Olosho is a powerful new video exploring the ongoing land-rights struggle in Loliondo, Tanzania.
It was created by six members of the Maasai community, from three distinct clans, who have been battling over twenty years to protect their territory. The community's land - sandwiched between the Serengeti, Maasai Mara and Ngorongoro - is under threat from foreign companies and the Tanzanian government who are intent on evicting the Maasai and partitioning the land for luxury hunting of the world's most valuable wildlife. This is their story in their own words. SIGN THE ONLINE PETITION to stand with the Maasai of Loliondo at avaaz.org (over 2 million signatures and counting!) www.avaaz.org/e... For updates on the situation in Loliondo, visit The View from the Termite Mound blog - termitemoundvie... For more information about participatory video, please visit www.insightshar...

This is a powerful message by the Maasai about the persecution, mass transfer of population, gross human rights violations and dispossession of land by the Tanzanian government of the inhabitants of Loliondo. Kindly help share this story to all your networks.

The Maasai community is suffering and feeling devastated in the face of Tanzanian government which seems likely not to for their help. They are threatened to their own ancestral land because of the love of money by the government's negligence.

It is very unfortunate that in this 21st era,the Maasai indigenous peoples of Africa continue to face gross violations of their human rights. We call upon the Tanzanian Government to stop this act of forcefully evicting our people from their ancestral land... We would rather die than loose our land!

The police who burned these people's homes are the same police, acting on behalf of US (Boston) based Thomson Safaris, who attacked and threatened me when I lived in Tanzania among the Maasai of Loliondo in 2008; and probably the same police - or their agents - who murdered my friend Trent Keegan when he tried to expose the plight of the Maasai community at the hands of foreign safari companies and corrupt government officials. When I reported the incident to the Irish ambassador in Dar es Salaam she done nothing to protect me, and the then Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mícheál Martin, subsequently refused to meet me to discuss Trent's murder or my situation in Loliondo. Please Share and demand that the Irish government take a stand on behalf of the Maasai in Tanzania. These people are not looking for charity or handouts from Europe; they only want their land and their civil rights to be respected and safeguarded. It is they, and not the so-called conservationists, who have saved the wildlife of Serengeti and Masai Mara from extinction and have preserved this unique ecosystem for us to enjoy now. They are an integral part of that ecosystem, and not just visiting tourists with guns and cameras. Photojournalist, Trent Keegan was murdered in Nairobi in 2008, only weeks after he was threatened by Thomson Safaris guards. It was alleged that this was a simple mugging gone wrong. However, Trent's laptop and camera were the only items stolen, while cash, passport and other valuables were left untouched by his attackers. See my blog on Trent's report into the situation there, written only weeks before his murder/assassination: africanfarmersjournal.blogspot.ie/2008/09/trent-keegans-report.html

We should all stand in solidarity with our brothers in Tanzania.evicting them from their ancestral land is tantamount to finishing them from the face of the earth.let us make the whole world know of this injustice perpetrated by the same government that is suppose to protect the interest of this people.

Time for oppression no longer has room in this modern society, it hurts when our brothers in Tanzania are being evicted from their ancestral land, when it government fails to recognize its own people, fails to protect and defend them. Let us be in solidarity and Say No to UBEBERU MAMBO LEO...

A shame again humanity of the Maasai people; they should be left along to live as of hundreds of years or more. Shame for the government to want to relocate again. So-elite, those who have stolen from the ancestorial lands and profited the monies for themselves. Keep the Mzungu out, you have intelligent people there, stop being greedy and bowing down to the mzungu's. I have posted on my Facebook page. Unite for the Maasai people, if not, who will be next? 7/02/2022 Arizona/USA

Wonderful! Great film! The only problem is the end that can make people believe that the recent burning of bomas is the same thing as what happened in 2009. The current problem is a boundary conflict with the national park and not another attempt at alienating village land for the benefit of OBC.

Franchement, vous faites appel aux soi disant pays évolué et la situation est pire dans un sens ou comme chez vous dans un autre sens, le pouvoir du mal est partout. Pour moi la seule chose est dans le vrai, le pur, la nature, Gaïa
