broke out in Ukraine in 2014. Obama was president then. Trump becomes president in 2016. No war in Ukraine during his time. Biden became president in 2021. War in Ukraine in 2022. 4.2 million people have become refugees. All due to the clumsy foreign policy of America. Way back in the 1970s Senator Mansfield wanted to withdraw American troops from Germany. He wanted Europe to work on the European Security Treaty. Sen. Mansfield had the vision but unfortunately he was in the minority and was defeated in the Senate. Freedom.is an overated word. Food on the table and a roof is freedom for many people like in Cuba. America has imposed santions on Cuba since the revolution in 1959. Thats is a form of terrorism. It is financial terrorism on the part of America. Who can educate America. It is people like Oliver Stone and Michael Moore. What has been the Council of Foreign Relations doing all this while?
To everyone who hasn't watched the documentary: don't be fooled by MSM It's a fascinating, must-watch documentary that reveals a lot about Putin, Russia, Ukraine and the US Sit down with an open mind and watch it, you won't regret it Especially with the current situation, you'll understand the war much better You might also want to check out "Ukraine On Fire" - great documentary as well that explains the current war
