She is self made in the fashion industry. Her sense of style is admired. Whether or not you respect that is irrelevant. Fashion is art. Olivia knows fashion, she is walking art.
.. I loved OP .. but she has no personality here ... she's just answering the questions and there's no character in her words. The fluidity of her answers is occasional stuttering. I would think that if you have such passion for what you wear and present in the fashion world, you'd have light in your eyes when you talk about something you love. It's sad that she "kind of" just fell into this and became "famous" for almost nothing. .... There are bloggers like Song of Style and Camila Cohelo who absolutely live up to what they have built. It's a shame you bring on someone who doesn't see what it's really like to work.
Except OP has style. You can tell that she is very sophisticated and has a keen eye for detail. Song of style is cool but her look is more generic and Camila actually is kitsch.
It would have been better to interview someone that HAS NOT tons of contact in the fashion industry . Come on how many people have the opportunity to study in Paris for that long ? The reason she got famous was because of the city . OP never spent hours on indeed looking for internship , going to tons of job interviews before ... Or understood that HARD work pays . She always had money , always had her parents pay for her . And now she has " a website" ? Everyone has a website . I used to love OP , but as I got older I realize how she is not a real example . Please to the young ladies don't listen to "her advice" . I still have no idea why she is still here , there is nothing genuine here :/
Already8use: yes, I agree with you. She is very priviledged, upper East side NY, comes from a well-to-do family, has had many contacts and opportunities handed to her, as a direct result of a priviledged background. I will give it to her, that she does wear clothes very well. She is fortunate that she has a small frame naturally and good genes, and therefore clothes that would look ridiculous on someone who doesn't have a petite frame, look good on her. I am not sure that a "self made" conference is the right place for her. I doubt much of how she got into the industry was "self-made". She is a NYC socialite, coming from the richest area in an already outrageously expensive city, so wealth and priviledge are not self made, but handed to her. Because of the wealth she grew up in, she obviously had opportunities that aren't as forthcoming to people from a different background.
Nikita Cavalier absolutely ! I wish she would acknowledge that , at least .. it is a 40 mn long video . i stopped at 10mn . There are thousands of young entrepreneurs that are women and really had to fought for their ideas to be heard . I am going for the first time in NYC for an internship . I worked so hard for it , made sure my english got better , learn more about the industry , try to get contacts . worked my ass off , spend hours on indeed sent hundreds of cover letter . it paid well . That is however just the begininning but the most important that will define my work ethic in my career . anyway , feels like the editor only called her pal to fill a place. there is nothing self made. i m sure that if she was not pretty with a small frame and money . nobody would have heard from her . people still have know idea about what she does for a living . i used to not like erin from the city , but she was so right ! she is priviledged .
Yeah, OP never had to struggle. She was an up-and-coming personality among fashion blogs in NYC but her disastrous appearance on "The City" is what really catapulted her, oddly. Heck, she was casted to be on the show and "worked" at Elle mainly for her designer contacts.
@730relationships com The internship was amazing. I decided to stay a bit longer in NYC and now I work at L'Oreal. Looking back at this comment only confirmed that hard work pays off.
Lol her career advice is a joke - she is privileged and has been a socialite not saying she didn’t work but like telling someone “look online teehee” is ridiculous!
I'm a big fan of her fashion. Of course, today she would not be where she is without her husband. But I think you have to do a lot to get where she are today. Unfortunately, I do not like your American dialect. It does not suit her.
