Kindly check, read and understand the difference between a king and traditional ruler Nothing like king here in nigeria all we have nah just traditional rulers ok 👌
I don't think age matters in IBADAN kingship, this baba joined the queue years back before it's his turn now Let's give him the chance ....Put yourself in the same position that you have joined the queue of leadership as long as 40 years, it's now your turn and people are saying that you have outgrown the leadership
Hmmm. It is now becoming a norm for Nigeria to put aged, unhealthy and dieing individuals on the most sensitive and most tasking leadership offices. What has bewitched us for God's sake?
Do not compare the traditional process of ascending the throne of Olubadan to what obtains in the partisan/political process of "electing" our leaders. Ascending to the Olubadan throne is unique in that it is not inherited, but rather by promotion & rotation among the High Chiefs of Ibadanland. If you understand that 2 paralel lines of High Chiefs- doubles as afobajes (10 in total, each of who started relatively young as Magajis), take turns to be promoted to the stool of Olubadan, you will understand why they are usually old & why they don't last long. Tge beauty of it is that everyone knows whose turn it is & there's smooth transition, unlike what obtain in the rest of Yorubaland. But the downside is having very old Olubadan most of the time, & the relatively short reign of each.
@@Aworawo So, why should we continue with the tradition of enthroning unfit old men for the revered post of Olubadan? Look, it's high time we stopped this practice. The world has really evolved. We now need a young, vibrant, fit and agile man for the position of Olubadan, just as any other serious and progressive society. Agreed, the "As-It" system of selecting Olubadan is unique and void of resentment but this method is now obsolete and should be discarded! Must we be having between two to three Olubadans within the space of 10 years? The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results!
What's this charade for😢 The established practice is to have an aged man ascend the throne of Olubadan, considering their tradition of climbing the steps, moving up the ranks from Mogaji to Otun Olubadan🤷♀️
89 years old, well! May he live long in good health. Why are Yorubas this way? Oba Olakulehin is old and frail, he's being help by some people to hear and say whatever ......... Are these family members/ aides forcing Oba Olakulehin for their own benefits? knowing Oba Olakulehin is 89 years old. Why not let the Ex Gov. Oladoja who is son of the soil, educated, very sound in health, who's in his early 70s age be the Olubadan? Just my opinion.
It’s not done like that sir, Olubadan stool is very dynamic in Yoruba land. Chief Rasheed Ladoja can only ascend the throne after the next Olubadan is picked, crowned and reigned (may his days long) and passed away from the Balogun line/row. If for instance, Oba Olakulehin fails the fitness test (God forbid) or he answers the supreme call from the Almighty God before he is crowned (God forbid) the person next to Oba Olakulehin in Balogun line is automatically the next Olubadan provided the person passes the fitness test. In short, the next Olubadan must be picked from Balogun line/row.
@@sulaimantaofeeqayodele2406 Buddy, please refer to my response to "@Aworawo" above. I understand your sentiment and excitement about the so called unique method of ascending the Olubadan throne but it's about time to stop this ludicrous & nonsensical practice or tradition. The world has moved on, it is time to change!
You call a people's culture nonsensical and insist it must change🤨 It is this attitude of undue arrogance that is the root of crisis and conflict in the country ; I'm the one that knows what's best for you. Dey your dey and watch them modernise their system that ha worked for them. Long may the king reign🙏
He started the process of kingship almost 40yrs ago.try to add this to entrance age, that is the beauty in the process. Stop talking about age.The will of God always prevail in Ibadan kingship.
Buddy, please refer to my response to "Aworawo" above. What beauty is in the process? Can we for once be sincere and do away with a practice or tradition that is no longer fit for purpose?
