On his onion video it was an ai of his voice with a picture of an off sync mouth snd in the genius interview he was fully wrapped up so nobody could see his real face and in this video he is wearing a wig and he has facial hair hiding his real face

If i can try and explain this in some sorta way maybe the carousel was the car before it crashed. Maybe the past oliver tree couldn't get over the break up or whatever happened to them and their significant other. Leading him to get depressed and crash his car. This new oliver tree could be symbolic maybe but who knows
