I love seeing all these characters together because Max and Gabrielle were like the Todd and Blair of the 80s.

Soaps are so bad sometimes. All Blair has to do is tell the truth , then they can all be happy but no she instead decides to cook up a pathetic immature scheme where she ruins her life, Todd’s and her daughter . So dumb

For whatever reasons, the writers were not in favor of TnB being a happy couple. But Todd has his part in this, too. He has betrayed her in the past and kept her from Starr. He has an unpredictable, horrible temper. She can't predict his actions if he gets mad. I hate to say it but it's doubtful they could all be happy. Between the two of them, they have so many flaws and don't know how to relate to one another in a truly healthy way. Something else would happen (and the writers would make sure of that).
