This was a great scene and a good use of history, since Bo and Cassie used to be married (for all of ten minutes, since Sarah came back). And it also makes sense that he would empathize with her grief, given his own for Sarah. This scene was perfect. Dorian deserved everything Cassie said to her, and yet, I couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
Darling Dorian...she just can't control her emotions very well. 💔❤️🔥 She tries desperately to smile and tries to calm her beloved daughter who is furious at her, but fails. The tears fill Dorian's dark eyes unbidden and that sweet mouth tightens into weeping...poor Dorian. And Larry Wolek gripping her doesn't help her either...it just makes her cry harder.
This type of story is why SOD named Dorian worst mother of the year. I don't think Strasser was thrilled with this type of story and I have mixed feelings too - I can't really believe she'd go in the hospital room and be a) so happy or b) describe what happened as a "silly mistake."
Dorian sometimes lacked tact, but she didn't deserve the abuse Andrew, Larry Wolek, Viki and Sloan dumped on her. Poor Dorian was _NOT_ "happy" at all!!!! She _TRIED_ to smile in an attempt to reassure Cassie, but her attempt at a smile quickly faltered as tears filled her dark eyes and her brows slanted upward at the bridge of her long nose. Despite the bravado Dorian tried to put on, she really was torn up inside. Poor Dorian, she was a struggling street fighter who didn't often know the right thing to say. I felt bad for both Cassie and Dorian. Let's not forget that shortly afterwards, Cassie came to _Dorian_ ...not Viki, not Clint, not Bo, not Larry Wolek, not Cord, not Tina, not Max and not even Nora, who was a lawyer...for help. Even though Cassie was furious at her mother, Cassie loved her mother dearly. Those old money snobs in Llanview who waste time hating Dorian so much should sit up and take notice, but they are too self-centered for that. And Larry Wolek is a dreadful doctor who deserves to lose his license for life. I hated that Larry was insensitive enough to place Cassie in a _maternity_ ward. 🤮🤮🤮
@@Coryraisa 'Street fighter'? Interesting choice of words. Had Dorian had a tough life? I really can't remember and might not know enough of the show's history to know. Maybe Dorian meant well in this scene, but definitely didn't handle the situation with Cassie right.
@@brynne77: She truly was a gritty streetwise fighter. And yes, she had a difficult, poverty-stricken childhood. Watch the April 16, 1993 episode especially at 35:05. Dorian openly admits to Cassie that the reason she's so brash and is a fighter is because she grew up in a poor family. Unlike Viki and her old-money cult clique of the Buchanans, Dorian was new money and was no stranger to hardship. True that she erred with Cassie, but Viki and Sloan were no saints either. And that Christmas 1993, it was _Dorian_ of all people...not Viki and not Renee and not even Herb...who Cassie turned to for help when she found the abandoned baby. And despite being framed that spring of 1994 and jailed for seven weeks, Dorian enabled the finalization of Cassie and Andrew adopting River. Also, the late 1997/early 1998 episodes explore Dorian's painful childhood far more, which included a cruel, abusive mother who beat Dorian and her sisters. Cassie along with Blair and Kelly stood by Dorian all the way through her ordeal, which was great to see. Dorian had her faults, but she also had more courage, bravery and strength than most of Llanview combined. It was great to see her finally able to be vindicated for good. It was really wonderful when she won the high senate position in the 2000s and move to DC. Despite her mistakes, Dorian was the true hero of the series.
