OLTL 8.6.2010 John toasts to Evangeline's memory! 

"When she came home"! Thats a telling statement. Home was with him, she was strong, independent and he always thought of her as someone to come home too. John will miss her greatly.

Trapped in the basement..was the beginning of a beautiful love story(John and Evangeline)what they had as John once stated, no one could ever take away..2019..still magical

Layla's response was seriously lacking emotion until she saw John's reaction. He's a great actor.

The look on his face os heartbreaking that mam still loved vange.

Paolo no he didn't...In real life, when Michael Easton and Rene Goldsberry was doing OLTL... he had a major crush on her, he actually l believe was secretly in love with her...That is why they wanted to continue to work together...Micheal Easton and her both, went to the producers, to ask them to let him say he loves her, and stay together...but the racist producers said no. However, Michael Easton, was asked in an interview once, who do John McBain really loved.... Michael Easton told the interviewer, he is the one who played John McBain, and he should know who John really loved....He, Michael Easton said, John McBain was in love with Evangeline...he said it, and that is why, when they broke them up, he played a man with regrets, with longing in his eyes, to be with her....

I never watched this far. When I found out REG was leaving, I stopped watching the day Van was caught in Christian's studio and never looked back on OLTL. Got a lump in my throat seeing ME/John shed a tear here. I loved JoVan....and still loathe TPTB at ABC for how they treated REG and Evangeline Williamson.

This clip made me break down and cry i felt so bad for John ...if anything this clip just proved to me and everyone of Jovan's fans ...wht we have been saying from the beginning he really loved her..I wish they would bring her back so they could be together again.

OLTL did John and Evangeline so wrong.

I need closure, Here is the scene I'd like to see. John at Evangeline's grave site. As he looks at her name, it hits him, she is gone. Then a replay of scenes, both of them in love and smiling. Back to reality and John says, with tears and a crack in his voice, I love you, and always will. Nat can found as always lurking within earshot.

I have to point out, just how much the writers played with John & Van's emotions...Showing that they were still in love with each other, yet would never be together. Here John tell Layla, he went & got the bottle of the wine they drank while in the basement. In hopes that one day she we would return home. Now back when we all thought John had died. Van told Layla that she had some of John's things. In hopes he would come back to her. U see what they did? Playing with them...Sigh!! Poor JoVan! =(

That would be the perfect ending. Too bad "the powers that be" preferred to sacrifice the integrity and history of the show for a biased agenda. That's really sad.

along with Alan, Emily and Jake too. I miss Evangeline. Maybe she could come to GH, as much as I like McBam if Evangeline shows up all bets are off. Jovan forever.

I watched this live and LOVED that ME gave John such emotions about Evangeline's passing. I really believe it was ME who adlibed this scene, portraying John this way, not really OLTL. I'm grateful he took the stance he did, showing GREAT shock and vulnerability with shedding a tear, just as he used to when he played opposite REG. OLTL gets the finger for killing Vange off and putting John back in JOKIE again! I hope Gnat's baby is Brody's because JoVan should've had the baby, not JOKIE!

Ugggggh this scene should have been done way better than this smh........John didn't have flash memories of their time together. ..He never admitted he really loved her....i'm so glad I stopped watching b4 Van even went in a coma

They were wrong for this!! They should have just written her out of the show...SMH

The writing of these soaps are usually geared toward an 'older' demographic, meaning a lot of viewers still have issues with interracial couples. Unfortunately, we're not living in a post racial society. I've never even seen an episode of this couple when they were on OLTL, and never watched the show. I discovered this couple by accident. Judging by the videos, the writers never allowed John to say he loved Evangeline, and allowed none of the other men she was with to commit to her. Hint!!

Evangaline was moving OLTL foward. Bringing back Tea and Marty and holding on tightly to Blair threw OLTL behind and eventually in the garbage Thats what caused OLTL to be canceled the writers refused to move their storylines foward with new charecters.

This entire scene was wrong!! Layla grieved more when Thalia died smh !!

Here`s what people don`t knw about this scene is Michael Easton requested to have this scene. He said it what written in the scripted that she die and that was it Michael Easton asked if he could have John exspress how he feel about her being gone. Michael wanted to honor Evangeline/REG.

I loved that he said, "When she got better and when she came home we could open it together". It was as if he was saying when she comes home, I am going to tell her how much she means to me. Forget Christian. Forget Natalie. It's going to be our time together again. He went and found a bottle of wine that they had drank the first night he and Evangeline made love to drink it with her when she woke up, if THAT doesn't say a lot about how John felt about her I don't know what did. Sometimes, I wonder if he was ad-libbing when he looked a certain way or made certain statements that weren't leaning towards the way they wanted to take the character, away from Evangeline and to Natalie.

I'll bet OLTL producers are MAD now because Tika Sumpter has moved on to Tyler Perry's The Haves and Have Nots and the show is getting MAD RATINGS!!

Dang, this scene hit me harder than I thought. I, too, quit watching OLTL once Van was put into a coma. And while I never really thought that they'd bring her out of it, killing her off still shocked me. I'll give the writers a little bit of credit for at least showing John having a reaction to it. The writers haven't forgotten history entirely.

@inbetween711 I absolutely agree OLTL don't have have any stable African American actress on the show which is sad cause REG could have stayed ME partner in crime they could have been the NEW Nora and Bo! They bought Nora back why not Evangeline cause John needs her bad. If they can't find anyone with the same kinda chemistry I have a feeling John McBain will be leaving the show and they can't afford to let that happen cause that will be the end of the show. JOVAN LOVE 4EVER!!!

I am so with you there. I will always want John with Evangeline. I know it's probably a long shot that Renee would show up on GH as it is taped in Cali, but I will always hold on to a small bit of hope.

People come out of comas all the time--even twenty years later! Eli, scoundrel that he was, as Evangeline's mother's lawyer could have easily arranged for Evangeline's "absence" as he did Tea's. Or let Tomas discover upon seeing her picture at Cristian's studio that "I know this woman."

I agree with what you said about REG/ME being hot. In fact I would say they were the hottest couple on daytime tv, bar none. The scenes they had stand the test of time. I've been re-watching them and remembering how I feel for this couple back in 2004. I think ABC and specifically Brian Frons were cowards that they used Jovan viewers and supports then possed them away in favor of Jolie crazy fans that harassed the show, writers, actors, etc.

@siugal Sadly enough, the writers would rather cave in to hatred than to let love rule. From some of the posts I've read for their oter videos, Michael Easton was disappointed that the writers decided to break them up. All the so-called Gnat fans actually believe she's his 'soul mate.' Oh yeah, a soul mate who literally stalks you while you were in a relationship with another woman, and then turns around and gets pregnant by another man, and knowingly keeps that lil' secret from you. Right!

I wish John would’ve tried again with her, they were a great couple and John really loved her deep down but didn’t know how to love with saying the words. You know what’s strange both characters felt something for one another once they fount out from someone they died if you watch both reactions in other clips.

If my sister just died, there is no way in hell I would be at work. I would be too distraught. I wouldn't be able to function. Layla's actions here are what makes me believe that Eva is alive and that her family knows she is OR Maybe she is being held by the same people who are holding Robin captive on GH. ;~)

As you recall, her mother Lisa would not let anyone but "family" near Evangeline. Todd would not have a legal standing to interfer. I think Todd was gone from the canvas for three months with injuries of his own at the the time. When he returned, he had to sneak in to see Vang. I don't understand why they kept her in a coma for three years if they did not intend to revive her at some point.

I agree, if they'd being Evangeline to port Charles, all McBam bets would be off! Plus JaSam are endgame, so why not bring JoVan back?

@skayeligg I'm also greatful that John had a reaction. If he hadn't that would have been so wrong!! But they could have shown a montage of her...Her & John & Layla ect. I mean why didn't we get that much? Her passing could have been better.

So they 've killed Vange, and Layla's contract was not palatable for her to stay what a joke...this is when you have to give Y&R it's props, they have had blacks in lead roles for what seems like forever, never really trying too hard to court one or the other demographic, but just reflecting life with colors in it. wolsilita 1 sec ago

ABCSOAPFAN1963 I was not able to watch OLTL on TV. I saw the clips on You Tube and was hooked! I did not like how their story ended. The writers could have done sooo much more!

Is it weird that I feel like cryin?...Alittle bit. It's just so sad! Ugh, I didn't see this one. But I heard about it, I told my lil'sister who loved Evangeline. She was like"How could they?? It's just not right!!! Man...how could they! I'll never watch again!!! >=/" when I say something about oltl she doesn't want to hear it. I feel the same way. I don't want to watch now. It use to be so great!! Sigh..Bye Vange!!

@ncl1213 Yes they really are. And the way her storyline ended, just didn't make whole lot of sense. The coma thing has been done...and by ABC! They did the same thing to Nora when her contract was up. Hahaha, I'll join you. Maybe just maybe, NBC treats their stars/characters & fans better.
