I am a man I was born in 1976 I saw Olivie de Havilland for the first time in the movie Captain Blood from 1935. Her appearance in the film was not only the appearance of an excellent actress but also an amazing beautiful girl when she was 19 years old she was young and beautiful actually hypnotized me You can it was possible to fall in love with her without memory at first sight. This film, due to her amazing beauty, not only spiritual, but also beauty, was deep in the mine mind. As soon as the news of her death appeared, I immediately remembered her actor creation in this film. Olivio died for the world I can only write rest in peace for me and for many other fans who love your by film creations you will live forever and you will always remain in our memory Robert from Poland
Olivia de Havilland - thank you for your lovely performances throughout the years. We value your incredible talent - so thank you from one happy fan! God Bless You!
Great tribute to a beautiful and gracious woman. What a life and such wonderful memories you must have. And that's just the one's we see from the great movies you were in. I am touched that I had the opportunity to meet you in my life back in the 80's when I was working for Dr. Meltzer in Del Mar, CA. Your encouragement and letters meant so much to me. Thank you always.
Happy 98th birthday Miss de Havilland and many happy returns. What a star, what a lady! So many great films: Captain Blood, The Charge of the Light Brigade, The Adventures of Robin Hood, Gone With The Wind, Hold Back the Dawn, They Died With Their Boots On and the Heiress among others. Hollywood doesn't have anyone today who can hold a candle to her.
I just heard about her passing at 104.... She must’ve been the very last Golden era actress... the last witness of this legendary Hollywood. The music in this video is beautiful.
She played brilliantly in gone with the wind film 👏. Loved her character- a good hearted woman who cared for others. Cried when Melanie died in the end leaving her beloved husband and child behind.
Happy 101st birthday Ms. de Havilland! You are a great actress, a great artist and and a great star! Thank You for the legacy of brilliantly portrayed characters and for the pleasure you have given to generations of film lovers.
MY HEART IS REALLY BROKEN!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT YET!!! OUR DAME OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND HAS GONE!!! REALLY A TREMENDOUS LOST FOR THE WORLD. SHE WAS THE LAST SURVIVING OF GONE WITH THE WIND!!!
Never realised how stunning Olivia really was til I saw this video. This tribute really creates a sense of royalty, she was truly one of the most respected actresses, and deservedly so. This was wonderful, so majestic and yet showing her sweetness onscreen as well. Absolutely gorgeous.
Greetings and salutations Ms. deHavilland! I am sorry if I misspelled your name....mine is Lazure......so I can relate! Thank you for the great video.....Good Times! EML Arlington, Va.
A true legend of cinema!! As you say the last surviving of "Gone with the wind". This makes it even more legendary!!! Doug, congratulations on your choice of music that fits the class, refinement and temperament of Mrs. DeHavilland!! A video of great charm!
@MissPopPrincess161 Thank you! Music is announced in description box as is: first piece (titles) from Kerim by Ennio Morricone (from Secret of the Sahara), 2nd piece is "From the Heart" by X-Ray Dog and 3rd piece is "Shadow of Beauty" by Two Steps From Hell. X-Ray Dog and Two Steps From Hell are recording studios that specifically make soundtrack for movies/trailers including Harry Potter, Avatar, and Lord of the Rings.
What a great piece in honor of a great woman. If you haven't seen 'To each his own' check it out. She makes a simple story so believable and heartwarming. I saw it as a kid and hunted it down now, 40 years later.
Beautiful video, Doug! I saw Olivia only in GWTW so it was very interesting to watch your video. She was very beautiful. Love the music. Errol in love and even Bette Davis respected her, that's much! Thank you!
She looks old even when she was young and never died or got sick!!! Everybody from her movies died and she is still waiting... Oh my, i feel bad that must be so lonely hard for her
Excellent work, the role of Melanie in ''G.W.T.W.'' I must say was my favourite of Miss De Havilland. Never realised Joan Fontaine was a sister, althought there is no mistaking their resemblance, in her role, as Jane Ayre with Orson Wells.
I crushed on her a long time ago when I saw CAPTAIN BLOOD, and then GONE WITH THE WIND added to that feeling. Amazing that I'd independently crush on her sister Joan Fontaine in REBECCA a couple of years ago.....and they're now 95 and 96 years old!! Wow, good genes in that family line! (And nice use of still pics, then film clips mostly in B&W, then in color. I was waiting for her sickly bed scene in GWTW....did I miss it?)
WHAT A A TRUE LEGEND OF HOLLYWOODS GOLDEN AGE OF CINEMA OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND IS A TRUE LEGEND OF HOLLYWOODS GOLDEN AGE OF CINEMA JUST LIKE VIVIEN LEIGH,BETTE DAVIS,KATHARINE HEPBURN
I have seen her in Gone with the wind, Santa Fe trail, We are so devoted and I've seen the trailer of Captain Blood and The adventures of Robin Hood. Based on what I've seen, my opinion is... I think... I believe she is a wonderful actress, my favourtie beside Vivien Leigh (if I think about foreigners).
Absolutely lovely video. However, Olivia made just eight films with Flynn, not 10: 1. Captain Blood -1935 2. Charge of the Light Brigade - 1936 3. The Adventures of Robin Hood - 1938 4. Four's A Crowd - 1938 5. Dodge City - 1939 6. The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex - 1939 7. Santa Fe Trail - 1940 8. They Died With Their Boots On - 1941
@missEloise97 yes. silly, romantic puppy love...meaning they really were quite infatuated with each other. But they didn't tell each other. Sounds like junior high :)...very cute!
The early pics of her are novel. Where do you search for the music, It's lovely? It's no secret Errol Flynn was in love with her; you can see it in his face in the dance clip.
Á propos, could someone tell me some good Errol Flynn films, too? I have seen him in Santa Fe trail as Jeb Stuart, and he is really a great actor. I know he plays Robin Hood and Captain Blood, but I wonder which other films of his are loved. I could search for his filmography on Wikipedia but I am asking for personal opinions. I am curious. These old films are part of history, at least for me. Moreover, if you could advise me more old films of great actors/actresses I'd appreciate it truly.
