There isn't a single person that was close or knew Olivia Newton John that didn't absolutely gush over her as a human being. She was giving and kind, dignified and classy, honest, and possessed a humility that is beyond rare and almost too good to be true. We're talking about a woman with tremendous singing talent combined with mesmerizing beauty and 100% natural. She honestly didn't need any make-up and wasn't remotely interested in flaunting her sex appeal. Remarkably, she never considered herself better or prettier than anyone else. She was the anti self-promoter and simply did not care about superficial things. I'm saddened such a sublime woman in every sense of the word passed away prematurely. She is sorely missed and an absolute beacon for a life well lived. She was total class personified.
I view her in the same "light," although I never knew her personally. The "closest" I came to her in-person was the fifth row during one of her "Physical" concerts in 1982. I was shocked, mesmerized and stunned by her appeal and magnetism
I wasn't even born when Olivia was in the peak of her career. But compared to women artists today... they are no match to Olivia. Olivia was a complete package. Angelic face... angelic voice... wonderful person. She was an icon. RIP.
It's May 2020 and this video is now 38 years old. Listen carefully to the intricacy of the introduction, the complex inflections of Olivia's voice mixed with her Aussie accent, the fact that in 1982, music wasn't doctored to death with AutoTune, auto harmonizers and auto-everything else and of course, her stunning good looks. There's been lots of videos and lots of artists since 1982 and while ONJ's music might not be from your favorite genre, this song/video might never be equaled. And if YT had existed in 1982 there'd be 500 million views, not 116,000. So many people think Taylor Swift is the cat's ass....they have no clue what they missed...
I was born in 1983. My father bought the laser disc of Olivia when I was a child, that had this on it. I grew up listening to this stuff. In 2016 Olivia was in Thunder Valley casino, my family was there. I saw her for the first time in my life live! She was awesome! Sad she's gone! I'd see her again! I grew up on her music. R.I.P Olivia!
I remember watching this concert on TV in the 80s. It was one of those deals where you could turn the sound down on your TV and listen to the simulcast audio on a local FM Radio station. That was a big deal back then. Love this tune!
I had the VHS of this concert and since I was a child I kept on watching it. Now I sing and dance watching you on youtube. Thank you for your music, Olivia. Your music really touches my soul and notes.
The Saucy Aussie is at her best here. Great video from beginning to end. Amazing how good this video looks still in the year 2023. I imagine her singing this directly to me. The graphics in this video from the start are superb and not dated to that era. But Olivia is stunning here with I think one of her best songs.
Olivia had it all the looks and the voice just brilliant. this backing band is incredible mike landau guitar, robert pops popswell bass and carlos vega drums RIP.
This song mesmerises me even today..& completely hooked to this song & listen to it practically every day and imagine the lovely Olivia in heaven resting in peace🌹🌹
How about the whole song? A great composition by who ever wrote it. Great melody, chord structure, great leg structure, great voice and yes, I love Olivia.
I believe the bass player is Robert 'Pops' Popwell... superb jazz/funk musician. Played on albums for Aretha, Smokey Robinson, Bob Dylan, long list. Saw him on her Physical Tour back in Fall '82.
She made us dream with her magic, She weaved such a spell with her voice, She danced in the form of an Angel, The eyes of a spirit so pure. A voice much sweeter than honey, So soft and delightful to hear. We knew she was destined, to be with our Lord too soon.
Come take my hand You should know me I've always been in your mind You know I will be kind I'll be guiding you Building your dream has to start now There's no other road to take You won't make a mistake I'll be guiding you You have to believe we are magic Nothin' can stand in our way You have to believe we are magic Don't let your aim ever stray And if all your hopes survive Destiny will arrive I'll bring all your dreams alive For you I'll bring all your dreams alive For you From where I stand, you are home free The planets align so rare There's promise in the air And I'm guiding you Through every turn I'll be near you I'll come anytime you call I'll catch you when you fall I'll be guiding you You have to believe we are magic Nothin' can stand in our way You have to believe we are magic Don't let your aim ever stray And if all your hopes survive Destiny will arrive I'll bring all your dreams alive For you I'll bring all your dreams alive For you You have to believe we are magic Nothin' can stand in our way You have to believe we are magic Don't let your aim ever stray And if all your hopes survive Destiny will arrive I'll bring all your dreams alive For you I'll bring all your dreams alive For you
Miley Cyrus is a boy standing next to this woman. Music didn't necessarily get better over time. I can't believe how graceful she is compared to some of today's female singers.
Excelente interpretación , bella mujer , no necesita bailarines , coreografías ridículas innecesarias pues le sobra talento y cubre ella sola el escenario
+Andrea M You are so right. Beautiful Aussie. Reminds me back when this song came out back about 1982ish, I was on a plane from Honolulu to Los Angeles and was 14 years old, so you see I was going thru a time of change. There was a beautiful blonde Aussie woman on the plane sitting next to me and we talked a bit. She was probably about Olivia Newton-John's age and I was well aware of the song at the time and Miss. John. You can imagine I was heaven talking to this Aussie bird, or I should say Sheila. She looked like Miss. John too but she was not her, but the resemblance made the 5 hour flight pleasurable. You can imagine, I a 14 year old next to a beauty Aussie woman for 5 hours? Best flight I ever had! This song always reminds me of her.
