Dear Olivier: How your soul must ache to be able to be one with that magnificent instrument. I love to watch and listen to your improvisations...they are magical. I cannot wait to hear the organ resurrected again and I pray it will not be so many years before that happens. I love your artistry and spirit. I hope you will be reunited soon. Best to you from the USA.
I love the way Latry's face shows pure pleasure and ease and confidence and never has that grumpy "Im such a serious organist" look about him. Pure musical genius!
@@tinkaluisa8540 Sergei Rachmaninov (one of the greatest musicians to have ever lived) detested musical showmanship and I could not agree more ... Moreover, I am convinced that all great musicians and composers in the history of classical music were restrained in the way they presented their musical achievements ... Also Mozart is know to have said that the art of virtuosity is making it look like it´s nothing ...
It's great having all of the camera angles to see what he's doing. Nice touch on leaving the start of the Introit at the end of the video, it really took the video to another next level.
Glorious!! What an exciting and passionate improvisation! And many thanks for posting such perfect enregistrements of the beautiful music from Notre Dame, which we'll have to miss for some years.
Aller. On y va...
maybe I'm wrong but I don't understand how a "brilliant" musician as Latry arrived to so DESTROY completely that wonderful console built by the MASTER organ builders Cavaille-Coll that a remake was necessary. watch Sulpice and Rouen still intact. maybe his way of attacking the keys? I prefer a Mr. Roth who cares about his organ as it were his wife!
Cavaillé-Coll console was replaced during Cochereau tenure when key and stop action were electrified and chamades were added. The current console is therefore the second since Cavaillé-Coll. I played this instrument in 1973. The original console was long gone.
@@richardbirney-smith2456 This is the third console. The previous was quite different, it was made of a darker wood (not meaning the dark wood of the original Cavaillé-Coll console).
