This luxury 30,000 sq mansion was built in 1989 to replicate a french chateau. It has 10 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, indoor pool, 4 car garage, 5 acres of land and has a secret bomb shelter in the basement!
The indoor swimming pool has an retractable floor that coverts into a massive ballroom.
The fireplace mantel in the office is an antique Louis XVI style fireplace. There is a rumour that Napoleon was painted in front of this mantel. There is a rare Hydrotherapy Aeratone Bath located in the pool area. It applies controlled vibrating massage to all parts of the immersed body.
There has been a number of movies and TV shows filmed at this mansion. Including "It Takes Two" (Olsen Twins) "Suits" and "Trilogy Of Terror 2"
The stone stairs outside in the backyard had 2 sides to it. It was designed to have the men and women walk up opposite sides. This is so when the women lifted their skirts to walk up the stairs the men wouldn't see their ankles.
The previous owners tried selling this mansion for years with no luck. Finally in 2020 a developer bought the land for approx. 30 million dollars. It sat abandoned since.
Sadly shortly after filming this location, the mansion was demolished.

About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

After seeing so many of these abandoned mansions I see things in a different perspective. Beyond what a person needs to live, a home like this is not really an investment. Everything is truly temporary, no matter how grand it may seem in the moment.

Thank you exactly what I was thinking. There is no need to have a home like this unless for example my husband and I with our kids,my sisters and brothers with their spouses and kids and grandparents even cousins live all together. Other than that there is no need.

Absolutely insane amount of money, work, design and skilled craftsmanship went into this place, and to find out it only lasted a little more than 30 years... It could have 100% been restored and turned into an event space, rented out for movies/commercials/business retreats, turned back into a recording studio, on and on.

I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this in the comments as of yet, but this property and structure dates MUCH farther back than 1989 as far as build date goes. It was redesigned in the 1980's to look as it does in this video. My Mother grew up just a few blocks from where this house was located, my Grandfather (her father) knew the owners at the time well, my Mom and her twin Sister spent time here as children in the later 1960s and early 1970s.

I originally saw this mansion on Ethan's channel, but so glad I found this video as some things I was wondering about was given a far better view and explained. Especially the underground bunker. The final years of the Cold War was between 85-91. So that bunker being built there made sense. While us regular people will die, the rich will indeed live on 😅 Ethan did revisit the house right before it was demolished. He has a Short posted showing it being torn down at the end. So sad. What a beautifully built home with quality craftsmanship we don't see now with these crackerjack box, copy and paste homes being built now. I understand the taxes are quite expensive on properties like this, but some repairs, entryways and drywall added to section off areas would have made this a commercial property where people could have rented mini apartments with a community kitchen and pool area. It certainly had enough bathrooms to accommodate such a feat. The basement alone could have been made into a store or business offices. I'm pretty sure the rich people in that area would not of wanted the pheasants living so close to them though so TEAR IT DOWN!!! How extravagant, selfish and wasteful rich people can be. When Ethan revisited it right before demo, nothing of quality so far was removed to be re-purposed. That beautiful gold fireplace was still there. Being honest here. No one needs a home this big and/or extravagant unless its to house multiple generations of family members. Most likely, tiny thin walled condos will be built in its place. 😂

Thanks for showing us all the bathrooms. No one ever does that. Strange all were different. This house was huge. Just crazy. I looked up the Biltmore Estate here in US because I’ve been there. Hearing that this was torn down is such a shame that was a beautiful place sometimes the homes that are abandoned have mold and water issues and everything else this was absolutely gorgeous I hope that they salvaged the mantles and the bookcases and the staircase I will say though I normally don't get anxiety watching these but when you went downstairs into the area with the steel doors all I could think is what would happen if one of those locked I imagine there's no service whatsoever there and with no power maybe the generator still worked but that was quite scary I'm glad that everything worked out

Absolutely gorgeous!!! I have no words!!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful adventure with us Brent👍🙏❤️ it allowed me out of my handicapped body, out of my economically challenged time, to dream👍🙏💕 I pray that , before demolishing this iconic place, they removed the fireplace surrounds, the gorgeous round stained glass window & the golden plumbing features that were in this fabulous place 👍🙏 Even though it would be a dream of mine to live there…I would not be able to afford even 1 utility bill, for even 1 month, let alone ongoing for all of the bills 😰😢😞 The property was magnificent! Again… you’d have to be super wealthy to afford a landscaper! It makes me sooo very sad that this phenomenal place was destroyed 😰😢😞 Thank you Brent, for 42.40 minutes of my pure joy👍🙏💕

I grew up poor and I am still not well off. So I don't understand the mindset of people who have these gigantic homes built for them. I don't know what purpose these places serve, except maybe to impress others. But I can't help thinking of all the hard work and materials (especially using resources such as wood and marble) that go into these places. It seems like an exercise in futility because the structure is now gone. It's as if it never existed.🤔 Nice job filming, Brent! 👍🏻

The house was only 33yrs old. Would love to read the back story of the previous owner and the original owner and how it ended up the way it did. It didn't need that much interior work. The landscape is another story.
@JK-tq4qf
@JK-tq4qf Год назад
The house was built by Robert Campeau in 1985 and sold to Sara and Hal Springer in fall 2002 and they were living in it until 2020 and then a developer bought it, tore it down and who knows what will go up on the site next. During the time it was built the original owner Robert Campeau put the house in his wife's name to keep it from creditors as his company was experiencing serious financial hardship. I would imagine it was rented it out for film shootings and venues etc to help offset the financial cost until the springer's bought it in '02.

@@JK-tq4qf Thanks for filling me in on the back story. It's strange how many mansions were built only to have the owners never being able to enjoy them for a long period. I watched a video on the mansions in Buffalo NY and none of them are in use as private residences.
@JK-tq4qf
@JK-tq4qf Год назад
@@michaelprosperity3420 It's usually the taxes upkeep and cost of lifestyle to maintain is what gets too expensive for the owners of these places ... usually. It's unfortunate to see such waste on such nice homes. There's some pretty popular homes on The Bridle Path where this one was. The house from Mean Girls is there, too. The land transfer tax was 1.7 million for this place.. regular people don't have those types of resources. But there are a lot of very rich people out there that do! :)

A couple of other movies filmed here: Beau Bridges’ ‘Kissinger and Nixon’, and 'That Old Feeling’ starring Bette Midler. I love the floor plan/layout of this place. Too bad it couldn't have been turned into a hotel or student housing.

Hopefully there was a much more thorough salvage team that went throughout that mansion before the demolition. So much that could and should have been salvaged from doorknobs, doors, windows, wood, fireplaces and their mantles, moulding, counter tops, fixtures, stonework, crown molding, appliances that were seen in the video, metalwork, carvings, pipes and much more seen in the video. We might never know what all was salvaged before demolition day.
